Inspection, points to verify

Petzl recommends a detailed inspection by a competent person at least once every 12 months.
WARNING : your intensity of use may cause you to inspect your PPE more frequently. Follow the procedures described at Petzl.com. Record the results on your PPE inspection form.

Before each use
Verify that the product has no cracks, deformation, marks, wear, corrosion… Check the condition of the sheave and verify that it is working properly. Check the axle and verify that the moving side plate is properly aligned. Check the mobility of the cam and the effectiveness of its spring. WARNING: do not use your NANO TRAXION if it has missing or worn-out teeth. Verify the absence of foreign objects in the mechanism.
During use
It is important to regularly monitor the condition of the product and its connections to the other equipment in the system.
Make sure that all items of equipment are correctly positioned with respect to each other. Beware of foreign bodies (mud, snow, ice, debris…) which can impede the operation of the cam. Beware of objects which can snag the cam and cause it to open.
WARNING : locking effectiveness can vary depending on the state of the rope (wear, moisture, ice…). Visual vercation: warning, when the cam appears to be noticeably outside life body of the device, the progress capture function is disabled.

Compatibility

Verify that this product is compatible with the other elements of the system in your application (compatible = good functional interaction).
Ropes

The NANO TRAXION works on 7-11 mm diameter EN 892 dynamic kemmantle ropes.
The NANO TRAXION works on 8.5-11 mm diameter EN 1891 low stretch kemmantle ropes Cords The NANO TRAXION works on EN 564 cords of diameter 8 mm. See the cord’s Instructions for Use.
Connector
Use a locking connector, preferably oval or pear-shaped. Verify that your connector is compatible with the NANO TRAXION. Make sure that the connector is always loaded on the major axis.

Function principle and test

The NANO TRAXION allows the rope to slide in one direction, and blocks in the other direction. The cam’s teeth initiate the damping action, then the rope is blocked by being pinched against the sheave.

Installing the NANO TRAXION

Rotate the moving side plate into the open position. Install the rope without manipulating the cam: press the rope to move the cam in the opening direction. Close the moving side plate and install a locking connector in the attachment hole. Verify that the rope is locked in the desired direction. WARNING: the NANO TRAXION must be attached so that it can move freely.

Removing the rope
Remove the connector, open the moving side plate. Slide the device upward while separating it from the rope. The rope will naturally free itself from the cam.
Cam positions
To disable the progress capture function raise the can and use your thumb to hold it in a raised position. WARNING: disabling the progress capture function presents a fall risk for the load.
Drop-resistant pulley
To avoid losing your NANO TRAXION, you can install a cord in the keeper cord hole.

Performance
