SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Warning: Follow the installation instructions carefully as an incorrect
installation or careless use of the product could lead to serious injuries.
The product must not be operated if work (such as window cleaning) is being
carried out in the vicinity.
Check the awning drive, the charging device and the solar panel for damage before use. Never use a defective or damaged device. Check the awning drive, the charging device and the solar panel for damage before use. Never use a defective or damaged device. In that case, please contact our customer service team. All product repairs must be carried out by authorised and qualified specialists. The use of defective devices could endanger persons and cause material damage (e.g. injuries, electric shocks and fires).
- The product and its packaging are not toys. Keep children away from them. as they could present a risk of injury or suffocation.
- Third parties must stay away from the awning system during the setup process.
- The product and the included accessories must not be opened or modified.
- Before installing the product, check for damage and make sure that all accessories are included.
- The awning system must correspond to the tensile load and construction of the system. The maximum load limits of the product must not be exceeded.
- The product does not require maintenance. The battery (NiMH) integrated in the product requires maintenance (see notes on batteries and the charging process)
- The product is designed for short-term operation with a duty cycle of max. 4 minutes. If the product becomes overheated due to excessive operation or tensile load, the product will switch off. The product will be ready for operation once more following a cool-down period of at least 15 minutes.
- Regularly check that the awning system is running smoothly and make sure it does not ice up in winter. Damaged systems must not be used.
- The product must not be used or assembled by children or persons who are not in a position to use the product safely and with caution due to physical, mental or sensory impairments. Children must not play with the product or the remote control. The product can be used by children aged 8 years and above, as well as by persons with limited physical, sensory or mental capacities, or those lacking in knowledge and experience, if they are supervised or have been instructed on the safe use of the product and understand the hazards involved. Cleaning and user maintenance on the product must not be performed by children without adult supervision.
- Should you have any technical questions regarding the awning system, please contact our customer service team
Notes on batteries and the charging process
- Fully charge the product before commissioning.
- Only charge the product using the charging device included in the product delivery.
- The drive unit must be taken down from the wall to charge the product.
- The product must not be operated during the charging process.
- The charging device must only be used in closed, dry areas (IP 20).
- Never charge the battery in areas where the ambient temperature is below 4°C or over 40°C. The charging process stops automatically if the ambient temperature is too high. As soon as the ambient temperature cools down, the charging process will continue.
- Never open or modify the product, the solar panel, the charging device or the battery as this could lead to injuries.
- Never expose the battery to direct moisture.
- Keep the battery away from paper clips, coins, keys or other metal objects which could cause the plug contacts to be bridged. Never insert any objects into the charging socket. A short-circuit between the battery‘s plug contacts could lead to burns or fire.
- Do throw batteries into fire or water. Risk of explosion.
- Should you find any battery defects, please do not replace these yourself but rather contact our customer service team.
Correct maintenance and winter storage of the device
- Fully charge the battery after the final use of the year (see pages 118 and 119) and then disconnect it from the power supply (F).
- Store the product in a dry room with an ambient temperature of 9–20°C.
- The battery will gradually lose its charge while idle, so it should be recharged approximately every 3 months. This prevents a deep discharge (complete discharge of a battery). This type of deep discharge damages your battery, and in the worst case, could cause the battery to stop functioning altogether.
- In order to protect the battery against a self-discharge, the awning drive will switch to hibernation mode following an inactivity period of 2 weeks. Hibernation mode can also be manually activated (see page 21). Fully charge the awning drive before activating hibernation mode.
Note on the solar panel
- The solar panel serves as an auxiliary charging unit for the battery installed in the product.
- Note: In the event of a low energy yield (e.g. thick clouds over a long period), it may be necessary to charge the battery using the included charging unit.
- With a sufficient energy yield, the solar panel can compensate for one drive cycle per day.
- Install the solar panel in a clear, sunny location to enable the greatest possible energy yield.
- Note : Strong heat development can lead to a reduced energy yield.
- Regularly clean any dirt away from the solar panel using a damp cloth and a suitable cleaning agent.
- Recommendation: Disassemble the solar panel in winter and store it in a dry place after cleaning.
- Damage to the glass surface, frame edge, cables and plugs could make the solar panel unusable.
- You must only plug either the solar panel OR the charger into the product. Simultaneous use, e.g. via an adapter, is not permitted and could cause the product to become unusable.
INTENDED USE
- The product is exclusively intended for use on properly constructed hinged arm awnings with a stepped crank mechanism.
- The awning systems must be in perfect condition.
- The awning systems must be easy to operate with the crank handle.
- Defects in the awning systems must be remedied and damaged parts replaced before using the product.
- Any other use or additional usage of the product is considered to be improper use.
- The operation field of the hand release must be installed at a height below 1.80 m.
- The product should only be operated with the wireless transmitters approved by Schellenberg.
- Alfred Schellenberg GmbH is not liable for personal, material or consequential damage in the case of improper use.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON PROGRAMMING, OPERATION
- When both buttons are pressed simultaneously (when programming and/or deleting the end positions), the LED flashes for 10 seconds. The next action must take place within these 10 seconds.
- A programmed path can be stopped prematurely at any time using the opposite button.
- The end positions must be configured before connecting the approved wireless transmitters.
**** If the end positions have not been set, the drive unit can be moved manually over the end positions of the awning.
