2) Welcome and lock screen

After turning on the LAMAX WatchY2, you will see a welcome screen with the current time, date and day of the week.

The signal strength is always displayed on the left side of the top bar as can be the mute, data reception, Wi-Fi location, GPS location, received messages, and do not disturb mode icons. There is a battery status indicator on the right side of the top bar.

When the device wakes up, the analogue clock screen is displayed, with the current day in abbreviations (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun) and the current date. This screen serves as a screensaver/lock screen. When you tap the screen, the digital clock appears, and you can drag to the right of the screen to go to the menu for more functions.

3) Messages

The ,,Messages” feature allows you to send voice messages from your device to a paired account in LAMAX Tracking, as well as view received text messages and play voice messages.

To send a message, tap the messages and hold down the ,,Press” button on the device display for at least 2 seconds.

When the button is released or the maximum message length of 15 seconds has elapsed, the message is sent.

On the display in the ,,Messages” section, the child sees in the pink bubble the last text message sent from the LAMAX Tracking application and in the blue bubble they can listen to the last voice message, the length of which (in seconds) they can see on the left side of the bubble. To play or view the message, double-click the bubble icon and the content will be played or displayed to the child.

4) Call

The ,,Call” function allows you to dial and call any numbers. By default, the dial feature is turned off. To enable the dial feature, it is necessary to set it in the LAMAX Tracking application (Menu →Current device settings →Dialpad) to ,,ON”.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
The device only displays the last text and voice message. So don`t send more than one message in a row. To ensure that your child receives messages completely, send a maximum of one text and voice message at a time. Any other message will overwrite the original one. Wait for the child to answer you or call straight away.

5) Contacts

The ,,Contacts” section shows the names and phone numbers of saved contacts. These records are managed in the LAMAX Tracking mobile application (Menu →Current device settings→Contact list).

The primary goal of the device is to protect your child. The security of the LAMAX WatchY2 against unknown numbers means that no telephone number that is not stored in the contacts of the LAMAX WatchY2 device can be dialled. This feature is turned on only when the administrator number is set.

In the LAMAX Tracking application, set all telephone numbers that the LAMAX WatchY2 user should call or that the LAMAX WatchY2 user might need (Menu →Current device settings→Contact list).

Set the ,,Administrator phone number” if you want to block incoming calls from numbers that are not in the contact list (Menu →Current device settings→Administrator phone number) If you do not set an ,,Administrator Phone Number”, you can call the device from any phone number.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
As part of the initial setup of the application, do not forget to enter your and other necessary phone numbers in the LAMAX Tracking app (Menu→Current device settings→Contact list) , otherwise you will not be able to call the LAMAX WatchY2 and the user will not be able to dial important phone numbers quickly.

We recommend adding contacts to both parents, grandfather, grandmother and, for example, rescue services.

Also do not forget to fill in the SOS contacts for the correct functionality of the SOS function, see 5.1. (Menu →Current device settings→Default SOS contacts)

6) Friends

The ,,Friends” function allows you to pair two LAMAX WatchY2 devices that are next to each other*. To pair, hold your finger on the ,,Friends” icon for at least 3 seconds, the devices will exchange contact information and send each other voice messages. Only the last received voice message is always displayed. This function allows you to pair only 2 LAMAX WatchY2 devices with each other.

*Both LAMAX WatchY2 devices must have a GPS signal.

7) Steps

The ,,Steps” section includes a pedometer function*, to motivate your child to move and monitor his activity in the form of steps taken and calories burned per day**.

To use the ,,Steps” function, you need to turn it on and set the ,,Interval” in the LAMAX Tracking application (Menu →Pedometer → Pedometer settings).

  • Turning on the pedometer greatly increases battery consumption.
** The measurement of the built-in pedometer cannot be compared with professional meters, so use this data as a guide only.
8) APP&ID

Under APP & ID you will find a unique 10-digit numeric code (device ID) of your device and a QR code to download the LAMAX Tracking mobile application. The unique numeric code (device ID) is used to register the device under the User Account you have created see point 3.

5. Further Features of the LAMAX WatchY2
1) SOS button

The physical ,,SOS button” (see section LAMAX WatchY2 Controls) ) is primarily intended for dialling a stored SOS contact and sending an SOS notification to the LAMAX Tracking application when a threat is felt.

The SOS function is activated by pressing and holding the ,,SOS button” for 5 seconds.

Note: To dial an SOS contact, at least one number must be entered in: (Menu→Current device settings→Default SOS contacts).

2) Monitored areas

In the LAMAX Tracking application it is possible to set ,,Monitored areas” (Menu→Device Geofence). After visiting or leaving the set monitored area, the user of the application will receive a notification about this event. For more information on setting this function, refer to the LAMAX Tracking instructions.

3) Alarm clock

The device has an ,,Alarm clock” function, the settings of which can be found in the LAMAX Tracking mobile application (Menu→Current device settings→Alarm clock).

4) Do not disturb / school mode

By activating the ,,Do not disturb / school mode” in the LAMAX Tracking application (Menu→Current device settings→Do not disturb), the functionality of the device is reduced at set time intervals (e.g.: teaching time/after-school activities) to just the clock display and using the ,,SOS button”. The device cannot be called. When this mode is turned on, the icon appears on the LAMAX WatchY2 screen. This feature can be turned off at any time by deleting time intervals.

5) Finding the device

With the ,,Find device” feature, you can easily locate a device you cannot find. After activating this function in the LAMAX Tracking mobile application (Menu→Current device settings→Find a Watch) , the device will start ringing and will display the text “Here I am “.

6) Remote shutdown

The LAMAX WatchY2 can be shut down remotely via the LAMAX Tracking application (Menu→Remote shutdown).

7) Power saving mode

This mode turns off the automatic refreshing of all location services. However, it is still possible to use manual position reset on the main screen using the icon .
,,Power save” can be found in the LAMAX Tracking app (Menu→Current device settings→Maximum power saving).

6. Positioning

The LAMAX WatchY2 device uses 3 positioning methods:

1) GPS - Primary
GPS refers to the process of determining the position of the device at a specific point in time using Global Positioning System (GPS) data. Location accuracy ranges from 5 metres to 30 metres based on signal strength. This is the most accurate type of positioning. For GPS to function properly, the device must be located outside buildings or other covered areas.

2) Wi-Fi - Secondary
Wi-Fi location is used when the device is located inside a building or other area where a GPS signal is not available, but Wi-Fi networks are. Location accuracy ranges up to 300 metres. This location function works on the principle of reading the surrounding Wi-Fi networks and subsequent positioning using their names.

3) LBS - Tertiary
LBS positioning is used when GPS or Wi-Fi location is not available. The position is determined by the nearest mobile network (GSM) transmitters. LBS- based positioning accuracy is up to 1000 metres.

Note: In LAMAX Tracking, you can turn Wi-Fi and LBS positioning on and off individually (MENU→ Current device settings→About device→Do not use LBS or Do not use Wi-F). However, we recommend that this only be done situationally. In cities, we recommend always leaving at least Wi-Fi positioning on and at least LBS outside cities, due to the lower density of Wi-Fi coverage in the countryside/villages. If you keep both location services on (Wi-Fi and LBS), the device always selects the available location method in the following order (GPS Wi-Fi LBS).

7. Technical Parameters

2) Degree of protection/Water resistance

LAMAX WatchY2 devices are IP67 certified. This means they are protected from the ingress of dust and can withstand normal hand washing, exposure to light rain or increased humidity.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
To prevent liquid from entering the device, make sure that the SIM card cover on the watch is properly attached. The device is not intended for use during water sports, swimming, diving or showering. It must not be exposed to pressurized water or heavy water flow, such as sudden immersion or jumping into water.

3) Battery life

The battery life of the LAMAX WatchY2 depends on many factors. One factor is the set position refresh interval, the others are the location services used, the brightness and the pedometer function.

Device battery life according to the set refresh interval:
– 1 minute = lasts up to 24 hours
– 3 minutes = lasts up to 1.5 days
– 5 minutes = lasts up to 2 days
– 10 minutes = lasts up to 3 days
– 30 minutes = lasts up to 3.5 days
– 60 minutes = lasts up to 4 days
– Standby mode = lasts up to 4 days

When using higher brightness values +3 and +5, the power consumption of the device increases up to 2x depending on its use/how long the display is lit. We recommend basic brightness for optimal battery life.

If the GPS signal is not available, Wi-Fi and LBS location is used, which increases battery consumption.

If the pedometer is used, power consumption may increase up to 2 times due to more frequent waking up of the device.

4) Charging the device

Fully charge the device before using it for the first time. For charging, use only charging adapters with a current of 1A and a voltage of 5V together with the supplied charging cable. Using an adapter or cable other than the recommended one may damage your device and void your warranty.

5) Charging times

The LAMAX WatchY2 charges from 0% battery to 100% battery in about 2 hours using the recommended adapter.

6) Data traffic

The average data consumption of the LAMAX WatchY2 is 50 MB per month (based on 1-minute positioning refresh interval and 10 messages per day).
