If the battery Choosing sanding belts Choosing the right size and type of sanding belt is an important step in achieving a high quality sanding surface. Aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, and other synthetic abrasives are best for grinding.  Generally, when sanding, coarse grit removesmost of the material, while fine grit provides the best finish. The condition of the sanding surface determines which grit is suitable for the best performance. If the surface is rough, start with a coarse grit and sand until the surface is smooth. Then use the middle grit to remove scratches left by coarser grit. Finally, use finer abrasive for surface finishing. When sanding, always reduce the grit size of the abrasive until the surface of the material being processed is uniform.
