Device construction

  1. Function button
  2. Display
  3. Flap of the battery compartment
  4. M button
  5. Infrared sensor

Operation of the device

Installation and replacement of batteries

  • Slide the battery compartment flap (3) towards the bottom of the unit and remove it. When replacing batteries, always replace the complete set of two batteries and dispose of them according to regulations. Place a new set of batteries in the battery compartment according to the polarity marking inside the battery compartment.
  • Close the battery compartment by sliding the tab back into place so that the latch engages and secures the compartment against opening.
  • If you do not plan to use the thermometer for several months or longer, remove the batteries from the battery compartment.

Temperature measurement

  • Do not touch the sensor with your fingers or other objects.
  • If the ambient temperature has changed significantly (e.g. change of room), leave the thermometer for about 30 minutes to adjust to it. Make sure that the ambient temperature is within the operating temperature range of the instrument (10 – 40 ºC) before taking the measurement.
  • Take temperature measurements in a stable environment. If the ambient temperature changes, check that the infrared sensor is not fogged up.
  • Covering the forehead with hair, a cap, etc. may affect the measurement result.
  • The result of the measurement is informative. If in doubt, measure the temperature using another method.
  • Once the batteries have been correctly installed, the device enters standby mode and is ready for use immediately. Briefly press the function key (1) to initiate the measurement. The illuminated display (2) of the device shows all its elements for about a second, after which the result of the last measurement is displayed for another second until three horizontal lines appear on the display. At this point, briefly pressing the M button (4) allows you to choose between measuring the body temperature (symbol at the top of the display) and the surface temperature of the object (symbol ).
  • After selecting the temperature measurement mode, point the infrared sensor (5) at the uncovered forehead or the selected object at a distance of approx. 1-3 cm and briefly press the function button. The measurement result will be displayed after about one second and a beep. For about 18 seconds after the last press of the function button, further temperature measurements can be taken.
  • If no action is taken during that time the device will enter a sleep mode.
  • The display backlight can take on one of three colours depending on the measurement result:

Temperature| Backlight colour| Sound signal| Display
---|---|---|---
Too low| Red| Two short| „Lo”
Normal| Green| One long| Measurement result
Elevated| Orange| Three short| Measurement result
Too high| Red| Three short| Measurement result
Above upper limit| Red| Two short| „Hi”

Measurement memory

  • While the unit is in standby, a short press of the M button (4) allows you to view up to the last 50 measurements stored in the unit’s memory. Subsequent presses of this button display successive results in a loop. First the result number appears briefly on the display (2), followed by the result itself. The result with the lowest number is the most recent. If the function button (1) is pressed or if the device is left inactive for about 18 seconds the thermometer switches to the standby mode.

Basic settings

  • While the device is in standby, long press and hold the M button (4) to set the temperature scale in which the measurements will be displayed. Briefly press the M button to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit. Confirm your choice by pressing the function key (1) briefly. In the measurement memory viewing mode, long pressing of the M button clears the measurement memory of the instrument. While the unit is in standby, briefly press the function key. When the display shows three horizontal bars, a long press on the M button will switch the audible indication on and off.

“Lo” appears on the display and its backlight is red| The result of the performed measurement is below the lower limit of the body temperature measurement range (32ºC).
“Hi” appears on the display and its backlight is red| The result of the performed measurement is above the higher limit of the body temperature measurement range (43ºC).
---|---
The display flashes in the display and the device beeps four times| There was an IR sensor error or a general hardware error. Contact the manufacturer’s service department.
If the problem persists, contact service center.
