Product Information

The 60-Watt Low Voltage Transformer with Photocell, item #99070, is a low voltage transformer designed for use with outdoor landscape lighting systems and LGPC submersible fixtures. It comes with a 12-Volt Quick-Connect Fitting for easy installation.

Safety Information

  • This product should be grounded to reduce the risk of electrical shock in the event of an electrical short circuit.
  • Do not repair or tamper with the cord or plug.
  • Do not use extension cords or submerge the transformer.
  • Do not connect two or more power supplies in parallel.
  • Do not use with a dimmer.
  • Ensure that the fixture(s) are installed in accordance with all local codes and ordinances. This transformer is not for use with pool/spa equipment.

Installation

For optimal performance, it is recommended to install the transformer as close to the fixtures as possible to avoid voltage drops caused by long electrical cable runs.

Electrical Connections:

  1. Connect the wires to the terminal screws, ensuring that the wire insulation clears the pressure plate.
  2. Tighten the terminal screws securely.
  3. Complete the wiring and ensure proper insulation.

Refer to the provided diagrams (Ex. 1, Ex. 2, Ex. 3) for visual guidance on installation.

Operation

The transformer operates automatically based on the ambient light conditions. It turns on at dusk and turns off at dawn. The transformer also features a programmable timer with options for 4,6, or 8 hours of operation (Ex. 5).

Warranty Information

The 60-Watt Low Voltage Transformer with Photocell is covered by a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects. Proof of purchase is required. The warranty does not cover damage resulting from electrical supply problems, improper wiring, lightning,negligent handling, misuse, or lack of reasonable maintenance or care. Operating the light fixture outside of the 9-15 volt operating range voids the product warranty and may damage or shorten the life of the LED’s.

Installation

LOCATION

  • It is recommended to locate the transformer as close to the light fixtures as possible in order to avoid voltage drops caused by long electrical cable runs (Ex 1).

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

  • Quick-Connect Electrical Connections
    • For your convenience, all Aquascape, Inc. LED Pond and Landscape light fixtures include a 12-volt quick-connect at the end of the electrical cable providing tool-free electrical connection from the transformer to the light. Additional quick-connect 12-volt accessories, such as 3-way and 6-way splitters, as well as quick-connect extension cables are also available to help complete your lighting project.
  • Hard Wiring Directly to Transformer
    • To connect low voltage cable, split one end of cable approximately 2″ and strip about 1/2″ of insulation off each wire. Insert wire under terminal as shown (Ex. 3). Tighten screw securely (Ex. 4).Aquascape-99070-60-Watt-Low-Voltage-Transformer-fig-3
    • Plug transformer into a GFCI outdoor electrical outlet that has a weather-resistant cover, do not use extension cord

OPERATION (Ex. 5)

  • Transformer’s photocell turns unit on at dusk.
    • A Auto: turns unit on at dusk /off at dawn
    • B 4H: turns unit on at duck/off after 4 hours
    • C 6H: turns unit on at duck/off after 6 hours
    • D 8H: turns unit on at dusk/off after 8 hours
  • Turn transformer to “AUTO” and cover photocell for 30-60 seconds to test. Hide or bury cable as desired only after entire installation is completed and lighting effect is achieved.

Troubleshooting

  • It wont turn on
    • Make sure transformer is plugged in. Is outlet working?
    • Caution: If circuit breaker trips when the transformer is turned on –
    • Unplug the transformer from the AC outlet. Correct fault. Reset the circuit breaker and plug transformer back in.
    • Is lamp burned out? Use another lamp to test.
    • To maximize the life of the transformer and lights.

The transformer should only be operated at 80% of its total wattage (ie. 80% of 60 watts = 48 watts).

Warranty Information

ONE YEAR WARRANTY
Aquascape warrants that the transformer will be free of manufacturing defects for one year after date of purchase. Proof of purchase required. Warranty does not cover damage resulting from electrical supply problems, improper wiring, lightning, negligent handling, misuse, or lack of reasonable maintenance or care. This product should only be operated in fresh water without corrosive chemicals like chlorine or bromine. If upon Aquascape’s inspection, the transformer shows evidence of a manufacturing defect, Aquascape’s liability is limited, at Aquascape’s option, to the repair of the defect, or the replacement of the defective product or refund of the original purchase price. The warranty excludes costs of labor, removal of product, shipping, and expenses related to the installation and re-installation of the product. No liability for loss or damage of any nature or kind, whether arising out of or from the use of the product, whether defective or not defective, is assumed by Aquascape, Inc. or its affiliates. Aquascape shall not be liable for any incidental, consequential or other damages arising under any theory of law whatsoever.
