SAFETY WARNINGS

WARNING

Read all safety warnings and all instructions.
Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. save all warnings and instructions for future reference.

WARNING

  1. Work area safety
    a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
    b) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
    c) Create stability for the appliance prior to any work on or with the appliance to prevent accidents or damage.
    d) Injury hazard! Place the appliance in a stable position; when using the appliance in the vicinity of swimmingpools, garden ponds or other outdoor bodies of water, keep it at least 2 m from the water’s edge and protect it from falling into the water or flooding. This does not apply to submersible pumps, since they can be used immersed in water.

  2. Electrical safety
    a) Electrocution hazard! Only connect the appliance to an electrical power source compliant with the relevant standards (IEC 60364-1); during start-up, the appliance may generate interference on the electrical system. Only connect the appliance to a socket fitted with a residual current device rated at 30 mA or less. Use only electrical extension leads compliant with the relevant regulations, approved for outdoor use and with gauge at least equal to that of the appliance’s power cable. Power cables wound onto reels must be completely unwound.
    b) Check the power cord with mains plugfor damage before every use. If the power cord is damaged, please arrange immediately for the exchange by an authorized customer service or a skilled electrician.
    c) All electrical sockets should be fixed in an area that is protected against floods.
    d) Unsuitable electrical extension cables can be hazardous. Only use electrical extension cables outdoors which have been approved and labelled for this purpose and have an adequate cable cross-section.
    e) The mains plug and the coupling of an extension cable must be watertight and must never lie in water. Moreover, the coupling may never lie on the ground. The use of cable reels that ensure that the sockets are at least 60 mm above the ground is recommended.
    f) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
    g) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
    h) The voltage indicated on the type plate must correspond to the voltage of the electrical source.
    i) Do not touch feed fluids, the rope attached to the carrying handle as well as objects that are in contact with the feed fluid (e.g. pipelines extending into the water, railings, etc.).
    j) Electrocution hazard! Do not touch the plug and/or socket with wet hands
    k) Electrocution hazard! Do not point the water jet at the appliance, electrical parts or other electrical devices.
    l) Short-circuit hazard! Do not use the appliance outdoors in the rain. This does not apply to submersible pumps, which may also be used in the rain; however, it is essential to ensure that the connections of the plug and any extension leads used are protected from water splashes and flooding.
    m) In Austria pumps to be used in swimming pools and garden ponds should be equipped with a fixed connection line according to ÖVE B/ EN 60555 Part 1 to 3; power supply should be via a ÖVEtested isolating transformer whereby the secondary nominal voltage should not exceed 230V.
    n) The electrical connection of the system may only be performed by a qualified electrician. Please follow the respective national regulations!

  3. Personal safety
    a) Injury hazard! DO NOT allow the appliance to be used by children or persons with impaired physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or who do not have the necessary experience and knowledge. Children must not use the appliance as a toy. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children.
    b) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
    c) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust mask, nonskid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
    d) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off- position before connecting to power source and picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
    e) Injury hazard! Do not point the water jet at people or animals.

  4. Power tool use and care
    a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
    b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power  tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
    c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
    d) d) store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous  in the hands of untrained users.
    e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
    f) Turn off the appliance and remove the mains plug prior to any care and maintenance works.
    g) If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a special cord or assembly available from the manufacturer or its service agent.
    h) In order to prevent accidents or injuries, mind the weight of the appliance during transport (see technical data).
    i) In order to prevent accidents or injuries, mind the weight of the appliance when choosing the storage location (see technical data).

  5. Service
    a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

  6. Other risks
    a) DANGER: Danger of explosion. Do not pump corrosive, highly combustible or explosive fluids (e.g. petroleum, petrol, acids or nitro thinner).
    b) DANGER: Danger of explosion.Do not operate the device in fire or explosion endangered surroundings.
    c) DANGER: Water that has been delivered with this appliance is no drinking water!
    d) DANGER: This can cause damage to the appliance.
    e) DANGER: Do not pump greases, oils and salt water.

  • Do not use the pump in fish ponds or fountains.
  • Never use the pump if no outlet pipe of min. 20 cm has been fitted.
  • Never let the pump run dry.
  • Never carry the pump by the mains cable or float switch, but only by the handle.
  • Always remove the mains plug from the wall socket before moving or servicing the pump.
  • If the mains cable is damaged, it has to be replaced by the manufacturer, its aftersales service or a similarly qualified person, in order to avoid a danger.
