USING INSTRUCTIONS

STEP1

First things first, you need to evaluate the rear cargo area of your 4WD to determine the best location tofix the four mounting points. These points need to be able to withstand the weight of the loadeddrawer system as it goes over bumps off-road. The rear drawers come with multiple holes in the base to suit a range of models. In the GU Patrol we’re fitting the drawers to this time. We ve gone with the factory tie dowr hooks. You can discard the tie down hooks themselves, but keep a hold of the retaining bolts to use in the mounting process later.

STEP2
In order to dial in the correct dimensions to the drawer system you need to knock over a few precise measurements in the rear compartment to ensure a mickey-mouse fit. Draw a rectangle between the four mounting points using the centre of the hole as the corners of the shape. Write down the length and width and keep these numbers handy.

STEP3
With the drawer set removed from the box, place it on its end with the rear face of the drawers pointing upwards. Here you’ll see the two parallel attachment rails which we will dial in according to the measurements previously taken in the back of the truck. Check to make sure the width of your four intended mounting points fall within the dimensions of these rails. Provided they do you’re in business to move on, If they don’t, then look to use a different anchor location. For example, the GU could also have used the third row seat boltholes as an additional option.

STEP4
To access the adjustable mounting rail fxtures you’ll need to remove the two drawers from the main framework structure. Because we haven’t attached the rubber stoppers they will simply slide with little effort Be careful when puling them out, they’re mounted via a double roller bearing slide which gets them moving like a bowling ball down an alley way.

STEP5
With the drawers removed and placed off to theside you can get to work undoing the multiple allenheaded bolts that retain the top carpeted surface in order to access the drawer frame. The integrated fridge slide half remains in place as access can be gained by simply moving the slide out to its full exten sion. Although all fasteners use the same size bit to remove there is slightly different length between the spring-loaded anchor points and the board itself, so be sure not to mix these up.

STEP6
With the bare bones frame system stripped to its required level you can now dial in the correct dimensions to suit your individual vehicle. The unit comes pre-drilled ready to move the channel rails up or down depending on the dimensions gained in the previous steps. Undo the retaining bolts and slide the mount up or down using the slot in the centre of the channel as the reference point for your length measurements.

STEP 7
Before installing the main body of the system it’s essential to be sure there’s nothing under the carpeted floor that would be fouled or damaged once the drawers are installed. Place the removed top on its edge and rock it backwards and forwards to uncover any hidden wiring or components that would otherwise cause an uneven fit. In our case evervthing came up trumps and we were able to proceed without any further action.

STEP8
Lift the framework into the cargo area and align the two mounting rails over the top of the bolt holes ready for installation. Place a drop of thread locking compound on the bolt using the supplied flat washers to help distribute the weight of the fastener across a greater area of the galvanized metal. Ensure the drawers are centered within the rear of the cargo area, checking there is adequate clearance for the rear doors to close and the drawers to open fully. Then you can go ahead and tighten up the bolts for the final time.

STEP9
There are two rubber stoppers used to buffer the inward and outward movement of the drawer itself, which now need to be installed. Using the supplied bolts and nyloc nuts, firstly slide the drawer 2/3s of the way into the unit then fasten the bolts from the open top.

STEP10
The final step is to re-attach the drawer deck then carry out a full inspection of the system to ensure everything operates smoothly. That includes actuating the fridge slide, drawer runners and latches.
