So you‘ve gone and bought yourself a Mystim Tension Lover. A wise choice.
With our digital electro stimulation device, you are opening the gateway to totally new sensual experiences which can be gently stimulating or powerfully thrilling, whichever you prefer.
But let‘s start at the beginning…

Electro stimulation? What‘s that then?

Electro stimulation, or e-stim for short, stands for electrical stimulation and has been becoming ever more popular over the past few years. And that‘s no surprise: your intimate parts contain lots of nerves – far more than other parts of the body, which is why this area is so sensitive – and with a correctly set electro stimulation device and the right toy, you can stimulate every single one of these nerves into ecstasy.
This works just as well on your own as with a lover, and there are almost infi nite ways to enjoy your toy in either situation. These can bring you to a rapid and mighty orgasm, or may involve you indulging yourself for hours on end with a gentle tingling that slowly spreads throughout your entire body. It‘s totally up to you.

To get started, you need three things:

An electro stimulator, such as your Mystim Tension Lover
A toy or pair of electrodes which transmits the impulses to the skin, and
A clear understanding of what‘s safe and what isn‘t

To ensure that there are no issues with the last point in particular, we will now explain how e-stim works, what you shouldn‘t do, and how to use e-stim safely.

Warning and safety notices

Electro stimulation is not dangerous when performed with high-quality products and not „thoughtlessly“.
This means that when using electro stimulation, you must always adhere to the following:
Stick to the „never-above-the-belt rule“.
People with electronic or metallic implants (e.g. pacemakers) must not use electro stimulation without fi rst consulting their doctor. The same applies to people with heart defects or cardiac arrhythmia.
People suff ering from epilepsy must not use electro stimulation without fi rst consulting their doctor.
People using metal contraceptive devices such as a copper coil or chain must not use electro stimulation without fi rst consulting their doctor or the manufacturer of the respective contraceptive implant.
Stimulation must never be applied in such a way that electricity fl ows through the brain or heart.
Never stimulate the larynx or throat. Muscle cramps in this area can lead to asphyxiation.
Electro stimulation devices must not be used in the presence of explosive or fl ammable materials.
Electro stimulation must not be used while operating vehicles or heavy machinery.
Electro stimulation must not be used during pregnancy.
Electro stimulation must only be used on healthy skin.
Keep out of reach of children.

Never take Mystim toys apart, as this damages the interior construction and voids your warranty.

What does an impulse consist of?

Your Mystim Tension Lover stimulates you with electrical impulses. But what does an impulse actually consist of?

Impulse width

The impulse width indicates how long an individual impulse lasts. By varying the intensity and the impulse width, it‘s possible to stimulate diff erent nerve groups. So depending on the desired eff ect and area to be stimulated, diff erent impulse width settings are certainly recommended.
You can set the impulse width with the middle pair of buttons (WIDTH). Use the top button to increase the impulse width, and the bottom one to decrease it. You can regulate it in stages of 1µs with single presses of the button, or you can hold the respective button down to increase or decrease the impulse width more rapidly. The impulse width can be varied in the range of 50 to 260 µs.

Impulse frequency

The impulse frequency indicates in hertz (Hz) the intervals at which electrical impulses are delivered to the electrodes and thus to the skin. The impulse frequency determines the type of stimulation:
for a tingling, vibrating sensation, you will want a higher impulse frequency (from 80 Hz upwards) with which you can no longer distinguish between the individual impulses. For a pounding sensation with which you can clearly feel the individual impulses, we recommend a lower impulse frequency of 10 Hz or less.
You can set the impulse width with the right-hand pair of buttons (RATE). Use the top button to increase the impulse frequency, and the bottom one to decrease it. You can regulate it in stages of 1Hz with single presses of the button, or you can hold the respective button down to increase or decrease the impulse frequency more rapidly. The impulse frequency can be varied in the range of 1 to 260 Hz.

Intensity

The intensity regulates the strength of the individual impulses emitted by the toy. Due to individual variations in tissue resistance, skin density, etc., everyone experiences the strength of the impulses diff erently. You can select the impulse intensity in such a way that you still feel the impulses as a throbbing or tingling sensation, but without this being unpleasant or even painful.
Unless, of course, that‘s how you like it – that‘s okay too.
You can adjust the impulse intensity with the two intensity controls at the top of the device. By turning them clockwise you increase the intensity; by turning them counter-clockwise you can continuously decrease it.
IMPORTANT: Only ever adjust the intensity once you have inserted the toy, and switch off the intensity before removing the toy.

The control elements and their functions

Using your toy

To activate your Tension Lover, turn one or both of the intensity controls clockwise until you hear a „click“ noise. Each of the control dials controls a so-called channel.
As soon as the electro stimulator has been turned on, the extra-large display becomes active, allowing you to see all the settings. You can still read it even with ‚bedroom eyes‘.
You can use either one channel at a time, or both. The only important thing is that you remember to control your toy or toys using the dial to which they are actually connected.
By turning the control dial anti-clockwise, you can turn your device off again.

The programmes

Your Tension Lover features seven pre-set programmes. Want to know which is the best? There‘s only one way to fi nd out: you‘ll have to try them all.
Aft er switching on the device, on the left edge of the display you will see seven rectangles, one of which is blinking. These seven rectangles represent the seven programmes of your Tension Lover. Whichever rectangle is blinking represents the currently active programme. You can decide if you want to adjust all the settings yourself – to do so, simply press the MODE button until „N“ blinks on the display – or whether you prefer using one of the programmes, which follow a pre-set stimulation pattern. But before you change to one of the programmes by pressing the MODE button, please always ensure that 1. you have inserted your toy and 2. have found the right intensity in the „N“ mode. Only then should you try one of the other programmes:

B, or „Burst mode“

In the fi rst programme, Burst (B), individual bursts of 7-10 impulses are emitted in a set pattern. These are a combination of conventional impulses and low-frequency impulses, which is particularly suitable for stimulation over a long period of time.

M, or „Modulated mode“

This programme is described as the modulated mode. In this programme, the impulse intensity increases and decreases in wave-shaped movements, which feels particularly pleasurable and intense.

MR, or „Modulated impulse frequency“

In this mode, the selected impulse frequency initially decreases continuously by 50%, and then subsequently increases again until the starting value has been reached.

MRW, or „Modulated impulse frequency and width“

In this programme, both the impulse frequency and the impulse width decline and increase. The modulations occur in opposite directions, i.e. when the impulse frequency decreases the impulse width increases, and vice versa. The intensity, impulse width and impulse frequency can all be set individually.

SDR, or „Intensity and impulse frequency modulation“

With this setting, the intensity and impulse frequency decrease/increase within a six-second cycle. Here too, the decrease and increase occur in opposite directions. The stimulation intensity decreases by 20%, the impulse frequency increases by 45%, before both returning to their original values. The intensity, impulse width and impulse frequency can all be set individually.

SDW, or „Intensity and impulse width modulation“

In the seventh programme, the intensity and impulse width decrease/increase within a six-second cycle. The decrease and increase once gain occur in opposite directions. The stimulation intensity decreases by 20%, the impulse width increases by 54%, before both returning to their original values. The intensity, impulse width and impulse frequency can all be set individually.

Setting the usage duration

At the very top of your Tension Lover display, you can see the currently selected usage duration. After this time period has elapsed, the electro stimulator will automatically switch off. You can alter the time period in 10-minute steps by pressing the TIME button.

The first time

You are now familiar with the key characteristics of your Mystim Tension Lover – so it‘s time to try it out!If you are still a greenhorn when it comes to e-stim and don‘t have any favourite settings yet, we recommend you start with the following:
Mode: N
Impulse width: 140 µs
Impulse rate: 70 Hz
For this, initially turn the intensity control only until you hear a „click“ sound, input the above settings, and only then insert the toy before increasing the intensity. Here it is important that both of the toy‘s poles are inserted.
That‘s because the intensity of the electricity which will flow from plus to minus is always the same. This means that if there is a lot of skin in contact with the toy, the electricity is distributed across the entire area and therefore feels more gentle. But if you e.g. touch the toy only with your fingertips, all the electricity is concentrated on the small amount of skin on the tips of your fingers.
Think of it like a stream: if the water has plenty of space through which to flow, it is calm and even – but it if has to pass through a gorge, the amount of water does not become less nor does it slow down, but instead shoots through with great pressure.
That‘s why you must always insert the toy before turning on the electricity.
Once the toy is in the right spot, you can turn the intensity up slowly – and we do mean really slowly – until the tingling sensation pleasantly spreads out. As long as the sensation is still pleasant, you can continue to increase the intensity.

And now the time has finally come to experiment:

You can swap tingling for pulsating with a low impulse rate, where the individual electricity bursts are so far apart that you can individually feel them. This happens at a rate of 5 Hz, for example.
To get more of a pounding than a pulsating sensation, you need a low impulse rate and a low impulse width. This happens at a rate of 5 Hz and a width of 5 µs, for example.
Simply click your way through the different programmes and indulge yourself.
Important: When you are finished, please always remember to first switch off your Tension Lover before removing the toy.

Playing without a „real“ accessory – is that even possible?

Yes, it‘s possible. Before deciding whether to take one of our handsome guys to your bed – and if so, which one – you can already really go to town using just the electrodes accompanying your Tension Lover.
The best way for you to do this depends on a variety of factors. What e.g. are your preferences? Are you male or female? Do you use your electro stimulator alone or with a lover?
Depending on these factors, we have put together a few tips for you. But in principle, the following applies: as long as you observe our safety instructions, the possibilities are endless.

Electrode positioning for couples

Because you can use one pair of electrodes per person, you can of course use each of the suggested positionings provided below under „Positioning for him“ and „Positioning for her“.
But if you prefer real „couple interaction“, then give the following a try: both of you position one stick-on electrode from the same pair of cables in your intimate area. Position it at the base of the penis for him, and
on one of the labia for her. During sex, you will now close the electrical circuit and thus both become living electrodes. You will now feel the typical tingling, pulsating and pounding of electro sex not only directly via your own electrodes, but also wherever you touch each other.
Later on, you can of course also do this e.g. with one electrode on one of her labia or on her clitoris, and one on a monopolar cock ring for him. How does the saying go? Love is the only thing which is hornier when shared… or something like that.

Electrode positioning for him

You can e.g. attach one pair of electrodes on the left side and one on the right side of your penis – one pad on the left and one on the right of the glans, as well as one on the left and one on the right of the shaft. Most e-stim users find the sensation of this positioning more intense when the electricity flows from the glans towards the base of the penis.
Another option is to attach two of the electrodes on a buttock, and only the remaining two on the penis.

Electrode positioning for her

Here too, the electrical impulses stimulate everything which is framed by two electrodes. So you can e.g. place one electrode from an electrode pair to the left and right of your clitoris, or to the left and right of your vagina. Or you can e.g. place one electrode on the inside top of your thigh and one onyour perineum.
For this purpose, you can also cut the accompanying electrodes into other shapes and sizes. Just be careful not to cut the cable.
And there is of course nothing to stop you from being additionally pampered by a battery-operated ‚helper‘, or one of flesh and blood.

Your Tension Lover: Battery, cleaning & storage

Your Mystim Tension Lover already comes with a 9V block battery. If you prefer, you can use a rechargeable battery instead. To use this, or to swap the block battery when the „Battery low“ message appears on the LCD display, please use the following procedure:
Pull the lid of the battery compartment all the way down. (Be firm with it, as it can be a little difficult.)
Remove the battery from the battery compartment.
Insert a new 9V battery according to the diagram located on the base of the battery compartment.
Push the lid back into place.
You can simply clean your Tension Lover with a damp cloth and a mild cleaning agent, but should never hold it under flowing water or immerse it in water, as the electro stimulator is not waterproof.
Store your Tension Lover in a cool, dry place – preferably within arm‘s reach of your bed. If you don’t plan on using your device for a while, remove the battery until you next use it.

Lock device settings buttons

To lock the setting buttons, please press and hold the “Time” button while turning on the device using an intensity control. After switching on, press the “Mode” button and now the “Width” button (up arrow), a “lock symbol” appears on the display.

Unlock device settings buttons

To unlock the setting buttons, please first press the “Time” button, which you continue to hold while you turn on the device using an intensity control. After switching on, press the “Mode” button and now the “Width” button (down arrow), the lock symbol in the display is deleted and you can change the setting.

Warranty and warranty extension

We provide a warranty on our products of two years from the date of purchase.
Within the warranty period, we will remove all device defects resulting from material or manufacturing errors. The removal of defects will either be carried out by means of repairs or the replacement of parts or the entire device, as we see fi t.
The warranty excludes: Damages caused by improper use of the device (e.g. connection to the wrong
type of electricity or voltage type, connection to other unsuitable electricity sources, breakages caused
by dropping or similar). The warranty does not cover normal wear or defects which do not signifi cantly infl uence the value or usability of the device.
The warranty expires in the event of interference with the device by non-authorised agents or the use of non-original spare parts.
