Electrical Connection

  • First, check the correspondence between voltage and frequency against the data mentioned on the identification plate. Voltage differences from
    + 6% to – 10% are allowed.

  • The machine is equipped with a soft start which prevents that swift automatic circuit breakers are unintentionally triggered.

  • Before connecting the machine with the mains supply, make sure that it is switched off.

Switching on and off

  • Short-Time Operation
    • Switching-on: press on/off switch (1)
    • Switching-off: release on/off switch (1)

Permanent Operation

  • Switching-on: press the on/off switch (1) and, keeping it pressed, engage the lock button (2)
  • Switching-off: press the on/off switch (1) and let it go off again

Attention!
In case of every stop of the machine, the lock button (2) has to be released immediately by pressing the on/off switch. Consequently, you can avoid an unintentional restart of the machine (physical hazard).

The ESM 1310 is equipped with an adjusting wheel in order to allow a continuously variable control of the speed from 1300 and 3050 rpm. The adjusting wheel is on the top side of the handle opposite of the on/off switch.

Rated speeds

Setting Speed (rpm)
A 1300
B 1600
C 1900
D 2200
E 2500
F 2800
G 3050
  • A permanent use with reduced speed can cause an overload because the motor then gets less cooling air and therefore the machine will be overheated much faster.
  • After working at low speed for a long time, before switching off, let the machine run at maximum speed without load for approx. 30 sec. This will cool the motor.

Functioning of the Electronics

  1. Soft start
  2. Constant speed in case of increasing working pressure
  3. In case of overloading the motor, the speed is reduced until the user of the machine again decreases the working pressure.
  4. By means of a thermal sensor, in case of continuous overload, the motor is protected against destruction. In fact, the machine switches off automatically and only can be switched on again after a certain cooling period (about 2 minutes). Press the on/off switch. The cooling period depends on the heating of motor winding and ambient temperature.

Attention!
High-energy and high-frequency interference can cause fluctuations in speed. In case of low speed adjustments, the machine can be overloaded easier.
Even if the electronics is not interrupted, there is the danger of overload. Therefore, work with soft pressure in order to avoid an excessive heating of the motor due to a too high power input.

Hand Guard
Only run the Calender with the mounted protective hood.

  • You can use the front roller (A) to set the optimum pressure for the sanding rollers or the structure depth when brushing wood. To do this, open the knurled screw (8) and bring the roller into the desired position. Tighten the thumbscrew again.
  • Connect the vacuum hose to the nozzle of the suction hood (C).

Werkzeugwechsel

Attention!
Before the beginning of all works disconnect the plug from the mains!

  • To mount the insert tool (grinding roller, brush …) loosen the wing screw (D) and open the cover (E).

Insert a Finishing Wheel

  • Remove the knurled head screw (F).
  • Put the wheel in a way on the connection shaft that it can be recepted by the two keys of the shaft. Secure the finishing wheel by means of the knurled head screw. EIBENSTOCK-ESM-1311-Satineermachine-Set-fig- \(16\)

Attention!

  • For mounting the Rubber air roller remove one of the keys.
  • Let the machine run for a short period of time and in a safe position. If the machine does not run easily, stop working immediately.
  • Switch the machine on and put it carefully on the surface you want to work on. Hold the tool with both hands and work with circular or linear movements. Never put on the whole surface of the sanding disc. Always grind with a small angle between grinding disc and the surface of the work piece.

Usage of abrasive belts
Mount the expansion wheel on the machine. Put the abrasive belt around the work piece you want to grind. Connect the ends of the abrasive belt and put it on the expansion wheel.

Attention!
Never load the abrasive belt so much that it rips.

Working Advice

  • When sanding, the removal capacity and the surface quality are mainly determined by the abrasive selection as well as through the preselected speed. Work with the lowest possible sanding pressure in order to increase the service life of the abrasive. Excessively increasing the sanding pressure does not lead to a higher sanding capacity, but to more wear of the power tool and the abrasive. Work with moderate feed and perform the sanding parallel and overlapping with respect to the sanding paths.
  • Use only original EIBENSTOCK sanding accessories.
  • Only proper abrasives achieve good sanding capacity and give the power tool longer service life.
  • Do not clamp power tools in the saw stand. Clamped power tools and sharp-edged application tools may result in serious injury.

Care and Maintenance

  • Before the beginning of the maintenance or repair works you have to disconnect the plug from the mains.
  • Repairs may be executed only by appropriately qualified and experienced personnel. After every repair the machine has to be inspected by an electric specialist. Due to its design, the machine needs a minimum of care and maintenance. However, the following points have to be observed:
    • The machine and the ventilation must be cleaned in regular intervals according to degree of contamination by means of compressed air.
    • During work, please pay attention that no particles get inside the machine.
    • In case of failure, a repair has to be carried out by an authorised service workshop.
  • Our after-sales service responds to your questions concerning maintenance and repair of your product as well as spare parts. EIBENSTOCK’s application service team will gladly answer questions concerning our products and their accessories.

Environmental Protection

  • EIBENSTOCK-ESM-1311-Satineermachine-Set-fig- \(17\)Raw material recycling instead of waste disposal
  • To avoid damages on transportation, the power tool has to be delivered in a sturdy packing. The packing as well as the tool and its accessories are made of recyclable materials which makes it possible to remove environmental friendly und differentiated because of available collection facilities.

Only for EU countries

  • Do not dispose of electric tools together with household waste material!
  • In observance of the European Directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment and its implementation in accordance with national law, electric tools that have reached the end of their life must be collected separately and returned to an environmentally compatible recycling facility.

Noise Emission / Vibration
The indication of noise emission is measured according to EN 62841. The level of acoustic pressure on the work place could exceed 85 dB (A); in this case protection measures must be taken.

Wear ear protectors!

  • The typical hand-arm vibration is below 2.5 m/s².
  • Measured values determined according to EN 62841.
  • The declared vibration emission level represents the main applications of the tool. However if the tool is used for different applications, with different accessories or poorly maintained, the vibration emission may differ. This may significantly increase the exposure level over the total working period. An estimation of the level of exposure to vibration should also take into account the times when the tool is switched off or when it is running but not actually doing the job. This may significantly reduce the exposure level over the total working period. Identify additional safety measures to protect the operator from the effects of vibration such as: maintain the tool and the accessories, keep the hands warm, organisation of work patterns.

Dust protection
Dust from material such as paint containing lead, some wood species, minerals and metal may be harmful. Contact with or inhalation of the dust may cause allergic reactions and/or respiratory diseases to the operator or bystanders. Certain kinds of dust are classified as carcinogenic such as oak and beech dust especially in conjunction with additives for wood conditioning (chromate, wood preservative). Material containing asbestos must only be treated by specialists.

  • Where the use of a dust extraction device is possible it shall be used.
  • To achieve a high level of dust collection, use the suction hood and an industrial vacuum cleaner (DSS 25/35/50) for wood and/or minerals together with this tool.
  • The work place must be well ventilated.
  • The use of a dust mask of filter class P2 is recommended.

Warranty

According to our general terms of delivery for business dealings, suppliers have to provide to companies a warranty period of 12 months for redhibitory defects (to be documented by invoice or delivery note). Damages due to natural wear, overstressing or improper handling are excluded from this warranty. Damages due to material defects or production faults shall be eliminated free of charge by either repair or replacement. Complaints will be accepted only if the tool is returned in non- dismantled condition to the manufacturer or an authorized Eibenstock service centre.
