Repair and maintenance

The Rinnai ES fires are low maintenance and only require the glass to be cleaned, and dust removed from the vents and burn media. In case of repairs, it is recommended that cleaning is done at the same time.

WARNING
Make sure to find out the electrical connection of the appliance before attending a repair job. If the unit is hard-wired, specialist trades may be required to disconnect the unit before the unit can be serviced and repaired. Electrical components should only be replaced by an authorized person (licensed and registered electrician). The appliance should be isolated from the power supply and tested to ensure safe isolation.

The following components can be replaced if there is a fault:

  • Flame spindle
  • Transformer
  • Downlight LED board
  • Fan heater unit
  • Flame LED boards
  • Flame motor
  • Manual control panel
  • PCB

General clean

  • Remove dust from the air vent Dust accumulates over time, impacting the unit’s efficiency. Remove by sweeping dust from the air vent, using a soft brush, into the vacuum.
  • Clean the outer glass Wipe the outer glass with a soft damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners and do not spray liquids directly onto any surface of the unit.

To access the log set pieces and back glass panel for cleaning, the outer glass lower retaining panel and the outer glass will need to be removed, refer next page.Rinnai-ES750-Electric-Fires-FIG-4

Remove the lower glass retaining panel
To be able to remove the glass, the lower retaining panel must be removed first using the magnet tool.

  1. Position the magnet onto the panel and twist.
  2. Using the magnet ring, pull, lift out the metal panel, and place to one side.

Remove outer glass
Place glass suckers on either side of the glass panel, and try and keep the position even so that when the glass comes off the weight is equally distributed. Ensure the suckers are fixed in place before tilting and lifting the glass. Rinnai-ES750-Electric-Fires-FIG-7

Clean back panel
Once the outer glass is removed, clean the back panel with a soft clean cloth.

Clean log set
Clean each piece of the log set using a soft brush.

Dismantling for repair

Replacing some components in the unit will require removing the fuel bed tray, side glass panels, and glass back panel.

Remove the fuel bed tray
Remove the fuel bed tray by removing the screws and lifting the tray from the appliance.Rinnai-ES750-Electric-Fires-FIG-8

Remove side glass panels
The side glass panels can be easily removed by lifting up and out of the retainers.Rinnai-ES750-Electric-Fires-FIG-10

Remove the back glass panel
Using the glass suckers pull the bottom of the glass, tilt, and remove from the unit. It may be necessary to loosen the top glass retaining bar.Rinnai-

Replacing the flame spindle

  • Remove the fuel bed tray
  • Remove side glass panels
  • Remove the glass back panel

Remove the flame silhouette panel. Then unscrew the spindle center support to detach the rubber connector from the motor to remove the spindleRinnai-ES750

Replacing the transformer

  • Remove the fuel bed tray
  • Remove side glass panels
  • Remove the glass back panel

The transformer can be disconnected and unscrewed from the appliance.Rinnai-

Replacing the downlight LED board

  • Remove the fuel bed tray
  • Remove side glass panels
  • Remove the glass back panel

Remove the downlight LED board by removing the two screws on either side. Carefully lower the downlight LED board and unplug the unit. Connect a replacement downlight LED board and secure using the two screws,Rinnai-ES750

Replacing the fan heater unit

  1. Remove the downlight LED board by removing the two screws on either side.
  2. Carefully lower the downlight LED board and unplug the unit.
  3. Remove the screws securing the fan heater panel and lower it. Unplug the fan heater unit and remove it. Offer up the new fan heater and connect it to the appliance.Rinnai-ES750-Electric-Fires-FIG-18

Replacing the flame LED boards

  • Remove the fuel bed tray
  • Remove side glass panels
  • Remove the glass back panel

Remove the silhouette panel. Unscrew the spindle center support and detach the rubber connector from the motor to remove the spindle. (refer to page 10). The LED boards can now be unscrewed and disconnected.Rinnai-ES750-Electric-

Replacing the flame motor

  • Remove the fuel bed tray
  • Remove side glass panels
  • Remove the glass back panel

Replacing the manual control

Remove the screws from the PCB panel and lower to reveal the connections. Remove the screws from the manual control panel, there are two screws above and two screws underneath. Move the manual control panel out of the unit and disconnect it.Rinnai-ES750-Electric-Fires-FIG-22

Replacing the PCB
