FYNE AUDIO F700 Series Bookshelf Speaker

Product Information

The F700 Series by Fyne Audio is a range of loudspeakers designed by experienced engineers and manufactured to high standards in Scotland. These speakers are built to provide excellent sound quality and are designed to give you many years of listening pleasure.

Product Usage Instructions

Safety

Ensure the stand or surface you use to place the loudspeaker is stable and capable of supporting its weight. If using the loudspeaker without a stand, attach the provided self-adhesive feet to protect the surface.

Stand Mounting

If using a stand, thread the 4 carpet spikes and adjust thumb wheels to the inserts in the plinths of each loudspeaker. Adjust the spikes from above using the HEX key provided to ensure stability and level placement. For wooden or delicate floors, use the provided cups to prevent damage.

Positioning

Position the loudspeakers approximately 1.5 – 4.5m (5 – 15 feet) apart. Ideally, they should be no closer than 0.5m (20 inches) from the rear wall and no closer than 1m (3 feet) from the side walls. Experiment with toe-in towards the listener for optimal stereo imaging.

Connecting Speaker Cables

Consult your dealer for advice on the most suitable choice of cables for your budget and system. Bare wire connections can be made by unscrewing the terminal and using the hole in the threaded post. Alternatively, use dedicated 4mm plugs or terminated cable sets. Ensure positive-to-positive and negative- to-negative connections between the speaker and amplifier.

All models have two sets of terminals, one for the high-frequency (HF) and one for the low-frequency (LF). When using a single cable wire, connect the provided link wires. For bi-wire operation, omit the link wires and use two sets of cables or a dedicated bi-wire cable for the best sound quality.

Earth Connection

The loudspeaker has an earth or ground connection connected to the drive unit chassis. This connection helps ground any radio frequency interference that may reach the amplifier, enhancing fine detail and resolution. For best results, use a dedicated screened loudspeaker cable.

Grilles

The loudspeakers come with magnetically attached grilles, which are designed for maximum transparency. However, for the best possible sound quality, it is recommended to remove the grilles.

INTRODUCTION

Thank you for choosing Fyne Audio loudspeakers, proudly designed by our experienced engineers and manufactured to exacting standards by our craftsmen in Scotland. We believe they will give you many years of listening pleasure.

SAFETY

For safety reasons, and to ensure you achieve the best performance possible, please fully read this document before installing these loudspeakers. To prevent injury or damage when unpacking the loudspeakers, please do not use the protective bag to lift them in case it tears. If possible retain packaging for future use. The spikes are very sharp – take care to avoid personal injury. These speakers must always be connected to a suitable amplifier and never to a mains supply. Ensure your amplifier is switched off before making connections, to avoid damage.

STAND MOUNTING

For optimum performance, we strongly recommend the use of Fyne Audio’s dedicated FS8 loudspeaker stand with the F700 & F701. Instructions on how to affix the loudspeaker to the stand are included with the stand, and should be followed carefully, both for reasons of safety and to ensure you achieve the best sound possible. If you decide however to make use of a third-party stand design, it should be rigid and well-damped. The centre of the drive unit should be approximately at ear height when seated.

To prevent both personal injury and damage to the loudspeaker, ensure the stand is stable and capable of supporting the weight of the loudspeaker.

NOTE: Should you choose to use your loudspeaker without a stand, protect the surface by attaching the 4 self adhesive feet provided.

SPIKE FITTING

Thread the 4 carpet spikes and adjust thumb wheels to the inserts in the plinths of each loudspeaker. They can be adjusted from above once the loudspeaker is in place using the HEX key provided, to ensure it is stable and level (Fig. 1).

On wooden or other delicate floors, use the cups provided to prevent damage to the surface.

POSITIONING

The loudspeakers should be positioned approximately 1.5 – 4.5m apart (5 – 15 feet), ideally no closer than 0.5m (20 inches) from the rear wall, and no closer than 1m (3 feet) from the side walls (Fig.2).FYNE-AUDIO-F700-Series-

Some degree of experimentation will provide the best results, especially with toe in towards the listener, to give the best stereo imaging.

CONNECTING SPEAKER CABLES

Your dealer will be able to advise on the most suitable choice of cables for your budget and system, to obtain the best performance.
Bare wire connections may be made by unscrewing the terminal and making use of the hole in the threaded post. Alternatively, dedicated 4mm plugs may be purchased, or are already fitted to terminated cable sets.

Ensure connections are made positive to positive and negative to negative between the speaker and the amplifier. All models are provided with two sets of terminals one for the HF and one for the LF. When using a single cable wire as shown, connect the link wires provided (Fig. 3).FYNE-AUDIO-F700-Series-
Bookshelf-Speaker-figt-3 For bi-wire operation omit the link wires, and wire with two sets of cable or a dedicated bi-wire cable (Fig. 4). FYNE-AUDIO-F700-Series-Bookshelf-Speaker-

EARTH CONNECTION

The loudspeaker is provided with an earth or ground connection, connected to the drive unit chassis. The purpose of this is to ground any radio frequency interference that may get back to the amplifier, reducing fine detail and resolution. A separate earth wire may be used for this purpose, but best results will be obtained by using a dedicated screened loudspeaker cable.

GRILLES

Although the magnetically attached grilles are designed for maximum transparency, we always recommend removal for the best possible sound quality.

CABINET CARE

The cabinet may be cleaned with a microfiber cloth. Avoid exposure to extremes of heat, humidity and direct sunlight for extended periods of time.
On no account use solvents or abrasive materials, as this will cause damage and invalidate the warranty.
