Specified Use

The machine is designed for professional use for polishing smoothed drywalls, ceilings, and walls inside and outside, as well as for removing wallpaper residue, paint, coatings, adhesive residue, and loose plaster.
The user bears sole responsibility for any damage caused by inappropriate use.
Generally accepted accident prevention regulations and the enclosed safety information must be observed.

General Safety Instructions

** For your own protection and for the protection of your electrical tool, pay attention to all parts of the text that are marked with this symbol!
WARNING – Reading the operating instructions will reduce the risk of injury.
WARNING** – Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations, and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference. Pass on your electrical tool only together with these documents.

Special Safety Instructions

Hold the power tool with insulated gripping surfaces, because the sanding surface may contact its own cord. Cutting a “live” wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool “live” and could give the operator an electric shock. Pull the plug out of the socket before making any adjustments, changing tools, carrying out maintenance or cleaning.
Secure the workpiece against slipping, e.g. with the help of clamping devices.
WARNING – Always wear protective goggles.
Wear ear protectors when working for long periods of time. High noise levels over a prolonged period of time may affect your hearing. Tightly hold the machine with both hands at the handles (12), (7) provided.
Avoid inadvertent starts: always switch the tool off when the plug is removed from the mains socket or if there has been a power cut. Always work with the grinding media attached.
Do not block the backing pad in order to prevent any overload to the machine. Do not use force to press the backing pad onto the working surface. LED lights (8): Do not look directly into the LED beam.
Do not direct the light beam into the eyes of people or animals.
Reducing dust exposure:
**** Some of the particles generated using this power tool may contain substances known to cause cancer, allergic reactions, respiratory diseases, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. Some of these substances include Lead (in paint containing lead), mineral dust (from bricks, concrete, etc.), additives used for wood treatment (chromate, wood preservatives), some wood types (such as oak or beech dust), metals, and asbestos. The risk from exposure to such substances will depend on how long you or bystanders are being exposed.
Do not let particles enter the body.
Do the following to reduce exposure to these substances: Ensure good ventilation of the workplace and wear appropriate protective equipment, such as respirators able to filter
microscopically small particles.
Observe the relevant guidelines for your material, staff, application, and place of application (e.g. occupational health and safety regulations, disposal).
Collect the generated particles at the source, avoid deposits in the surrounding area.
Use only suitable accessories. In this way, fewer particles enter the environment in an uncontrolled manner.
Use a suitable extraction unit.
Reduce dust exposure with the following measures:
– Do not direct the escaping particles and the exhaust air stream at yourself or nearby persons or on dust deposits.
– Use an extraction unit and/or air purifiers.
– Ensure good ventilation of the workplace and keep it clean using a vacuum cleaner. Sweeping or blowing stirs up dust.
– Vacuum or wash the protective clothing. Do not blow, beat or brush.

Commissioning

Before plugging in, check that the rated mains voltage and mains frequency, as stated on the type plate match your power supply.
Always install an RCD with a maximum trip current of 30 mA upstream.
**** Pull the plug out of the plug socket before any adjustments or servicing are performed.

6.1 Shorten or extend handle bar (LSV 5225 Comfort)
**** Mount max. 2 handles (extensions).

Disassemble handle bar See figure A.

  1. Lift locking bow (5)
  2. Swivel the hook holder (6) downwards.
  3. Pull apart the handle bars (7).
    See figure A.

Assemble handle bars See figure B.

  1. Put together (7) the handle bars as shown.
  2. Swivel the hook holder upwards (6) until the stop.
  3. Fold the locking bow (5) downwards until it touches the handle bar.
  4. Check for secure connection. If the handlebars cannot be connected securely, the tension has to be adjusted. See chapter maintenance.

6.2 Installation of sanding sheet Sanding sheet with velcro-type fastening
Simple attachment and removal thanks to the velcro-type fastening. Simply press on the sanding sheet so that the holes in the sanding sheet (2) are aligned with the support plate (1).
6.3 Dust extraction
To optimize the dust extraction performance, fit the sanding sheet (2) so that the holes on the sanding sheet are aligned with the support plate (1).
For optimum vacuum power turn the brush rim as shown (until the stop): the brush rim (3) completely encompasses the support plate (1) . One can also tell the ideal position when the machine is standing vertically on the handle and the guide edge (4) points directly down. Connect a suitable extraction device to the extractor connection piece (13).
We recommend using an antistatic suction hose Ø 35 mm. When sanding prepared surfaces with high dust generation we recommend using an all-purpose vacuum cleaner with automatic filter cleaning for continuous use (e.g. ASR 35 L ACP, ASR 35 M ACP).
Note: the bush 316062390 is particularly suited as it is secured against slipping with a bayonet closure.  Fix the bush 316062390 to the extraction hose as follows: Remove the bush of the suction hose from the suction hose (left-hand thread) and fix the special bush (left-hand thread).

6.4 Sanding near edges
When sanding near edges turn the brush rim (3) in such a way that the support edge (4) can be guided along the workpiece edge.

Use

Use only in assembled state. Do not switch on the machine if tool parts are missing or defective.
7.1 Switching on/off of the machine
After switching off the machine, only place it down when the motor has come to a standstill. Switch the machine on/off at the switch (10) .
I=On
0=Off
First switch on the machine and then bring the sanding plate to the work surface.
If the requirements for the quality of the sanding result are very high, we recommend to first bringing the sanding plate to the work surface and then switching on the machine.
7.2 Setting speed
Set the speed at the setting wheel (11). This can also be done during the operation. The best way to determine the ideal setting is through a practical trial. Rule of thumb: the softer the material, the lower the speed.
7.3 Switching on/off of the LED light
Use switch (9) to switch the LED light (8) on or off.
(The LED light is on only when the motor is running.)
I=On
0=Off

Cleaning

** Pull the plug out of the plug socket before any servicing or cleaning is performed.
Clean the machine regularly. This includes vacuum cleaning the ventilation louvers on the motor.
Clean the support plate (1) as required (vacuum off the dust). This increases the service life of the velcro-type fastening.
Remove blockages in the sanding head (14)
-Note:** left and right cleaning flaps (15) are not interchangeable, therefore do not interchange! Remove fixing screws of the service flaps (16), remove service flaps and put them aside.
– Vacuum with the crevice nozzle of an extraction device, if required, to ensure clear passage using a wire.
– If required, remove support plate (1) and vacuum the extraction channels underneath and ensure clear passage.
