Cardinal Health Medi Vac Flex Advantage Tandem Canister
Product Information
The Cardinal HealthTM Medi-VacTM Suction and Fluid Collection Products are designed to provide a safe and effective solution for managing fluid waste in medical facilities. The product includes the Flex AdvantageTM Tandem-Canister setup, which allows for the connection of multiple canisters to ensure efficient fluid collection. The Cardinal HealthTM Fluid Management Program offers clinical support and ensures the safety of patients and staff by providing reliable products.
Product Usage Instructions
- Place the Cardinal HealthTM Medi-VacTM Reusable Outer Canister into the bracket on a roll stand or wall mount, ensuring it is in a vertical orientation.
- Remove the liner from the packaging and fully extend and twist it. Repeat this step for each liner.
- Insert the liner into the corresponding size Cardinal HealthTM Reusable Outer Canister. Repeat this step for each canister.
- Press down firmly on the lid of each canister to ensure a proper seal. Listen for a click to confirm the seal.
- Connect the red, braided tube to the VACUUM Port on each canister using a push and twist motion.
- Attach the patient tubing to the PATIENT Port on the first canister and remove the 90-degree elbows from all remaining liners.
- Starting with the first liner that has patient tubing attached, insert the male end of the tandem tube into the tandem port. Verify that the connector is fully inserted and locked into place. Listen for a click to confirm the connection.
- Attach the female end of the tandem tube to the patient port on the next liner. Press down firmly to seal the connection.
- Repeat these steps until all Medi-VacTM Flex AdvantageTM liners are connected. Ensure the tandem port is securely capped on the final liner.
- Verify that all connections are secure and caps are sealed. Turn suction ON using the on/off valve on the Medi-VacTM Flex AdvantageTM Bracket or the regulator valve.
Set-up

Follow the steps below to ensure proper setup and shutdown of your Guardian™ Single Canister.
- Place Cardinal Health™ Medi-Vac™ Reusable Outer Canister into bracket on roll stand or wall mount to be used in vertical orientation only.
- Remove liner from the packaging, then fully extend and twist the flexible liner. (repeat with each liner)
- Insert the liner into the same size Cardinal Health™ Reusable Outer Canister. (repeat with each canister)
- Press down firmly on the lid to ensure proper seal and listen for a “click”. (repeat with each canister)
- Connect the red, braided tube to the VACUUM Port using a “push and twist” motion. (repeat with each canister)
- Attach the patient tubing to the PATIENT Port on first canister and remove the 90 degree elbows from all remaining liners.

- Verify that all the connections are secure, and caps are sealed. Turn suction ON using on/off valve on the Medi-Vac™ Flex Advantage™ Bracket or the regulator valve.
Shutdown
- With suction still ON, on the first liner, disconnect the patient tubing from the PATIENT Port and securely cap the PATIENT Port.
- With suction still ON, on the 2nd liner, disconnect the female end of the tandem tube and using the attached cap, ensure a secure seal. Remember to close the patient port on the Medi-Vac™ Flex Advantage™ liner. Repeat these steps for all the remaining liners.
- With suction still ON, disconnect the red, braided tube from the VACUUM Port and securely cap the VACUUM Port. Repeat these steps for all the remaining liners.
- Ensure vacuum remains ON until all ports are securely capped. Turn suction OFF using on/off valve on the Medi-Vac™ Flex Advantage™ Bracket or the regulator valve.
- Remove liner by lifting upward on the rim of the lid. Liners are disposable and should not be reused. Dispose of in compliance with hospital protocol.
- Do not discard the reusable outer canister. Reusable components should be cleaned and disinfected in accordance with facility procedures.
