NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS USB-1357 NI USB Switch Mainframe
Product Information
The USB-1357 is a switch mainframe manufactured by NI (National Instruments). It is designed to work with SCXI switches and is based on the NI SCXI-1000/1001 chassis and the NI USB-1357/1358/1359 SCXI Controller/Adapter Kit. The mainframe is preassembled for plug-and-play functionality. Before using the USB-1357, it is necessary to install the driver software. Please refer to the NI Switches Getting Started Guide for detailed instructions on installing the driver software.
Product Usage Instructions
- Power off and unplug the SCXI chassis. Ensure you are grounded to prevent ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) damage.
- Touch any metal part of your chassis to discharge static electricity.
- Insert a switch module with a 10-pin rear connector into the rightmost slot of the NI USB switch mainframe. Refer to Table 1 in the NI Switches Getting Started Guide to determine if your switch module has a 10-pin rear connector. Note: It is crucial to install an SCXI switch module with a 10-pin rear connector in the rightmost slot; otherwise, you won’t be able to control any switch modules in the chassis.
- Insert any remaining switch modules into the unused slots in the chassis.
- Power on the chassis. Note: Power on the chassis before connecting the USB-1359 to your computer to allow for auto-detection and auto-creation of the chassis in MAX (Measurement & Automation Explorer).
- Connect one end of the USB cable to the USB-1359 and the other end to a USB hub or a USB port on your computer.
- Refer to the NI Switches Getting Started Guide for instructions on configuring the switch modules.
