Read the entire operating instructions carefully before using the product. The instructions can be found on our website: www.remoran.eu
General
Remoran PR-01 is a product that protects the Remoran Charger 300W from generator (outboard unit) overvoltage. A potential overvoitage condition occurs when the generator rotation exceeds the design speed (i.e., the boat exceeds the maximum speed of Remoran Wave 3 variant), There is no tisk of overvoltage when using Remoran Wave 3 in the sailing speed range for the device. However, if you often sail close to the maximum speeds, or it is possible that you will exceed it even momentarily, we tecommend that you use Remoran PR-01 to protect the charger from damage. The PR-01 is a fully automatic protection unit that does not contain a battery, accumulator, etc.
Operation
The PR-01 receives the electrical energy needed for operation from the three-
phase generator voltage and is therefore ready for operation as soon as the
generator begins to generate voltage (the boat is moving).
The PR-O1 measures the generator voltage level and, if necessary, disconnects
the connection between the outboard unit and the charger, thus protecting the
charger from overvoltage. The cut-off voltage is roughly 40 VAC (line-to-
line), above which the PR- 01 activates and cuts off the supply from the
generator to the charger. The charger experiences the same situation as if the
boat stopped and the generator stopped rotating.
When the speed of the boat decreases and the generator voltage drops, the
PR-01 testores the electrical connection between the generator and the charger
and the charging function resumes. The difference between the cut-off and
retum voltage is about 5 VAC (hysteresis). This ensures that disconnection and
recovery events do not occur incorrectly in succession (oscillation).
Insatallation
Before starting the installation, make sure that the generator cannot generate
voltage, by either stopping the boat or disconnecting the pass-through
connector.
The PR-01 is installed in a dry place, ideally near the Remoran Charger 300W.
The generator (AC) cable is connected to PR-01 and PR-01 is connected to the
charger.
The PR-01 includes lugs for easy mounting, and screw terminals for connecting
the generator (AC) cable, and for connecting the fixed 50 cm long (AC) cable
to the charger.
Connection
-
PR-01** Connect the Remoran Wave 3 generator cable to the screw terminal on the PR-01. Make sure to put the numbered wires into the correct screw terminals.
** Note! If the PR-01 is in protection mode for a long time (generator voltage> 40VAC), it will generate some heat. In this mode, however, warming is normal. In standby mode, no significant heat is generated. If you use the outboard unit ground wire (yellow-green), you do not need to recycle the ground wire through the PR-01. -
Remoran Charger 300W Connect the fixed cable of the PR-01 to the generator connection of the Remoran Charger 300W. The numbered wires should be connected to the corresponding numbered screw terminals of the charger.
