  • If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and pro-tect it from any accidental use. DO NOT attempt to repair the product yourself. Safe op-eration can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
    • is visibly damaged,
    • is no longer working properly,
    • has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
    • has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.

Power adapter
Do not modify or repair mains supply components including mains plugs, mains cables, and power supplies. Do not use damaged components. Risk of death by electric shock!

  • Connect the appliance to a wall socket that can be accessed easily.
  • As power supply, only use the supplied mains adaptor.
  • Only connect the power adaptor to a normal mains socket connected to the public sup-ply. Before plugging in the power adaptor, check whether the voltage stated on the power adaptor complies with the voltage of your electricity supplier.
  • Never connect or disconnect power adaptors if your hands are wet.
  • Never unplug the power adaptor from the mains socket by pulling on the cable; always use the grips on the plug.
  • For safety reasons, disconnect the power adaptor from the mains socket during storms.
  • Do not touch the power adapter if there are any signs of damage, as this may cause a fatal electric shock! Take the following steps
    • Switch off the mains voltage to the socket containing the power adapter (switch off the corresponding circuit breaker or remove the safety fuse, and then switch off the cor-responding RCD protective switch).
    • Unplug the power adapter from the mains socket.
    • Use a new power adapter of the same design. Do not use the damaged adapter again.
  • Ensure that cables are not pinched, kinked or damaged by sharp edges.
  • Always lay cables so that nobody can trip over or become entangled in them. This poses a risk of injury.

Connected devices

  • Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices which are con-nected to the product.

Electrostatic discharge (ESD)

  • Ensure suitable protective measures are taken against static charge (e.g. ground strap, non-conductive pad, etc.) when touching or inserting the SSD modules.
  • Only grasp the SSD modules on the side of the circuit board, do not touch the compon-ents on the circuit board. Electrostatic discharges can destroy the SSDs.

Installing SSD drives

The SSD bays support different tasks. Install the SSD drive(s) in the bay(s) that support your task.

Task Source Target
Clone data from source to target SSD drive Bay A Bay B
Read and write to SSD drive via computer If one SSD drive : install in

bay A

If two SSD drives : install in bays A and B

Important
Cloning

  • The target drive must have at least the same capacity as the source drive. You cannot start the cloning process with a target drive that is smaller than the source drive.

Preconditions
The SSD drive matches of one of the sizes: 2230, 2242, 2260, 2280.

  1. Ground yourself with an anti-static wrist strap to discharge electrostatic charges. Electro-static charges could damage electronic components.
  2. Disconnect the power supply from the docking station.
  3. At the notch at the rear of the docking station, pull the magnetic cover up and remove it.
  4. Remove the backings from the heat dissipation pad and stick the pad onto the SSD bay. See fig. → r1.
  5. Insert a rubber plug into the SSD drive. See fig. → r2.
  6. Hold the SSD drive by its edges and connect the drive to the connector. See fig. → r3.
  7. Push the SSD drive down carefully to secure it.
  8. Attach the magnetic cover to the docking station.

Cloning SSD drives
With the offline clone function you can clone the data of the source SSD drive to the target SSD drive without a computer.

Important

  • The target drive must have at least the same capacity as the source drive. You cannot start the cloning process with a target drive that is smaller than the source drive.
  • All data stored on the target drive will be deleted at the beginning of the cloning.
  • Both drives will have the same ID after cloning. If you connect both drives to a com-puter only one drive will be shown in the file manager.
  • If two drives have the same ID (for example after cloning two SSD drives), only one will show in the file manager of the computer. Under the Windows® operating system, you can make both drives show by setting the drive that is Offline to Online in the Windows® Disk Management settings.

Preconditions
The docking station is NOT connected to a computer.

  • The source SSD drive is installed in bay A.
  • The target SSD drive is installed in bay B.
  1. Connect the power adaptor to the power supply port on the docking station.
  2. Connect the power adaptor to a suitable mains socket.
  3. Press the On/Off button POWER to switch the docking station on.
    • The SSD drive bay indicator(s) light up to indicate that drives are connected.
  4. To start the cloning process, press and hold the clone button Clone (approx. 5 – 7s) until the progress indicators flash.
    • Indicators light up solid after reaching cloning percentage (25 – 100 %).
    • When the indicator 100% lights up, cloning is complete.
  5. Press the On/Off button POWER to switch the docking station off.
You have cloned the source drive to the target drive.

Notes

  • If two drives have the same ID (for example after cloning two SSD drives), only one will show in the file manager of the computer. Under the Windows® operating system, you can make both drives show by setting the drive that is Offline to Online in the Windows® Disk Management settings.
  • Unformatted drives must be formatted via disk management before they can be used.
  • Eject the drives via the system menu before you disconnect the docking station from the computer to prevent data corruption.
  • Eject the drives via the system menu before you remove them from the docking station to prevent data corruption.
  1. Connect the USB-C® cable to the USB-C® port on the docking station and your com-puter.
  2. Connect the power adaptor to the power supply port on the docking station.
  3. Connect the power adaptor to a suitable mains socket.
  4. Press the On/Off button POWER to switch the docking station on.
    • The SSD drive bay indicator(s) light up to indicate that drives are connected.
    • The SSD drive(s) will show on the computer.
  5. Read data from and write data to the SSD drives.
  6.  After use, press the On/Off button POWER to switch the docking station off.
  7. Disconnect the power adaptor from the mains supply.

Removing SSD drives

  1. Disconnect the power supply from the docking station.
