Electrical Connection
First, check the correspondence between voltage and frequency against the data mentioned on the identification plate. Voltage differences from + 6% to – 10% are allowed. The machine is equipped with a soft start which prevents swift automatic circuit breakers from being unintentionally triggered. Before connecting the machine to the main supply, make sure that it is switched off.
Switching on and off
- Short-Time Operation
- Switching on: Press the on/off switch (1)
- Switching-off: release on/off switch (1)
- Permanent Operation
- Switching on: Press the on/off switch (1) and, keeping it pressed, engage the lock button (2)
- Switching-off: Press the on/off switch (1) and let it go off again
Attention!
In the case of every stop of the machine, the lock button (2) has to be
released immediately by pressing the on/off switch. Consequently, you can
avoid an unintentional restart of the machine (physical hazard).
The ESM 1310 is equipped with an adjusting wheel in order to allow a
continuously variable control of the speed from 1300 and 3050 rpm. The
adjusting wheel is on the top side of the handle opposite of the on/off
switch.
Rated speeds
A permanent use with reduced speed can cause an overload because the motor
then gets less cooling air and therefore the machine will be overheated much
faster.
Setting | Speed (rpm) |
---|---|
A | 1300 |
B | 1600 |
C | 1900 |
D | 2200 |
E | 2500 |
F | 2800 |
G | 3050 |
Functioning of the Electronics
-
Soft start
-
Constant speed in case of increasing working pressure
-
In case of overloading the motor, the speed is reduced until the user of the machine again decreases the working pressure.
-
By means of a thermal sensor, in case of continuous overload, the motor is protected against destruction. In fact, the machine switches off automatically and only can be switched on again after a certain
cooling period (about 2 minutes). Press the on/off switch. -
The cooling period depends on the heating of the motor winding and ambient temperature.
Attention!
High-energy and high-frequency interference can cause fluctuations in speed.
In case of low-speed adjustments, the machine can be overloaded easier. Even
if the electronics are not interrupted, there is the danger of overload.
Therefore, work with soft pressure in order to avoid excessive heating of the
motor due to too-high power input.
Hand Guard
Only run the calendar with the mounted hand guard. After opening the Allen
screw M5 can again be turned in a position that is ideal for the application
(always between the machine and user). Afterwards, retighten the Allen screw.
Retooling
Attention!
Before the beginning of all works disconnect the plug from the mains!
Insert a Finishing Wheel
Attention!
For mounting the Rubber air roller remove one of the keys. Let the machine run
for a short period of time and in a safe position. If the machine does not run
easily, stop working immediately. Switch the machine on and put it carefully
on the surface you want to work on. Hold the tool with both hands and work
with circular or linear movements. Never put it on the whole surface of the
sanding disc. Always
Grind with a small angle between the grinding disc and the surface of the
workpiece.
Usage of abrasive belts
Mount the expansion wheel on the machine. Put the abrasive belt around the
workpiece you want to grind. Connect the ends of the abrasive belt and put it
on the expansion wheel.
Attention!
Never load the abrasive belt so much that it rips.
Working Advice
When sanding, the removal capacity and the surface quality are mainly determined by the abrasive selection as well as through the preselected speed. Work with the lowest possible sanding pressure in order to increase the service life of the abrasive. Excessively increasing the sanding pressure does not lead to a higher sanding capacity but to more wear of the power tool and the abrasive. Work with moderate feed and perform the sanding parallel and overlapping with respect to the sanding paths. Only proper abrasives achieve good sanding capacity and give the power tool a longer service life. Do not clamp power tools in the saw stand. Clamped power tools and sharp-edged application tools may result in serious injury.
Care and Maintenance
- Before the beginning of the maintenance or repair work, you have to disconnect the plug from the mains.
- Repairs may be executed only by appropriately qualified and experienced personnel.
- After every repair, the machine has to be inspected by an electric specialist. Due to its design, the machine needs a minimum of care and maintenance. However, the following points have to be observed:
- The machine and the ventilation must be cleaned at regular intervals according to the degree of contamination by means of compressed air.
- During work, please pay attention that no particles get inside the machine.
- In case of failure, a repair has to be carried out by an authorized service workshop.
Our after-sales service responds to your questions concerning the maintenance and repair of your product as well as spare parts. EIBENSTOCK’s application service team will gladly answer questions concerning our products and their accessories.
Environmental Protection
Raw material recycling instead of waste disposal To avoid damage on
transportation, the power tool has to be delivered in a sturdy packing. The
packing as well as the tool and its accessories are made of recyclable
materials which makes it possible to remove environmentally friendly and
differentiated because of the available collection facilities.
Only for EU countries
Do not dispose of electric tools together with household waste material! In
observance of the European Directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and
electronic equipment and its implementation in accordance with national law,
electric tools that have reached the end of their life must be collected
separately and returned to an environmentally compatible recycling facility.
Noise Emission / Vibration
The indication of noise emission is measured according to EN 62841. The level
of acoustic pressure in the workplace could exceed 85 dB (A); in this case,
protection measures must be taken.
Wear ear protectors!
The typical hand-arm vibration is below 2.5 m/s². Measured values determined
according to EN 62841. The declared vibration emission level represents the
main applications of the tool. However, if the tool is used for different
applications, with different accessories, or poorly maintained, the vibration
emission may differ. This may significantly increase the exposure level over
the total working period. An estimation of the level of exposure to vibration
should also take into account the times when the tool is switched off or when
it is running but not actually doing the job. This may significantly reduce
the exposure level over the total working period. Identify additional safety
measures to protect the operator from the effects of vibration such as:
maintaining the tool and the accessories, keeping the hands warm, and
organization of work patterns.
Dust protection
Dust from materials such as paint containing lead, some wood species,
minerals, and metal may be harmful. Contact with or inhalation of the dust may
cause allergic reactions and/or respiratory diseases to the operator or
bystanders. Certain kinds of dust are classified as carcinogenic such as oak
and beech dust, especially in conjunction with additives for wood conditioning
(chromate, wood preservative). Material containing asbestos must only be
treated by specialists.
- Where the use of a dust extraction device is possible it shall be used.
- To achieve a high level of dust collection, use the suction hood and an industrial vacuum cleaner (DSS 25/35) for wood and/or minerals together with this tool.
- The workplace must be well-ventilated.
- The use of a dust mask of filter class P2 is recommended.
Warranty
According to our general terms of delivery for business dealings, suppliers
have to provide companies a warranty period of 12 months for redhibitory
defects (to be documented by invoice or delivery note). Damages due to natural
wear, overstressing, or improper handling are excluded from this warranty.
Damages due to material defects or production faults shall be eliminated free
of charge by either repair or
replacement. Complaints will be accepted only if the tool is returned in
condition to the manufacturer or an authorized Eibenstock service center.
