Safety Instructions

Safe work with this machine is only possible if you read this operating instruction completely and follow them strictly. Additionally, the general safety instructions of the leaflet supplied with the tool must be observed. Prior to the first use, the user should absolve a practical training. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
When drilling in ceilings or walls make sure you will not cut through electrical mains, gas or water pipes. Use metal detection systems if needed.
Before you start working consult a statics expert to determine the exact drilling position.
The tool must neither be wet nor used in humid environment.

  • Do not use the tool near explosive materials.
  • Do not work with materials containing asbestos
  • Modifications of the tools are prohibited. After an interruption of work the drill machine should only be switched on again if the drill bit can be turned easily.
  • Do not use the machine when one part of the housing is damaged or in case of damages on the switch.
  • Electric tools have to be inspected by a specialist in regular intervals.
  • When using the machine, no cooling water is allowed to get into the motor and the electric mounting parts, no matter in which position you work.
  • If water leaks from the space between gearbox housing and water supply, stop working and have the tool repaired in an authorised service workshop.
  • The diamond wet drill END 40 A is not suitable for overhead drilling
  • Keep the handles dry, clean and free of oil and grease.
  • Do not touch rotating parts.
  • Persons under 16 years of age are not allowed to use the tool.
  • Always work concentrated. Always work in a carefully considered way and do not use the tool when you are not concentrated.
  • Always hold the machine with both hands and maintain a safe standing position. Always consider the reaction moment of the tool.
  • Remove the battery pack from the machine before making any adjustments, changing tools, maintaining or cleaning.
  • Avoid inadvertent starts by making sure that the machine is switched off before fitting the battery pack.

Safety instructions for battery pack:

  • Protect battery packs from water and moisture!
  • Do not expose battery packs to fire!
  • Do not use faulty or deformed battery packs!
  • Do not open battery packs!
  • Do not touch contacts or short-circuit battery packs!
  • A slightly acidic, flammable fluid may leak from defective Li-ion battery packs! If battery fluid leaks out and comes into contact with your skin, rinse immediately with plenty of water. If battery fluid leaks out and comes into contact with your eyes, wash them with clean water and seek medical attention immediately!

Transport of li-ion battery packs:

  • The shipping of li-ion battery pack is subject to laws related to the carriage of hazardous goods (UN 3480 and UN 3481). Inform yourself of the currently valid specifications when shipping li-ion battery packs. If necessary, consult your freight forwarder.
  • Only send the battery pack if the housing is intact and no fluid is leaking. Remove the battery pack from the machine for sending. Prevent the contacts from short-circuiting (e.g. by protecting them with adhesive tape).

For further safety instructions please refer to the enclosures!

Commissioning

Battery pack
Charge the battery pack (1) before use. If performance diminishes, recharge the battery pack.
The ideal storage temperature is between 10°C and 30°C.
Li-Ion battery packs “Li-Power” have a capacity and signal indicator (2):

  • Press the button (3), the LEDs indicate the charge level.
  • If one LED is flashing, the battery pack is almost flat and must be recharged.

Removing the battery pack
Press the battery pack release button (4) and pull the battery pack (1) forwards.

Inserting the battery pack
Slide the battery pack (1) in until it engages.

Switching on and off

Short-Time Operation

  • Switching-on : press on/off switch (5)
  • Switching-off: release on/off switch (5)

Permanent Operation

  • Switching-on: press the on/off switch (5) and, keeping it pressed, engage the lock-on button (6)
  • Switching-off: press the on/off switch (5) and release it again

The machine is equipped with an electronic switch.
With this switch the speed can be regulated according how much pressure you apply. The use is only recommended for start drilling easily.
A permanent operation with reduced speed will lead to an overload, as less cooling air will then be available for the motor which consequently overheats much faster.

Water Supply

The END 40 A is equipped with a water pressure tank (7) to supply the drill bit with cooling water.
To fill the water pressure tank, the pump unit (8) must be unscrewed. Fill the tank with approx. 0.5 l clear water up to the “max.water” mark and screw the pump unit back in. Make sure that the ball valve (9) is closed during this process.
When filling the water pressure tank, make sure that no water enters the air slits of the machine, use a funnel if necessary.
Pump several times to increase the water pressure in the tank accordingly. Make sure that water does not leak uncontrolled anywhere!

Drilling

Switch on the machine and open the ball valve (9). The flow rate can also be regulated via this.
The contact pressure while drilling (especially with drill diameters from 20mm) should be measured in a way that the machine is not overloaded. An excessive contact pressure does not lead to faster drilling. The desired drilling depth can be set with the depth stop (10). Open the wing screw (11) and pull out the depth stop until the distance between the tip of the drill bit and the tip of the depth stop corresponds to the desired drilling depth.
Only use the END 40 A for wet drilling. Dry drilling causes damages on the shaft sealing rings and early wear of the drill bit.

Drill Bit Changing

Attention!
The machine might heat up enormously when you use or sharpen it. You could burn your hands or get cut or ripped by the segments. Always use protective gloves when changing the drill bit.
The drill spindle of the END 40 A has a right-hand thread.
To hold on spindle always use a jaw wrench SW 13.
Never remove the drill bit with impacts because this way the machine will be damaged. With some waterproof grease, which is put on the drill bit thread, you can remove the drill bit easier.

Care and Maintenance

Repairs have to be carried out only by qualified and due to education and experience suited personnel. After every repair the machine has to be inspected by an electric specialist. Due to its design, the machine needs a minimum of care and maintenance.
The following works have to be carried out regularly:

  • The electric tool as well as the ventilation slots always has to be clean.
  • During work, please pay attention that no foreign elements get into the interior of the machine.
  • In case of failure, a repair has to be carried out by an authorized service workshop.

Our after-sales service responds to your questions concerning maintenance and repair of your product as well as spare parts. EIBENSTOCK’s application service team will gladly answer questions concerning our products and their accessories.

Environmental Protection
Raw material recycling instead of waste disposal
In order to avoid damages on transportation, the tool has to be delivered in solid packaging. Packaging as well as unit and accessories are made of recyclable materials and can be disposed accordingly.
The tool’s plastics components are marked according to their material, which makes it possible to remove environmental friendly and differentiated because of available collection facilities.

Only for EU countries
Do not dispose of electric tools together with household waste material!
In observance of European Directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment and its implementation in accordance with national law, electric tools that have reached the end of their life must be collected separately and returned to an environmentally compatible recycling facility.

Special notes regarding cordless machines:
Battery packs may not be disposed of with regular waste. Return faulty or used battery packs to your

Eibenstock dealer!
Before disposal, discharge the battery pack in the power tool. Prevent the contacts from short-circuiting (e. g. by protecting them with adhesive tape).

Noise / Emission

Measured sound values determined according to EN 62841-2-1. Typically the A-weighted noise levels of the product are: Sound pressure level LwA 75 dB(A)
Sound power level LpA 86 dB(A)
Uncertainty K 3 dB
Wear ear protectors!

Vibration total values ah and uncertainty K determined according to EN 62841-2-1:

  • Vibration emission value ah 2,7 m/s2
  • Uncertainty K 0,3 m/s2

The declared vibration emission level represents the main applications of the tool. However, if the tool is used for different applications, with different accessories or poorly maintained, the vibration emission may differ. This may significantly increase the exposure level over the total working period
An estimation of the level of exposure to vibration should also take into account the times when the tool is switched off or when it is running but not actually doing the job. This may significantly reduce the exposure level over the total working period.
Identify additional safety measures to protect the operator from the effects of vibration such as: maintain the tool and the accessories, keep the hands warm, organisation of work patterns.

Warranty

According to the general supply conditions for business dealings, suppliers have to provide to companies a warranty period of 12 months for redhibitory defects. (To be documented by invoice or delivery note.)
Damage due to natural wear, overstressing or improper handling are excluded from this warranty. Damages due to material defects or production faults shall be eliminated free of charge by either repair or replacement. Complaints will be accepted only if the tool was returned in non-dismantled condition to the manufacturer or an authorized Eibenstock service centre.
