Requirement
Radio with 8-pin CD changer port and CD-C button
Introduction
Many with older cars looking for a simple way to play audio devices without
replacing the radio will be pleased to find this solution. The A2D-CHRY98
adapter provides a Wireless music streaming solution for smartphones, Kindles,
and tablets with an A2DP profile. A wireless connection means no wires,
clutter, or complicated setup. The A2D-CHRY98 works in 1999-01 Chrysler radios
with CDC-C button and connects to radio 8-pin port which guarantees to best
possible sound. CD changer (if present) must be disconnected.

Installation
Radio must be removed from the dashboard to gain access to the connectors.
Vehicle-specific radio removal is not part of this guide; however, these may
be available upon request.

Disconnect any factory option (e.g., CD changer) from the radio

Connect module 8-pin plug (See Fig. 1) to radio 8-pin connector (See Fig. 2)

Connect/splice/Tap red wire (See Fig. 3) to a 12V accessory (switched) supply in the vehicle. 12V accessory or switched supply is available on the radio harness.
Warning: Avoid connecting 12V accessory wire to battery (always on) supply. -
Secure module

Proceed to “Pairing”
Pairing
The pairing process varies between phones but the basic steps are the same. This process is done upon initial installation and will not have to be repeated.
- Turn Ignition and radio “ON”
- On an A2DP device: go to Settings, Wireless & Networks, Bluetooth Settings
- Select Bluetooth and turn it on.
- Then select Bluetooth settings
- Tap Scan for devices.
- Wait for the Bluetooth device name to appear and select it. (See below) Blue LED inside module glows steady (paired)
Operation

Turn ignition to “ACC” and radio “ON”

Press the “CD-C” button on the radio to enter Bluetooth mode.

Launch the audio application on Smartphone or Tablet and check that the device volume is set to 80% or more

Turn the radio volume control button to set the playback level.
Warning: Use smartphone or tablet built-in controls to access and control audio files or applications. -
If the correct operation is confirmed go ahead and reinstall the radio.
Frequent ask questions
1. Will the A2D-CHRY98 work on all Chrysler 8-pin radios?****
– NO; Works on all Chrysler rounded face radios with CD-C button. Older 8pin radios (square face) require our A2D-CHRY
2. My radio has a “rounded face” and a Mode button (No CDC-C button). Will the A2D-CHRY98 work?****
– NO; 2001-Up radios with mode button require our A2D-CHRY02.
3. Can I use the A2D-CHRY98 to make/receive phone calls?****
– NO; The A2D-CHRY98 is for audio streaming and does not support hands-free calls.
4. Will I have to disconnect the remote CD changer?****
– YES, this adapter uses the 8-pin changer port. Any and all devices using this port will need to be disconnected.
5. Can I use the radio buttons to control songs and display text?****
– No, you must use an audio device built-in display and controls. Chrysler radio buttons (except volume and tone controls) do not apply.
