CrunchIt Butane Canister Recycling Tool
Product Information
The CrunchIt TM Butane Canister Recycling Tool is designed to safely puncture and recycle empty fuel canisters that meet the EN417 Standard (standard, threaded butane/propane fuel canisters). It is compatible with Jetboil Jetpower fuel canisters only and not compatible with 1lb. (450g) propane cylinders or any other propane cylinder.
WARNING: The CrunchIt TM Recycling Tool should not be used near an open flame or other ignition source. Minimum clearance to other combustible materials should be 10 ft (3 m). It is intended for outdoor use only and not intended for use by children.
For recycling, the empty canister should be treated as a tin or steel can and recycled according to local ordinances. Recycling rules may vary, so it is important to check with your local municipal or county waste facility for full compliance with recycling regulations in your region.
Product Usage Instructions
-
Ensure the fuel canister is EMPTY by using it until the flame extinguishes on the Jetboil Cooking System or other acceptable appliance.
-
Carefully thread the CrunchIt tool onto the empty canister. A small amount of residual fuel may vent during threading, which is normal.
-
If venting of fuel during tool threading does not cease within a few seconds, discontinue venting and can recycling. Unthread the CrunchIt tool and re-attempt to use up the fuel completely on the cooking system or appliance. Do not attempt to puncture the canister until it is completely empty.
-
After the venting of fuel has ceased during tool threading, continue threading the CrunchIt tool completely down onto the canister until resistance to threading is felt and rotation stops.
Then, press down on the CrunchIt handle to puncture the canister. Puncture the canister in 3-4 well-spaced locations to ensure it is easily recognized as empty. -
Recycle the canister as you would a tin or steel can according to local ordinances.
