SIEMENS FDMH291-x Manual Call Point Housing With Key
Product Information
The product is a manual call point that is used to activate alarms manually in the event of a fire. It consists of an enclosure (FDMH291-x) and a switching unit. A protective cover (FDCM291) can be supplied as an accessory.

Installation Height
The back box should be mounted at a height of 0.9…1.6 m on a flat surface.

Product Usage Instructions
Preparation
- Break the key (1) out of the housing cover (2) and keep it in a safe place.
- Determine the entry opening(s) in the back box (3):
- For recess-mounted cable entry: Breakout point in back box (3).
- For surface-mounted cable entry: Markings on the top and bottom of the back box (3) for hole(s) with a diameter of max. 20 mm.
Note: Observe the tool manufacturer’s safety notices to avoid the risk of injury when drilling.
Installation
- Mount the back box (3) at the desired height on a flat surface, following country-specific regulations.
- Pull the cable through the entry opening into the back box (3).
- If using surface-mounted cable entry, use metal cable glands M20 x 1.5 with metal counter nut M20 x 1.5 (accessories).
- Close the back box (3) with the housing cover (2).
Installation of Protective Cover FDMC291
- Use the key (1) to pull the housing cover (2) forwards and off the back box (3).
- Remove the glass insert.
- Guide the protective cover (4) through the opening in the housing cover as shown in Fig. (8).
- Insert the pivot pins for the protective cover (4) in the two recesses on the rear side of the housing cover (2).
- Install the glass insert.
- Install the housing cover (2) on the back box (3).
Connecting the Switching Unit to the Electricity

1. Use the key (1) to pull the housing cover (2) forwards and off the back box (3). Press the key against the housing cover (2) while doing this.
- Connect the feed line to the terminals in the switching unit, following the connection diagram. Note the positive and negative poles. Only connect one wire per terminal.
- If using a manual pull station on conventional detector circuits, insert a control panel-specific end-of-circuit RL in the last manual pull station.
- If using switching unit MTE320C, insert a control panel-specific alarm resistor RA.
- When inserting the switching unit into the back box (3), be careful not to crush the feed line. The word ‘TOP’ on the switching unit should face upwards.
- Press the switching unit firmly into the back box (3).
Note:
Deactivating the manual call points prevents alarms from being forwarded. Mark
deactivated or non-functional manual call points with “NOT IN USE”.

Preparation

With surface-mounted cable entry: Markings on the top and bottom of the back box (3) for hole(s) with diameter of max. 20 mm (Fig. 4).

Observe the tool manufacturer’s safety notices.
Installation

Installation of protective cover FDMC291
- Use the key (1) to pull the housing cover (2) forwards and off the back box (3) (Fig. 5).
- Remove the glass insert.
- Guide the protective cover (4) through the opening in the housing cover as shown in Fig. (8).
- Insert the pivot pins for the protective cover (4) in the two recesses on the rear side of the housing cover (2).
- Install the glass insert.
- Install the housing cover (2) on the back box.
Connecting
Connecting the switching unit to the electricity

Use the key (1) to pull the housing cover (2) forwards and off the back box (3). While doing this, press the key against the housing cover (2) (Fig. 5).

Connect the feed line to the terminals in the switching unit (Fig. 6 and 7) in accordance with the connection diagram.
- Note the positive and negative poles. Only connect one wire per terminal. This is the only way to ensure the connection is failure-free for the entire service life of the device.

When using the manual pull station on conventional detector circuits:
Insert a control panel-specific end-of-circuit RL in the last manual pull station. -
When using switching unit MTE320C: Insert a control panel-specific alarm resistor RA (Fig. 7).

When inserting the switching unit into the back box (3), note the feed line. Avoid crushing the feed line.

Insert the switching unit into the back box (2) with the word ‘TOP’ facing upwards (Fig. 3).

Press the switching unit firmly into the back box (3).
WARNING!- Deactivating the manual call points prevents alarms from being forwarded
- Alarming does not take place
- Mark deactivated or non-functional manual call points with “NOT IN USE”!

Place the housing cover (2) on the back box (3).

Press the housing cover (2) firmly onto the back box (3) until you hear the cover (2) snap in.
- The manual call point is installed.
