VENTILATION
It is important that the device is well ventilated and that air can circulate freely above, below and around the device. The figure shows how to ensure the necessary air circulation around the freezer.

Defrosting of the freezer
The freezer, however, will become progressively covered with frost. This should be removed. Never use sharp metal tools to scrape off frost from the evaporator as you could damage it. However, when the ice becomes very thick on the inner liner, complete defrosting should be carried out as fellows:

  • Unplug the unit. Remove the drain plug from the inside of the freezer. Defrosting usually takes a few hours. To defrost faster keep the freezer door open.

  • For draining, place a tray beneath the outer drain plug. Pull out the drain dial .

  • Rotate the drain dial 180 degree. This will let the water flow out in the tray. When done, push the drain dial in. Replug the drain plug inside the freezer compartment. Note: monitor the container under the drain to avoid overflow.

  • Wipe the interior of the freezer and replace the electrical plug in the electrical outlet.

  • Reset the temperature control to the desired setting.

USAGE TIPS Freezer
In order to preserve all their qualities in food products, they must be frozen at -18°C as quickly as possible.
The freezing capacity of the appliance is indicated on the type plate in kg/24 hours.
Use only good quality food products. Meat, poultry, fish, vegetables, fruit, dairy products and ready meals are ideal for freezing. Foods with a high concentration of water, such as lettuces, radishes, grapefruits, apples, cucumbers and pears, are not suitable for freezing. Pack products in airtight containers, freezer bags, etc. Adapt the size of the portions to their use. Do not freeze vegetables or meat in portions weighing more than 2.5 kg. Keep bags and pouches out of moisture to prevent them from “stick” together. Place the products in such a way that they are as little as possible in contact with each other, in order to accelerate their freezing.
Evacuate the air contained in the packaging to prevent the surface of the products from drying out.
Place the goods to be frozen in the freezing module or evenly along the walls of the tank.
Do not forget to note the content, quantity and date on each package. It is advisable to divide the different products into categories. That is, it is better to group vegetables with  vegetables, meat with meat, etc.
Leave at least 5 mm of space under the lid when stacking the products.

Defrosting
Frozen fruits and vegetables should not be thawed before use, but immersed directly in boiling water. As far as meat is concerned, it is best to take it out of the freezer the day before it is to be used and place it in the chest freezer to thaw: in this way, optimal hygiene and perfect preservation of the quality of the meat are achieved.

Remark
Aerosols and cans containing a liquid in which is dissolved carbon dioxide must not be frozen because of the risk of explosion.

CARE AND CLEANING

DEFROST
The humidity brought by the products and by the ambient air leads over time to the formation of frost and ice in the appliance. A thin layer of frost or ice has no influence on the operation of the freezer, but the thicker the layer becomes, the higher the energy consumption. A thin layer of ice can be removed using a plastic scraper.
Never use an electrical appliance or pointed object that could damage the inside of the appliance.
When the layer of frost or ice reaches a thickness of 4-5 mm, the freezer must be defrosted. It is recommended to defrost when the freezer is almost or completely empty.

Proceed as follows:

  1. Unplug the device.
  2. Take out the frozen products. Keep them in the chest freezer or well wrapped to limit defrosting as much as possible.
  3. Leave the lid open.
  4. Place the partition under the spout of the defrost duct.
  5. Place a container of hot (not boiling) water in the freezer, close the lid and wait about 30 minutes, then remove the frost with a plastic scraper.
  6. To prevent water from overflowing onto the floor during defrosting, monitor the water collection tray. The floor around the defrost water spout should be covered to protect it from ice and splashing. When all the ice has melted, clean the freezer with fragrance-free washing-up liquid diluted in plenty of water. Wipe with a soft cloth.
  7. Plug the device back in. Wait about five minutes after switching the appliance back on before putting the frozen products back in.

Tips for minimizing energy consumption

  • A low ambient temperature results in lower energy consumption.
  • A low temperature in the device results in higher power consumption.
  • Recommended temperature -18°C
  • Defrost the unit when the ice formation is more than 5mm.
  • Do not open the lid more often than necessary.
  • Regularly check the tightness of the lid
  • Cool hot foods and beverages before placing them in the freezer.
  • Thaw frozen products in the chest freezer.
  • Place frozen foods in the chest freezer while the freezer is defrosting.

CLEANING
Before cleaning, unplug the appliance and remove all loose parts.
Preferably use lukewarm water with a little fragrance-free washing-up liquid (max. 65°C). Never use abrasive cleaning products. Use a soft cloth. Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly. Avoid getting water into the control panel.
The lid gasket requires regular cleaning to prevent discoloration and to ensure its longevity. Use clear water. After cleaning the cover seal, check that it still fulfills its role.
The ventilation grille must be clean. Clean it with a vacuum cleaner.
In the event of prolonged absence, unplug, empty and clean the appliance and leave the lid open to avoid the creation of bad smells.
