The IL-CR12 adapter allows Porsche CR-1 and CR-2 cassette radios in models 911, 944, 964, 968, 993 to charge and play music files from Apple’s latest iPods, iPhones, and Tablets. The adapter connects directly to the radio CD port and provides a simple upgrade that enables the factory radio to support new technology. The factory CD changer (if present) must be disconnected. The adapter does not work with Porsche CD-1, CD-2, CD-10.

Requirements
  • Porsche CR-1 and CR-2 radios

  • Wiring access to the radio

  2. Locate the flat plate with a latch on either side of the radio. These plates drop down and lock the radio into frame.
  3. Use a small flathead screwdriver to raise the plate on both sides and simultaneously pull the radio out from the dash. Grasping the cassette opening provides some leverage or remove glovebox to push radio from rear.
  4. If present, disconnect CD changer 13-pin plug from the radio.
  5. Connect 13-pin plug from module to radio 13-pin socket.
  6. Run/route Lightning plug to the desired location on dashboard, glove box, console, etc. (within 4 ft. of radio). Use caution to not cut, pinch or crimp Lightning cable during this step.
  7. Secure lightning cable in a location away from heat, humidity, moving parts, or sharp metal objects. Damage to the lightning plug may occur if subject to abuse.
  8. Reinstall the radio if successful.

  2. Connect your Apple IOS device to the lightning plug.
  3. The Apple device should begin charging.
  4. Press the CD button to enter CD mode.
