Oximeter Adapter
**

Intended use
The oximeter adapter connects a NONIN Xpod™ oximeter to your device. Oximetry data (oxygen saturation and pulse rate) is recorded on the SD card inserted into the device.

The Air10 oximeter adapter shown in illustration A is compatible with AirSense™ 10 / AirCurve™ 10 / Lumis™ devices. The oximeter adapter shown in illustration B is compatible with S9 devices. The oximeter adapter is intended for home and hospital use. Read the entire guide before using the oximeter adapter.

Note: The compatible finger pulse oximeters are calibrated for the display of functional oxygen saturation

Save the packaging
Keep all the packaging the oximeter adapter came in. You will need to return the oximeter adapter, this User Guide and the SD card to your care provider.
Setup
Refer to illustration E or F:

  1. Unplug your device from the power outlet.

  2. Make sure an SD card is inserted into the SD card slot on your device.

  3. Connect the oximeter adapter to your device.

  4. Align the Xpod oximeter connector with the oximeter adapter port and connect them.

  5. Connect the Xpod oximeter to the finger pulse sensor. instructions refer to the User Guide supplied with the finger pulse sensor.

  6. Connect the finger pulse sensor to your finger.

  7. Plug your device back into the power outlet. The AirSense 10 / AirCurve 10 / Lumis device will briefly display the oximeter software code, eg, SX123-4567.
    The S9 device will briefly display Oximeter enabled.

You are now ready to start therapy. For more information, refer to your device User Guide.

Removing and returning the oximeter adapter and
SD card

  1. Remove the sensor from your finger.
  2. Unplug your device from the power outlet.
  3. Press the release button/s on the side of the oximeter adapter and pull gently to remove it from the device.
  4. Pull the Xpod oximeter out of the oximeter port on the oximeter adapter.
  5. Remove the finger sensor cable from the Xpod oximeter.
  6. Open the SD card cover and push in the SD card to release it.
  7. Place the SD card in the protective folder and send it back to your care provider together with the oximeter adapter and this User Guide.

Cleaning and maintenance
If you need to, wipe the outside of the oximeter adapter with a clean, dry cloth. For instructions on how to clean the oximeter and its sensor, refer to the User Guide supplied with those accessories.

Troubleshooting

If you have any problems, refer to the following troubleshooting topics. If you are not able to fix the problem, contact your care provider or refer to www.resmed.com. Do not try to open the oximeter adapter.

The finger pulse sensor is not attached to your finger| Make sure the finger pulse sensor is properly attached according to the instructions supplied with that accessory
The sensor cable is not connected to the Xpod oximeter at the start of therapy| Disconnect and reconnect the Xpod oximeter connector and sensor cable according to the instructions supplied with these accessories.
AirSense 10 / AirCurve 10 / Lumis without oximetry| Check oximeter connection or press OK to continue
S9| Connect the oxi sensor or press dial to accept no oximetry data logging
The oximeter adapter is not connected properly or data is not transmitting correctly| Remove your oximeter adapter from the device according to the instructions. Reattach your oximeter adapter and plug your device back into the power outlet.
S9| Insert your SD Card or press dial to accept no oximetry data logging
The device cannot detect an SD card and no oximetry data can be logged or stored| Make sure that an SD card is correctly inserted in the SD card slot of your device

  • Do not open or modify the oximeter adapter. The oximeter adapter is not designed to be serviced. There are no serviceable parts inside.
  • Only use compatible NONIN™ finger pulse oximeters*.
  • The finger pulse oximeter and cable needs to be verified for compatibility with AirSense 10 / AirCurve 10 / Lumis devices, otherwise, patient injury can result.
  • Finger pulse oximeters must not be used with excessive pressure for prolonged periods as this can cause patient pressure injury.
  • The reported values from the finger pulse oximeter are not appropriate to be used for diagnostic purposes and it shall not be used for vital sign monitoring.

  • In the US, Federal law restricts this device to sale by or on the order of a physician.
  • Only use the oximeter adapter as specified in this guide.
  • S9 oximeter adapters are specifically designed for use with ResMed S9 devices.
  • Air10 oximeter adapters are specifically designed for use with ResMed AirSense 10 / AirCurve 10 / Lumis devices.
  • Do not use liquids to clean any part of the oximeter adapter
  • Factors that may degrade pulse oximeter performance or affect the accuracy of the measurement include the following: excessive ambient light, excessive motion, electromagnetic interference, blood flow restrictors (arterial catheters, blood pressure cuffs, infusing lines, etc.), moisture in the sensor, improperly applied sensor, incorrect sensor type, poor pulse quality, venous pulsations, anaemia or low haemoglobin concentrations, cardiogreen or other intravascular dyes, carboxyhaemoglobin, methaemoglobin, dysfunctional haemoglobin, artificial nails or fingernail polish, or a sensor not at heart level.
    Note: Any serious incident that has occured in relation to this device should be reported to ResMed and the competent authority in your country.
