13. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS & TROUBLESHOOTING

Are dehumidifiers costly?

For about the first month of use, the dehumidifier operates intensively. This will gradually decrease within time, since the dehumidifier will have been calibrated in its working environment. Condensed households may sometime be significantly expensive to heat. The use of a dehumidifier may lower energy costs.

Where should the dehumidifier be placed ideally?

For optimal results, it is suggested that the dehumidifier is placed in a central area. Doors within the household should be open in order for the dehumidifier to enhance its operation.

Can the filter be replaced by another HEPA type filter?

The dehumidifier’s filter cannot be replaced by any other type of filter since it is specifically designed to operate with this unit.

Which is the appropriate room humidity level?

Maintaining a proper home humidity level is essential for your well-being and that of your household. Extreme fluctuations cause adverse effects on both; low humidity may cause respiratory problems and damage on wooden doors, windows, and furniture, and make you vulnerable to electric shocks due to increased static electricity. On the other hand, high humidity may promote mold growth, serving as breeding grounds for various bacteria and resulting in poor health and also a damaged home. The ideal humidity levels fluctuate between 45% to 55%.

EN

23

Why does condensation persist on windows even with dehumidifier’s use?

When the desired humidity level is reached, there is a possibility of partial humidity formation on windows. This occurs due to the temperature variation between the window and the external weather conditions.
· Operating the dehumidifier should significantly reduce condensation formation on windows.

Why am I not able to set the desired humidity level by using the control panel?

In order to manually adjust the desired humidity level, ensure that the unit operates as a Dehumidifier & Air Purifier and the indications + are activated. The humidity can be adjusted only under Manual and Night Mode

How much time is needed to dry my clothes?

The exact time needed to dry clothes depend on many factors, the room’s temperature, the humidity level, the moisture of the clothes etc., so there is no standard time since of these variable factors mentioned above.

Poor performance of dehumidifying

· Did not operating enough time to remove the moisture. · Make sure there are obstacles blocking air inlet/air outlet. · The ambient humidity may be lower than the humidity setting. · Check that all doors, windows and other openings are securely closed. · Room temperature is too low, below 5ºC(41ºF).

The dehumidifier is not a chilling device. What could be the cause of cold air being extracted?

The dehumidifier operates by intaking condensed air removing any moisture and sending it back in the area it operates. If you are standing near the dehumidifier while operating you may feel that the air coming out of the fan is cooler due to the diffusion. In reality, it is at the same roomtemperature but with less humidity.

Can the dehumidifier help with heating our space?

The dehumidifier can help improve the efficiency of heating in our space, rather than generating heat itself. Essentially, by using the dehumidifier, moisture is removed, and the air in the space becomes drier, resulting in more immediate and effective heat distribution.

14. INSTRUCTION FOR REPAIRING APPLIANCES CONTAINING REFRIGERANT R290

1. Checks to the area
Prior to beginning work on systems containing flammable refrigerants, safety checks are necessary to ensure that the risk of ignition is minimized. For repair to the refrigerating system, the following precautions shall be complied with prior to conducting work in the system. Work procedure Work shall be undertaken under a controlled procedure so as to minimize the risk of a flammable gas or vapor being present while the work is being performed.
2. General work area
All maintenance staff and others working in the local area shall be instructed on the nature of work being carried out. Work in confined spaces shall be avoided. The area around the workspace shall be sectioned off. Ensure that the conditions within the area have been made safe by control of flammable material.
3. Checking for presence of refrigerant
The area shall be checked with an appropriate refrigerant detector prior to and during work, to ensure the technician is aware of potentially flammable atmospheres. Ensure that the leak detection equipment being used is suitable for use with flammable refrigerants, i.e. nonspeaking, adequately sealed or intrinsically safe.
4. Presence of fire extinguisher
If any work is to be conducted on the refrigeration equipment or amy associated parts, appropriate fire extinguishing equipment shall be available to hand. Have a dry powder or CO2 fire extinguisher adjacent to the charging area.
5. No ignition sources
No person carrying out work in relation to a refrigeration system which involves exposing any pipe work that contains or has contained flammable refrigerant shall use any sources of ignition in such a manner that it may lead to the risk of fire or explosion. All possible ignition sources, including cigarette smoking, should be kept sufficiently far away from the site of installation, repairing, removing and disposal, during which flammable refrigerant can possibly be released to the surrounding space. Prior to work taking place, the area around the equipment is to be surveyed to make sure that there are no flammable hazards or ignition risks.”No Smoking” signs shall be displayed.

26

EN

6. Ventilated area
Ensure that the area is in the open or that it is adequately ventilated before breaking into the system or conducting any hot work. A degree of ventilation shall continue during the period that the work is carried out. The ventilation should safely disperse any released refrigerant and preferably expel it externally into the atmosphere.
7. Checks to the refrigeration equipment
Where electrical components are being changed, they shall be fit for the purpose and to the correct specification. At all times the manufacturer’s maintenance and service guidelines shall be followed. If in doubt consult the manufacturer’s technical department for assistance. The following check shall be applied to installations using flammable refrigerants: –the charge size is in accordance with the room size within which the refrigerant containing parts are installed; –the ventilation machinery and outlets are operating adequately and are not obstructed;
8. Checks to electrical devices
Repair and maintenance to electrical components shall include initial safety checks and component inspection procedures. If a fault exists that could compromise safety, then no electrical supply shall be connected to the circuit until it is satisfactorily dealt with. If the fault cannot be corrected immediately but it is necessary to continue operation, an adequate temporary solution shall be used . This shall be reported to the owner of the equipment so all parties are advised. Initial safety checks shall include: –that capacitors are discharged; this shall be done in a safe manner to avoid possibility of sparking; –that there no live electrical components and wring are exposed while charging, recovering or purging the system; –that there is continuity of earth bonding.
9. Repairs to sealed components
During repairs to sealed components, all electrical supplies shall be disconnected from the equipment being worked upon prior to any removal of sealed covers, etc. If it is absolutely necessary to have an electrical supply to equipment during servicing, then a permanently operating form of leak detection shall be located at the most critical point to warn of a potentially hazardous situation. Particular attention shall be paid to the following to ensure that by working in electrical components, the casing is not altered in such a way that level of protection is affected. This shall include damage to cables, excessive numble of connection, terminals not made to original specification, damage to seals, incorrect fitting of glands, etc. Ensure that seals or sealing materials have not degraded such that they no longer serve the purpose of preventing the ingress of flammable atmospheres. Replacement parts shall be in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications, NOTE The use of silicon sealant may inhibit the effectiveness of some types of leak detection equipment. Intrinsically safe components do not have to be isolated prior to working on them.
10. Repair to intrinsically safe components
Do not apply any permanent inductive or capacitance loads to the circuit without ensuring that this will not exceed the permissible voltage and current permitted for the equipment in use.

EN

27

11. Cabling
Check that cabling will not be subject to wear, corrosion, excessive pressure, vibration, sharp edges or any other adverse environmental effects. The check shall also take into account the effects of aging or continual leaks. A halide torch (or any other detector using a naked flame) shall not be used
12. Detection of flammable refrigerants
Under no circumstances shall potential sources of ignition be used in the searching for or detection of refrigerant leaks. A halide torch (or any other detector using a naked flame) shall not be used.
13. Leak detection methods
The following leak detection methods are deemed acceptable for systems containing flammable refrigerants. Electronic leak detectors shall be used to detect flammable refrigerants, but the sensitivity may not be adequate, or may need re-calibrated.(Detection equipment shall be calibrated in a refrigerant- free area.) Ensure that the detector is not a potential source of ignition and is suitable for the refrigerant used. Leak detection equipment shall be set at a percentage of the LFL of the refrigerant and shall be calibrated to the refrigerant employed and the appropriate percentage of gas(25% maximum )is confirmed . Leak detection fluids are suitable for use with most refrigerants but the use of detergents containing chlorine shall be avoided as the chlorine shall be avoided as the chlorine may react with the refrigerant and corrode the copper pipe work. If a leak is suspected, all naked flames shall be removed/extinguished. If a leakage of refrigerant is found which requires brazing, all of the refrigerant shall be recovered from the system, or isolated (by means of shut off valves) in a part of the system both before and during the brazing process.
14. Removal and evacuation
When breaking into the refrigerant circuit to make repairs- or for any other purpose conventional procedures shall be used. However, it is important that best practice is followed since flammability is a consideration. The following procedure shall be adhered to: remove refrigerant; purge the circuit with inert gas; evacuate; purge again with inert gas; open the circuit by cutting or brazing; The refrigerant charge shall be recovered into the correct recovery cylinders. The system shall be “flushed’ with OFN to render the unit safe. This process may need to be repeated several times. Compressed air or oxygen shall not be used for this task. Flushing shall be achieved by breaking the vacuum in the system with OFN and continuing to fill until the working pressure is achieved, then venting to atmosphere, and finally pulling down to a vacuum. This processing shall be repeated until no refrigerant is within the system. When the final OFN charge is used, the system shall be vented down to atmospheric pressure to enable work to take place. This operation is absolutely vital if brazing operations on the pipe-work are to take place. Ensure that the outlet for the vacuum pump is not close to any ignition sources and there is ventilation available.
15. Charging procedures
In addition to conventional charging procedures, the following requirements shall be followed. -Ensure that contamination of different refrigerants does not occur when using charging equipment. Hoses or lines shall be as short as possible to minimize the amount of

28

EN

refrigerant contained in them. -Cylinders shall be kept upright. -Ensure that the refrigeration system is earthed prior to charging the system with refrigerant. -label the system when charging is complete (if not already) -Extreme care shall be taken not to overfill the refrigeration system. Prior to recharging the system is shall be pressure tested with OFN. The system shall be leak tested on completion of charging but prior to commissioning. A follow up leak test shall be carried out prior to leaving the site.
16. Decommissioning
Before carrying out this procedure, it is essential that the technician is completely familiar with the equipment and all its detail. It is recommended good practice that all refrigerants are recovered safely. Prior to the task being carried out, an oil and refrigerant sample shall be taken is case analysis is required prior to re-use of reclaimed refrigerant. It is essential that electrical power is available before the task is commenced. a) become familiar with the equipment and its operation. b) Isolate system electrically. c) Before attempting the procedure ensure that; Mechanical handling equipment is available and being used correctly; the recovery process is supervised at all times by a competent person; recovery equipment and cylinders conform to the appropriate standards. d) Pump down refrigerant system, if possible. e) If a vacuum is not possible , make a manifold so that refrigerant can be removed from various parts of the system. f) Make sure that cylinder is situated on the scales before recovery takes place. g) Start the recovery machine and operate in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. h) Do not overfill cylinders. (No more than 80% volume liquid charge). i) Do not exceed the maximum working pressure of the cylinder, even temporarily. j) When the cylinders have been filled correctly and the process completed, make sure that the cylinders and the equipment are removed from site promptly and all isolation valves on the equipment are closed off. k) Recovered refrigerant shall not be charged into another refrigeration system unless it has been cleaned and checked.
17. Labeling
Equipment shall be labeled stating that it has been de-commissioned and emptied of refrigerant. The label shall be dated and signed. Ensure that there are labels on the equipment stating the equipment contains flammable refrigerant.
18. Recovery
When removing refrigerant from a system, either for servicing or decommissioning, it is recommended good practice that all refrigerant into cylinders, ensure that only appropriate refrigerant recovery cylinders are employed. Ensure that the correct number of cylinders for holding the total system charge are available. All cylinders to be used are designated for the recovered refrigerant and labeled for that refrigerant(i.e special cylinders for the recovery of refrigerant). Cylinders shall be complete with pressure relief valve and associated shut-off valves in good working order. Empty recovery cylinders are evacuated and , if possible, cooled before recovery occurs. The recovery equipment shall be in good working order with a set with a set of instructions concerning the equipment that is at hand and shall be suitable for the recovery of flammable refrigerants.

EN

29

In addition, a set of calibrated weighing scales shall be available and in good working order. Hoses shall be complete with leak-free disconnect couplings and good condition. Before using the recovery machine, check that it is in satisfactory working order, has been properly maintained and that any associated electrical components are sealed to prevent ignition in the event of a refrigerant release. Consult manufacturer of in doubt. The recovered refrigerant shall be returned to the refrigerant supplier in the correct recovery cylinder, and the relevant Waste Transfer Note arranged. Do not mix refrigerants in recovery units and especially not in cylinders. If compressors or compressor oils are to be removed, ensure that they have been evacuated to an acceptable level to make certain that flammable refrigerant does not remain within the lubricant. The evacuation process shall be carried out prior to returning the compressor to the suppliers. Only electric heating to the compressor body shall be employed to accelerate this process. When oil drained form a system, it shall be carried out safely.
19. Transport of equipment containing flammable refrigerants
Determined by local regulations.
20. Discarded appliances supplies flammable refrigerants
See National Regulations.
21. Storage of equipment/appliances
The storage of equipment should be in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
22. Storage of packed (unsold) equipment

13. INTREBARI FRECVENTE SI DEPANARE

14. INSTRUCTIUNI PENTRU REPARATIA APARATELOR CE CONTIN AGENT FRIGORIFIC R290

1. Verificari in zona
Lucrul in spatii inchise trebuie evitat.
Ventilatia trebuie sa disperseze in siguranta orice agent frigorific eliberat si, de preferinta, sa-l elimine in atmosfera.
7. Verificari la echipamentul frigorific
In cazul in care componentele electrice sunt schimbate, acestea trebuie sa fie adecvate si conform specificatiilor.

88

RO

· dimensiunea incarcarii este in conformitate cu dimensiunea camerei in care sunt instalate piesele care contin agent frigorific; · masinile si prizele de ventilatie functioneaza corespunzator si nu sunt obstructionate;

-Cilindrii trebuie pastrati in pozitie verticala.

Consultati producatorul in caz de dubii. Atunci cand uleiul drenat formeaza un sistem, acesta trebuie realizat in siguranta.
