Product Usage Instructions
- Before installation, carefully read the manual and follow all instructions to prevent damage to the crossovers/speakers and possible injury.
- For optimal performance and warranty coverage, it is recommended to have the product installed by an authorized HELIX dealer. If you choose to perform your own installation, please read the following precautions carefully.
- Ensure that the speaker will fit into the intended mounting location and that there is sufficient depth for the magnet system.
- Check for adequate space between the speaker and window, window crank, power window mechanism, seat, rear deck torsion bars, or any other items that may interfere with the speaker’s mounting. Pay attention to detailed size information provided in the manual. The mounting surface should be flat and free from obstructions.
- Correctly connect the crossovers and loudspeakers in polarity. Exchanging plus and minus may result in a significant loss of sound quality. The positive leads of the loudspeakers are marked red.
- Protect all speaker wiring from cutting or wear at sharp edges to avoid short circuits that may damage your head unit, amplifier, and/or speaker system.
- Ensure that all connection wires are long enough to avoid mechanical stress on the wires or connectors.
- Mount all components properly and avoid mounting them where they may be exposed to water splashes.
- The quality of the installation greatly affects the overall performance of the speaker system. Pay close attention to each installation step.
- Avoid low-frequency cancellation caused by air leakage between the speaker basket and the mounting surface. Ensure that the speaker is mounted on a flat, even surface and in an appropriate-sized hole.
- In some cases, mounting panel reinforcement may be necessary to ensure a stable and torsion-free surface. Consult an installation specialist for further advice.
- Whenever possible, use the original speaker mounting locations in the doors, A-pillars, body panels, or rear deck. If not available, prepare a secure installation place. Follow the instructions provided in the Installation section of the manual.

General instructions
General instructions for installing HELIX loudspeakers
To prevent damage to the crossovers / speakers and possible injury, read this
manual carefully and follow all installation instructions. This product has
been checked for proper function prior to shipping and is guaranteed against
manufacturing defects.
For a proper performance and to ensure full warranty coverage, we strongly
recommend to get this product in-stalled by an authorized HELIX dealer.
If you choose to perform your own installation read the following information
and precautions carefully.
Failure to follow the stated precautions may result in personal injury and /
or damage to the audio system or vehicle.
- Always make sure that the speaker will fit into the in-tended mounting location and that there is adequate depth for the magnet system.
- Check for adequate space between speaker and window, window crank, power window mechanism, seat, rear deck torsion bars, and other items which may interfere with the speaker`s mounting. This is very important if any hole cutting is required. Detailed size information is indicated in the dimen-sion section of this manual. Take care that the mount-ing surface is flat and free from all obstructions.
- Ensure that the crossovers and loudspeakers are correctly connected in polarity. Exchanging plus and minus may result in significant loss of sound quality. The positive leads of the loudspeakers are marked red.
- Make sure that all speaker wiring is fully protected from cutting or wear at sharp edges, which can lead to short circuits that may damage your head unit, amplifier and / or speaker system.
- Verify that all connection wires are long enough in order to avoid any mechanical stress on the wires or the connectors.
- Make sure that all components are mounted prop-erly.
- Do not mount the components where water may splash on them.
- The quality of the installation has a significant effect on the overall performance of the speaker system. Treat each installation step with a high degree of attention.
- Avoid low frequency cancellation caused by air leak-age between the speaker basket and the mounting surface (e.g. mounted on a bended or uneven sur-face or mounted in an oversized hole).
- Mounting panel reinforcement may be necessary in some cases in order to ensure a stable, torsion-free and even surface. This can be achieved by mounting the speaker on a metal, plastic or wooden sub-baffle behind the body or door panel. Consult an installa-tion specialist for further advices.
- In most cases you can use the original speaker mounting locations in the doors, A-pillars, body pan-els or the rear deck. If these are not available you have to prepare your own secure installation place. Due to their structural integrity and accessibility the precut mounting holes should be used whenever possible. Information on a proper mounting can be found in the section “Installation” of this manual.
IMPORTANT: Never cut any metal that is an integral part of an
automobile`s safety or structural car body.
We strongly recommend that you operate the complete audio system at low volume
before final installation. So you can check whether each speaker is working
before securing the loudspeakers into their mounting locations.
Flex-Crossover configuration options
The Flex-Crossover offers two configuration options
Option 1
Connecting the crossovers in vehicles with mounting positions of tweeter and
midrange / midbacks / woofer close to each other, e.g. in the car door.
Option 2
Connecting the crossovers in vehicles with separate mounting positions of
tweeter and midrange / midbacks / woofer, e.g. tweeter in the A-pillar and
midrange / mid-bass / woofer in the car door.
Flex-Crossover wiring option 1: Mounting positions within close proximity
Connecting the crossovers in vehicles with mounting positions of tweeter and
woofer close to each other, e.g. in the car door.
Flex-Crossover wiring option 2: Separate mounting positions
Connecting the crossovers in vehicles with separate mounting positions of
tweeter and woofer, e.g. tweeter in the A-pillar and woofer in the car door.
-
Press the acrylic cover together with slight pressure and pull it off towards the top.
-
Remove the two jumpers and the 8 screws (red marked). Then fold the circuit board in the middle into two parts.
-
Connection of the crossovers.
Note: Before connecting the loudspeakers, it is advisable to pull the enclosed heat shrink tubing over the loud-speaker cables in order to insulate the circuit boards after connection. -
Isolate the two circuit boards by pulling the heat shrink tubing’s over circuit boards and shrinking them in. Never install the circuit boards uninsulated! Risk of short circuit!
Tweeter level & lowpass filter adjustment
The crossover allows to optimize the level of the connected tweeter as well as the adjustment of the lowpass filter slope to the connected COMPOSE midrange, midbacks or woofer internally by repositioning level jumpers. Therefore open the crossover housing, pull the appropriate jumper straight upwards and reinsert it to the desired position.
Tweeter level adjustment
The correct tweeter level setting strongly depends on the location of the
speakers. Then confirm the level by listening to the speakers and modify the
jumper setting if needed.
+2 dB: The level of the tweeter is increased by 2 dB.
0 dB: The tweeter has the optimum level for most applications.
-2 dB: The level of the tweeter is reduced by 2 dB.
4 dB: The level of the tweeter is reduced by 4 dB.
Lowpass filter adjustment
We recommend to use the following lowpass filter slope setting for the
connected midrange, midbass or woofer
