IMPORTANT WARNING!
Read the safety features and the user manual carefully before installing and
connecting the device to power.
SAFETY FEATURES
The following safety features must be observed during device’s use, operation and maintenance. This device can be operated by children from the age of 8 and by persons with reduced physical, sensorial or mental abilities or the lack of experience and knowledge only if they are under the supervision or have been informed about a safe use of the device and have understood the possible hazards. Children mustn’t play with the device. Children mustn’t clean or maintain it without supervision. Operating personnel must be informed about the nature and impact of the ultraviolet radiation UV-C on the human organism. Failure to comply with the safety features in this manual may cause physical injury or serious damage of the device, its parts or accessories.
The device contains UV-C discharge lamps.
UV-C radiation is dangerous for eyes and skin. Do not use UV-C discharge lamps outside of the device.
Do not use the device in explosive environment
Do not power up the device in the environment with flammable gases and smokes. Do not use any electronic devices in such environment due to the possible danger of explosion.
Water, humidity and heat
Do not use the device near water or in a high-humidity atmosphere, where condensation of water may occur inside the device. Do not expose the device to rain. It can cause an electric shock or a fire! Never install the device near a source of heat or hot air. During installation ensure that there is an access of air to the device and the ventilation openi gs are not covered.
Powering up the device
To power up the device, use the original power cable. Wait for at least 10 minutes after unpacking until the device’s temperature adjusts to the temperature of the environment. The purifier is protected with safety class I. with IP20 protection against the dangerous contact with electronic current.
KEY FEATURES
- Destroys microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, yeasts and viruses, including the CORONAVIRUS!
- Closed-type device suitable for public places with frequent movement of persons.
- Incredibly low noise due to its special fans.
- Safety pin that automatically turns off the device when the cover is opened.
- LED status and UV discharge lamp lifetime indication.
- Multi-functional mounting: wall-mount or desktop use.
- The device is designed to disinfect the air during the presence of human beings. UV-C radiation purifies the air in a special tunnel inside the device. Shielding at the device’s input and output prevents from UV radiation leakage. The device does not cause any harm to the present persons.
- The device is designed and made in Slovakia
Air disinfection – use
The Air Purifier is designed for disinfection of interiors such as hospitals,
doctors’ and vets’ practices, cleaning rooms, offices with or without AC
units, food processing factories, storage rooms and public places with
frequent movement of persons. The disinfection is achieved by forced air
circulation through the chamber with UV discharge lamps. The device is
designed the way that the radiation does not get out of the discharge lamp
chamber. So-called germicidal radiation, that is ultraviolet radiation of the
UV-C spectrum with a wavelength below 320 nm, is used for disinfection. Air
disinfection is accomplished by performing this spectrum on microorganisms
that are present in the air. It is used everywhere, where the disinfection of
the environment using ordinary methods is not possible.
Air purifier installation
During the purifier installation, consider natural air circulation in the room
and place it the way that there are no barriers around, which would block
getting sufficient amount of air circulation. The purifier can be installed on
the wall with two screws introduced through holes on the rear side. Second
option is an installation on the stand with four supplied screws. In this
case, you can easily place the purifier on any flat surface. For the stand
installation, a PH1 screwdriver is needed.
Microprocessor control unit description
Air purifier is equipped with a microprocessor control unit, which manages
correct operation of the whole device, air circulation and calculates runtime
of the discharge lamps. On the side, there are OK and SERVICE LED indicators,
RESET button and the main switch. After turning on the main switch, fans will
start running and the green OK LED indicator will light up. This means that
the device is working correctly. Red SERVICE LED indicator will start flashing
500 hours before the discharge lamp lifetime ends. After the lifetime ends,
the red LED will be on permanently.
Maintenance
Air purifier requires regular maintenance. Remove the dust or other dirt using a nonaggressive cleaning aid. For correct functioning of the emitter it is necessary to keep the UV discharge lamp clean and monitor its lifetime. In case of a visible contamination located at the vents, it is necessary to clean the device thoroughly. If the switching of Air purifier by a programmable timer with an operating hours counter is not ensured, it is necessary to ensure the recording of operation so that it is possible to determine the status of the UV-C source at any time. In case of any doubts, it is necessary to verify its effectiveness by measuring the intensity of UV radiation. For more information about the device maintenance, please visit our website www.srsmedilux.com.
Replacing the UV discharge lamp
You need to replace the UV discharge lamps after their lifetime has ended.
Even though they seem to light with the same colour, the intensity of the
ultraviolet UV-C element is significantly lower.
Only a qualified person may open the device after disconnecting it from the
power source. Unscrew the top cover and remove it.
WARNING: There is a danger of burning since the UV discharge lamps may be
hot!
Allow them sufficient time to cool down.
Eject the discharge lamp from its base and remove it from the holder. Install
new discharge lamps in the reverse order mentioned before. We recommend
original OSRAM lamps of type HNS – see specification in the technical
specifications section. When closing the device, ensure that the cover fits
the device’s body and there is no gap that could cause UV radiation leakage.
The counter must be reset after the replacement. Turn on the main switch and
hold the reset button pressed for at least 5 seconds using a thin object. The
GREEN SERVICE LED will turn on. Malfunctioning or broken tubes must be
disposed as electronic waste.
Prevention from harmful effects of the UV-C radiation
UV-C radiation has harmful effect on a human organism depending on the intensity and the time of exposure. When it comes to the contact with eye, radiation can cause conjunctivitis. UV-C radiation is aggressive and harmful for humans, animals and plants.
PURITEC® HNS® discharge lamp description
OSRAM PURITEC® HNS® are low-pressure discharge lamps, which emit short-wave
ultraviolet radiation. They are very environmentally friendly and they are a
great alternative to chemical cleaners. Their radiation effectively destroys
cells and is perfect for high effective cleaning of water, air and surfaces
while eliminating the necessity to use chemical cleaners.
Operational principle of an UV-C discharge lamp:
UV-C radiation has photolytic effect on the DNA of microorganisms like bacteria, moulds, yeasts and viruses causing them to be incapable to replicate.
Cleaning effect is achieved by light at a wavelength under 320 nm, with
optimal effect at 260 nm. HNS germicidal discharge lamps emit UV light at a
wavelength of 254 nm and are ozone free.
HNS® discharge lamps do not generate ozone:
Main lines of the mercury discharge spectrum appear at 254 nm and 185 nm. Ultraviolet light at a lower wavelength below 240 nm creates ozone. Discharge lamp housing is made of fused quartz, which eliminates radiation below 240 nm. The discharge lamp emits radiation, which destroys microorganisms, but does not leak radiation that generates ozone.
Functions
General elimination of bacteria
Deactivation of escherichia coli
Relative effect
Spectral power distribution of ozone-free lamps
Relative spectral radiant power
Decrease In UVC radiation for the HNS L 24 W 2G11
UVC radiant power in %
Switching cycle 165 minutes on, 15 minutes off. burning time in hours
The lamps have a maximum life of 18,000 hours. To maximize the effectiveness of killing viruses and bacteria, we recommend replacing the lamps after 9,000 hours. The device signals the need to replace the lamp.
