Product Information

The FNW figure 7203 and 7204 beam clamps are malleable iron beam clamps used for installation purposes. This product is designed to securely hold loads in line with threaded rods, ensuring proper installation and preventing failure of the beam clamp. The beam clamps are available in different sizes and have load and temperature capacities as specified in the table below:

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

MALLEABLE IRON BEAM CLAMPS
This instruction manual includes installation and proper use information for FNW figure 7203 and 7204 malleable iron beam clamps.

PROPER USE
To avoid personal injury to yourself, fellow workers, or damage to property from improper use:

  • Verify beam clamps are used within listed load and temperature limits (see load charts, page 2).
  • Only install beam clamps with loads in line with threaded rod (suppled by others).
  • Do not install beam clamps with loads at angles to threaded rod or by bending threaded rod as stresses can be transmitted unpredictably to the clamp.
  • Reverse installation of beam clamps is not allowed. *3/8″ only size acceptable for reverse installation (max load 200 lbs).
  • Only use hardware (i.e. Clamp, Set Screw, and Hex Nut) suppled in this kit. Use of third party hardware will void any warranty with FNW.
  • Do not overtighten set screw beyond what is outlined in these instructions. Overtightening can reduce load capacity up to and including failure of the beam clamp.

YES
Proper installation with load in line with threaded rod.

NO
Improper installation with load at angle to threaded rod.

NO
Improper installation with bent threaded rod.

NO
Improper installation with beam clam in reverse direction. *3/8″ only size acceptable for reverse installation (max load 200 lbs).

The FNW figure 7203 and 7204 beam clamp can be installed with, or without, a torque wrench.

With Torque Wrench

  • Place clamp, without load, onto beam.
  • Tighten the set screw to 5.0 ft-lbs (60 in-lbs).
  • Tighten the hex nut to lock the set screw in place.
  • Place clamp, without load, onto beam.
  • Tighten the screw set to finger tight.
  • Using a wrench, continue tightening the set screw an additional 1/4 to 1/3 turn.
  • Tighten the hex nut to lock the set screw in place.

DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE SET SCREW
We reserve the right to modify or improve the designs or specifications of our products at any time without notice.

LOAD & TEMPERATURE CAPACITIES

The FNW figure 7203 and 7204 brochure list their maximum load capabilities when used within the standard temperature range of 5°F to 212°F. Extended temperature range of -22°F through 5°F and 212°F through 482°F is permitted at the reduced load capacity of 60% maximum (i.e. extended temperature ranges reduce maximum load capacity by 40%). The chart below lists standard and reduced capacity load capabilities depending on temperature.
