Product Information

The DVA-5205P or DHA-S680P is a multimedia device that allows you to play videos and DVDs. It comes with various settings and features that can be customized according to your preferences.

Setup Compatibility

Some factory settings of the DVA-5205P or DHA-S680P may not be compatible with your system configuration. If you experience no audio after installing the device, especially from sources like CD changers, please follow the setup instructions for CustomSetup.

Accessing the Setup Menu

  1. Play a video in the DVA-5205P or DHA-S680P.
  2. Ensure that you can control the video using the remote controller RUE-4168.
  3. Press the STOP button on the RUE-4168. A “PRE-STOP” message will appear on the screen.
  4. Press the STOP button again, and a “STOP” message will appear on the screen.
  5. Press and hold the MENU / SET key on the remote control until the main setup menu appears on the screen.

Main Setup Screen

The main setup screen provides access to various menu points and settings. You can navigate through the menu by clicking directly on the screen.

Language Selection

In the languages menu, you can predefine your preferred languages for audio, subtitle, and menu options of any inserted DVD. Please note that this function may not be supported by all DVDs.

Video Output Mode

  • Select “LETTERBOX” if you are connecting the device to a conventional 4:3 size monitor. This may result in black stripes visible at the top and bottom of the screen.
  • Select “PAN-SCAN” if you are connecting the device to a conventional 4:3 size monitor. This will fill the entire TV screen, but parts of the movie at the extreme left and right sides may not be visible due to an aspect ratio mismatch.
  • Select “16:9” if the DVA-5205P or DHA-S680P is connected to a 16:9 monitor, such as IVA-C800R or TME-M750.

Parental Locking

Do not attempt to switch the country code of your DVA-5205P or DHA-S680P. The country code is only for the function of rating level. For more information on country codes and rating levels, you can download the owner’s manual of DVA- 5205P.

DVD-Audio Down Sampling

The device provides options for downsampling DVD-Audio signals. When set to “ON,” digital signals recorded on the Audio DVD disc with specific sampling rates are converted for output from the optical cable. When set to “OFF,” the signals are not converted and not output from the optical cable.

Audio Out with Non-Dolby Digital Processor

The device offers options for audio output when using a non-Dolby Digital processor. When set to “AUTO,” the digital output is automatically switched according to the type of audio signals being played. Select “AUTO” when connecting a digital audio processor and playing Dolby Digital audio. When set to “LPCM,” the audio signals recorded on the disc are converted into 44.1 kHz/16-bit linear PCM audio signals for output. Select “LPCM” when connecting processors other than PXAH510 or PXA-H900.

LED Indicator

The device has LED indicators that show its operating status. When set to “ON,” the LED indicators are lit. When set to “OFF,” the LED indicators are turned off even when the power is on.

Custom Setup / Closed Caption

DVDs may include closed captions for individuals with impaired hearing. You can turn the closed captions on or off using the device. When set to “ON,” the closed captions will be displayed. When set to “OFF,” the closed captions will not be displayed. The device is set to “OFF” for closed captions by default.

Some factory settings of DVA-5205P or DHA-S680P may not be compatible with your system configuration. If you have no Audio after installing DVA-5205P from any source like CDChanger please follow the setup instructions “Custom Setup”.

To go to the DVA-5205P or DHA-S680P setup Menu, follow the following procedure:

Play a video in the DVA-5205P or DHAS680P and be sure that you can control it by the remote controller RUE-4168

Press STOP on the RUE-4168. A PRE-STOP will appear on the screen.

Press again STOP and a STOP will appear on the screen.

Press and hold the MENU / SET key on the remote control until the main setup menu appears on the screen.

Main Setup screen

You can click directly on the screen on the right to go to the menu point description.

Language selection

  • In the languages menu, you can Predefine your preferred languages for Audio, Subtitle, and Menu of any inserted DVD.

  • This function is not supported by all.

  • Video output mode (4:3 / 16:9)
    Select LETTERBOX when connected to a conventional 4:3 size monitor. There may be black stripes visible at the top and bottom of the screen. Select PAN-SCAN when connected to a conventional 4:3 size monitor. The picture will fill the entire TV screen. However, due to the mismatch in aspect ratio, parts of the movie at the extreme left and right sides will not be visible.

  • Select 16:9 if the DVA-5205P or DHAS680P is connected to a 16:9 Monitor such as IVA-C800R or TME-M750.

Parental Locking

  • You should not try to switch the country code of your DVA-5205P or DHA-S680P. This Country code is only for the function “Rating Level”.

  • DVD-Audio down sampling
    ON:
    The digital signals recorded on the Audio DVD disc with 96 kHz/24bit, 48 kHz/24bit, and 48kHz/20bit sampling are converted into digital signals with 48kHz/16bit sampling for output from the optical cable. Set to ON at time of shipment from the factory.

  • OFF:
    The digital signals recorded on the DVD disc with 96 kHz/24bit, 48 kHz/24bit, and 48kHz/20bit sampling arenot converted into digital signals with48 kHz/16bit sampling. They are not output from the optical cable.

Audio out with non-Dolby Digital Processor

AUTO:
The digital output is switched automatically according to the type of audio signal beingplayed. Be sure to select “AUTO” when you want to connect a digital audio processor and play Dolby digital audio. “AUTO” is selected upon shipment from the factory.

LPCM:
The audio signals recorded on the disc are converted into 44,1 kHz/16-bit linear PCM audio signals for output. Select LPCM when you want to connect other processors than PXAH510 or PXA-H900

Led Indicator

ON:
The LED indicators are lit, indicating the product’s operating status. “ON” is selected upon shipment from the factory.
OFF:
The LED indicators are turned off. When “OFF” is set, the indicators do not light even when the power is on.

Custom Setup / Closed Caption
DVD includes so-called “closed captions” which describe the scene to persons with impaired hearing. It is possible to turn the closed captions ON and OFF.

ON:
Displays the closed captions.
OFF:
Does not display the closed captions. Set to OFF at the time of shipment from the factory.

Custom Setup / AI-Net Setup

DVD:

  • Set to “DVD” when connected to the CVA-1005R/ IVA-M700R/ IVA-C800R/ CDA-7990R/ CDA-7969R.
  • Operations can be performed usingthe CVA-1005R/ IVA-M700R/ IVAC800R’s main menu screen, or the
  • CD-Tuner’s keys. “DVD” is selected upon shipment from the factory.

CD:
Set to “CD” when connected to an Ai- NET product (head unit) other than the above (for ex.: CVA-1000R). Operations can partly be performed from the head unit. Custom Setup / H.U. Control

ON:
Possible to operate from a full Ai- NET compatible head unit or an Ai- NET compatible AV head unit (CDA- 7990R/ CDA-7969R/ CVA-1005R/ IVAM700R/IVA- C800R).
OFF:
Not possible to operate from an Ai- NET compatible head unit or an Ai- NET compatible AV head unit. Set to OFF at the time of shipment from the factory.

Switch between NTSC and PAL
If you see this picture when you insert a DVD in the DVA-5205P or DHAS680P you are inserting either a NTSC DVD or the DVD Player is currently set to NTSC. You can switch between NTSC and PAL by holding the power button of the Remote controller. Of course, you can not change the regional code of DVA-5205P or DHAS680P.
