Rinnai RSC160iN Super High Efficiency Plus Residential Natural Gas
Tankless Water Heater
Product Information
The product is a tankless water heater with Smart-CircTM technology, designed
to provide major time and energy savings. It offers easy installation, high
performance, and serviceability. The product has vertically integrated
components paired with advanced
recirculation technology, delivering superior performance. It features
stainless steel heat exchangers and a multi-speed DC pump for more flexible
operation. The product also includes a low flow activation logic and a zero
governor gas valve for efficient
operation. The venting options are highly flexible, with both concentric and
twin pipe configurations available.
Product Usage Instructions
To install the tankless water heater, use the provided mounting bracket for easy vent alignment. The product is designed for quick and easy gas conversion if needed.
For Smart-CircTM usage, follow these steps:
- During the first seven days, the system learns the hot water usage patterns based on your regular demand periods.
- After the learning period, hot water will be ready according to your previous usage schedule.
- If there are any changes in usage patterns, such as additional activity or guests, the system will adjust accordingly for the next seven days before returning to normal.
- Note that hot water usage must be greater than 20 seconds to be added to Smart-Circ’s memory to avoid unwanted recirculation.
For venting installation, follow these guidelines:

For concentric venting, use a diameter of 2 x 4 or 3 x 5. The equivalent length should not exceed 65′ (20 m) or 150′ (46 m) depending on the diameter. Termination can be either vertical or horizontal.

For twin pipe and room air venting, use a diameter of 2 or 3.

Intelligent Recirculation
With Smart-Circ™, installation just got easier. External controllers are no longer required to set-up recirculation for your customers. Smart-Circ™ “learns” users’ hot water patterns over a seven-day period, then schedules pump and tankless recirculation patterns accordingly. Users enjoy hot water during regular demand periods, while saving energy and money.
You’re all set!
Hot water will be ready for you based on your previous usage schedule. As hot
water events are added throughout the week, scheduled recirculation adjusts
accordingly.
THE ADVANTAGES
What about usage changes?
- Smart-Circ™ does not distinguish between weekday and weekend patterns.
- Additional activity, like when users have guests. This will set a usage pattern that continues for 7 days before returning to normal.
- To achieve scheduled recirculation or on-demand operation, control•r™ Wi-Fi module or MC-195T controllers are required (sold separately). Additional controllers will override Smart-Circ™ Intelligent Recirculation™.
Hot water usage must be greater than 20 seconds to be added to Smart-Circ’s memory. This minimizes unwanted recirculation.
