NovaCHARGE Federal EV Charging Infrastructure Funding
Product Information
The NEVI Program Guide provides information about the Federal EV Charging Infrastructure Funding available. There is a total of $7.5 billion in funding up for grabs, which includes the following programs:
- National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Program – $5 billion
- Rural and Disadvantaged Communities Grants Program – $1.25 billion
- Highway Corridor Grant Program – $1.25 billion
These programs are administered by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) under the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (DOT + FHWA). The NEVI Formula Program provides funding to states for strategically deploying electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and establishing an interconnected network for data collection, access, and reliability. The program also supports the acquisition, installation, and network connection of EV charging stations, as well as their proper operation and maintenance. Funding is available for up to 80% of eligible project costs. All 50 states are approved for the NEVI Program, and more information about each state’s plans can be found on the program’s website. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) has established a Joint Office between the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) and the U.S. Department of Energy (USDOE) to provide technical guidance and assistance to state and local governments implementing EV charging programs. NovaCHARGE’s EV chargers comply with the technical requirements set by USDOT and USDOE. Additionally, there is an Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Tax Credit for Businesses (30C/8911) available for electric vehicle charging stations. Qualifying businesses can receive a 6% credit up to $100,000 per station or a 30% credit by meeting additional wage and apprenticeship requirements. Guidelines for the prevailing wage and apprenticeship requirements have been released by the U.S. Department of Treasury and will go into effect on January 29, 2023. More information can be found in the IRS Guidance on Form 8911. There may also be other incentives, credits, rebates, and offers available depending on your location. file deployment plans with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) by August
1, 2022, and the FHWA approved each state’s plan in September 2022. The public
