  1. Taking a seawater sample
Take 2 ml of water from the aquarium with a syringe and pour it into a test vial.

  2. Adding Ca Reagent 1
Add 3 drops of Ca Reagent 1 liquid to the vial tube and stir carefully in a circular movement.

  3. Adding Ca Reagent 2
Shake the Ca Reagent 2 pipette, and then add 3 drops of liquid to the test vial. Stir the solution carefully with circular motions. The liquid in the test vial should turn pink.

    Drawing Ca Reagent 3
Draw 1 ml of Ca Reagent 3 liquid. The tip of the plunger should indicate exactly 1 ml.
NOTE: the air between the fluid and the plunger does not affect validity of the test.

  5. Dosing Ca Reagent 3
Using the syringe with the dispensing needle, drop by drop, add Ca Reagent 3 directly to the liquid in the vial so that there is no liquid left on the walls.
After each drop, stir the vial and observe the color change.

  6. Transition and final color
The pink solution will gradually begin to change color to a transitional color – purple. When you notice, that the liquid has become blue – stop dripping.

  7. Reading and recording the result
Read the value of remaining Ca Reagnet3 fluid in the syringe as Xml indicated by the syringe plunger. Compare it to the chart of results and/or enter it into the user panel in Smart Reef.
