- Please make sure all parts are present.
- Dispose of packaging materials or store it out of reach of children. Plastic bags etc. may become a deadly toy for children.
Start-Up
- During operation the bench saw must be solidly attached to a firm and even surface. If the machine is just placed on a workbench and not attached, it might move during operation.
- The machine is delivered with three additional supports. The two lateral work piece supports are inserted into the holes on the sides and the rear support is inserted from the rear with the angled portion facing down. Secure the supports with the clamping screws.
- Before connecting the machine to the power mains, please make sure the mains voltage in your area corresponds to the operating voltage stated on the type label. If you are using a cord reel as an extension cord, please roll the cord off the reel completely, because otherwise the coiled cable on the reel may overheat and become damaged.
Converting the Saw
Before converting the saw disconnect it from the power supply!
The convert the saw from a table saw to a crosscut and metre saw loosen the
turnknobs (15a and b) and set the table to the highest position. Lock the
table in place with the turnknobs. Lightly press down the upper part of the
saw by the handle and pull out the retaining pin (17). Allow the upper part of
the saw to swing up and take out the Protective tub (19).
To convert the saw from a crosscut and mitre saw to a table saw set the
cutting angle along both axes exactly to zero. Place the protective tub (19)
on the turn table and hook it into the fence. Without the protective tub (19)
the saw can and may not be used as a table saw! Press the unlocking button (2)
and push down the upper part of the saw and hold it in the lowest position.
Push the retaining pin (17) in to secure the upper part. Loosen the turnknobs
(15) and set the table to the lowest position and secure it by tightening the
turnknobs.
ON/OFF Switch (1)
- To turn the machine ON, push the green button and to turn off the machine, press the red button.
- The ON/OFF switch is a safety switch with a low-voltage circuit breaker. The construction of the switch makes sure that the machine will not accidentally restart after a power failure.
Dust Extraction
- On the back side of the housing is the dust extraction flange. With a suitable adaptor, you can connect the dust bag, a dust extractor or a vacuum cleaner. Do not use the saw without some kind of dust-catching or dust extraction system.
Operation as a Crosscut and Mitre Saw
- Set the machine up as a crosscut and miter saw as described above in the chapter “Converting the Saw”.
- When using the machine a miter saw, set the cutting angle along both axes. To do so, loosen the turnknob (6) and turn the rotatable table until the indicator on the forward degree scale is set to zero. Secure the rotatable table by tightening the turnknob.
- Loosen the turnknob (18) and set the miter angle using the rear scale. Secure the upper part of the saw by tightening the turnknob.
- Secure the workpiece with the clamp (4). Carefully stay away from the spinning saw blade. Make sure the saw blade can not touch any of the fences and adjust the fences if necessary.
- If you intend to cut a curved work piece, make sure the work piece is not bent against the fence. Make sure no gap forms between the work piece, the fence and the base plate.
- Long workpieces must be supported in a suitable way, e.g. on a support equipped with rollers. Avoid holding or guiding workpieces in a way which compromises your balance.
- To cut, operate the ON/OFF switch (1) before pressing down the upper part of the saw. When the machine has reached full speed, press the locking button (2) and press down the upper part of the saw by the handle. Whenever possible, cut through the workpiece with a single, even motion. Irregularly shaped workpieces can cause the upper part to kick back up unexpectedly, therefore hold the handle with a firm grip.
Operation as a Table Saw
- Set the machine up as a table saw as described above in the chapter “Converting the Saw”.
- When using the machine as a table saw, always set the table to the lowest position. The table is equipped with a scale for positioning the parallel fence (12). The parallel fence is fixed in place with the knobs. The upper safety hood lifts automatically when a workpiece is pushed under it.
- Operate the ON/OFF switch (1) and allow the machine to rev up to full speed before you start cutting. Move the workpiece at an even pace with moderate speed over the table. Long workpieces must be supported in a suitable way, e.g. on a support equipped with rollers. Avoid holding or guiding workpieces in a way which compromises your balance.
Using the Push Stick (13)
- When working on narrow or small workpieces, there is a danger of touching the spinning saw blade with your hand. This will inevitably lead to severe injury. For this reason a push stick has been included with the machine. Use it to push small workpieces against the saw blade. While the push stick is not used, it should be stored on the machine. It can be snapped into the two clips on the right side of the table.
Changing the Saw Blade
- Damaged saw blades must be replaced immediately. Before undertaking any work on the machine, pull the power plug and always wear working gloves when handling the saw blade!
- To change the saw blade, set the machine to crosscut and mitre saw and raise the arm to the highest position.
- Loosen the retaining screw (16) of the operating lever of the safety hoods and open the hoods to gain access to the saw blade.
- Please keep in mind that even a worn saw blade is still sharp! Always wear gloves when handling it!
- The saw blade is fixed on the drive shaft with an inner and an outer flange. In front of the outer flange a screw is screwed into the shaft to tension the flanges. Between screw and flange there is a flat washer.
- To loosen the saw blade use the included face spanner and the included hex key. Hold the flange with the face spanner to prevent the saw blade from spinning. Loosen the internal hex screw with the hex key. Please keep in mind that the internal hex screw is equipped with left hand threads! After screw and washer have been removed the flanges and the saw blade can be pulled off the spindle.
- It is advisable to use this opportunity to clean flanges and driveshaft. Make sure the new saw blade corresponds to the technical data given in this manual. Use only carbide tipped saw blades.
- The rotation direction arrow on the new saw blade must point forward, corresponding to the arrow on the blade guard.
- Put the flanges, the saw blade and screw and disc on the shaft and lock nut and disc with the included spanners.
- The saw blade must turn without hitting any part of the machine. Now reinstall the screw of the blade guard operating lever and test the blade guard for function.
