Instructions for Use
The Static Ropes are designed for various applications such as rope access, work positioning, rescue, and caving. They are low-stretch kern mantel ropes that meet the requirements of EN 1891 (1998) standard. The ropes are marked with important information including the producer’s name (SINGING ROCK), rope type (A or B), diameter in mm, EN standard and year of issue, batch number/month of production/year of production, conformity marking, and number of notified body, rope length, rope code, and material used. It is important to cut the rope at the distributor or dealer’s and mark the lengths of the rope intended to be used as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) rope with the producer’s marking. The type A ropes (marked as A10,5) are low stretch kern mantel ropes designed for general use in rope access, work positioning, restraint, rescue, and caving. They have better performance compared to type B ropes. The type B ropes (marked as B9,0) are also low-stretch kern mantel ropes but have lower performance than type A ropes. They require greater care in use and are less suitable for rope access and work positioning.
Product Usage Instructions
1. Cutting and Marking the Rope:
- Cut the rope at the distributor or dealer’s.
- Mark the lengths of the rope intended for use as PPE rope with the producer’s marking.
2. Transport and Storage:
- Keep the rope in its original packaging to protect it from damage and weather influences.
- Avoid exposing the rope to direct sunlight (UV radiation), chemical agents, corrosives, solvents (acids), impurities (abrasives), moisture, high and low temperatures, sharp edges, vibrations, etc.
- Do not excessively twist or compress the rope during storage.
- Thoroughly dry the rope before storing it.
3. Singing Rock Guarantee:
- The rope comes with a 3-year warranty covering material and manufacturing defects.
- The warranty does not cover defects caused by usual wear and tear, negligence, improper use, prohibited modifications, or improper storage.
- In case of a warranty claim, supply the claimed rope together with its full label.
- Do not buy rope without a label as its origin may be uncertain.

INSTRUCTION FOR USE
(low-stretch ropes EN 1891)
This rope is personal protective equipment (PPE), protects persons against the
risk of falling from height, and constitutes a part of a fall protection
system.
WARNING
The rope is supplied with both general and specific instructions. Do not use
this rope before carefully reading these instructions and understanding them.
If there are any problems with the use of this rope or if you do not
understand these instructions, please contact

Any activities at height are dangerous and may lead to injury or death. By
using this rope you acknowledge all these risks and take personal
responsibility for any damage, injury or death that might be caused as a
result of using this rope. If you are unable to assume responsibility for
these risks or if you do not understand these instructions, please do not use
this rope.
USE
Please use this low-stretch rope only under the conditions specified for its
use, for the intended purpose described in the instructions and according to
the pictures that are not crossed out. Any other use is prohibited and may
cause accidents or death.
Your health and mental and physical condition could affect the safety of the
equipment user in normal and emergency use. You can only use this rope safely
if you have been properly trained or if you are under the constant supervision
of a properly trained and competent person. The user is responsible for
familiarizing with correct knotting techniques. If the rope is not supplied
with sewn end-loop, terminating the rope with a figure eight knot can be
recommended. Make sure that all the components used with this rope satisfy all
safety requirements of relevant safety standards and are intended to be sued
with a rope of this diameter. Using an unsuitable combination of PPE in the
securing chain may cause serious accidents and injuries or death. Please try
to use all the equipment in a safe place without the risk of falling.
A rescue plan shall be in place to deal with any emergencies that could arise
during the work. Check for potential risks in the workplace, such as running
the rope over sharp edges or objects, pendular movement during a fall, high
and low temperatures (use the rope in temperatures ranging from -40 °C to 80
°C), rain, frost cover, snow, mud, chemical agents, electrical conductivity,
etc., which may affect safe use. Icy or wet rope will change its performance,
particularly at knot making, dynamic resistance, static strength, abseiling,
belaying and ascending performance. This greater care of user is necessary
with icy and wet ropes. Knots made on the rope are reducing static and dynamic
resistance of the rope.
Never use any rope or accessory cord as a running belay device through which
the rope passes directly (pic. 2); this leads to immediate rope rupture and
following fall, which may be fatal to users. If there is a risk of fall, use
an additional system, such as a fall arrest system. Use solely a full-body
harness (EN 361). We recommend using EN 355 energy absorbers, EN 360
retractable lanyards or EN 353-1 and EN 353-2 guided-type fall arresters.
WARNING: Always make sure that there is enough free space under you so
that you do not hit the ground or any other obstacle in the case of a fall,
and that any free fall (the length of fall) is reduced to a minimum.
Anchor devices/points (EN 795): These devices and points must have sufficient
strength (metal items at least 12 kN and non-metal items at least 18 kN).
WARNING: The position of EN 795 anchor point must not put you at risk of
a dangerous fall or collision with an obstacle and must be as high as possible
with regard to the user’s position.
CHECK THE ROPE
Before each use, check the rope along its entire length (visually and by touch):
-
check for cuts, abrasion, and damage caused by high temperatures or chemicals – discoloration, hardened or empty space inside the rope, sudden change in diameter, etc. If you find any of this retire your rope at once.
During use: -
make sure that the individual system parts are in the proper position and do not negatively influence or obstruct each other;

make sure that the clips, connectors, adjusting, and fastening elements are properly set and secured and that the rope is properly tied, and that everything is in flawless condition.
Stop using the rope if
- was in direct contact with open fire or chemicals (visible external or non-visible internal damage may have occurred, thus reducing the rope’s strength and margin of safety),
- was used to catch a serious hard fall or a fall on a sharp edge,
- damage of one or more yarn in the sheath
- damage of one or more yarns of the core
- the service life of the rope exceeds 15 years from the production date or 10 years from the date of first use,
- the marking of the rope is missing or illegible.
If the rope is taken out of use, it must not be used until a competent person confirms in writing that it is OK and “FIT TO USE”. Do not alter the rope’s construction or attempt to repair it yourself. If a competent person identifies the rope as “RETIRED”, we recommend destroying the rope so that it cannot be used anymore.
REGULAR INSPECTIONS
User safety depends on the flawless condition of the equipment. Apart from inspections performed by the user, this rope must be inspected at least once every 12 months by a competent person for periodic inspections following the manufacturer’s procedure. The results of such inspections must be recorded (type, manufacturer, serial number, year of production, date of purchase and first use, date and result of inspection, date of next inspection, name and signature of the competent person).
CUTTING AND MARKING THE ROPE
In case of cutting the rope at the distributor or dealer’s, cut lengths of the
rope which is intended to be used as PPE rope, should be marked on their ends
as the producer’s marking shows.
Meaning of marking on the rope:

A10,5 means rope type A and 10,5 mm in diameter when tested according to EN
1891. B Type B rope (low stretch kernmantel rope of lower performance than
type A ropes, requiring greater care in use). Marking B9,0 means rope type B
and 9,0mm in diameter when tested according to EN 1891.
The performance of type B rope is less than the performance of type A rope. Greater care is required in protecting against the effects of abrasion, cuts, and general wear and tear. Great care should be taken to minimize the possibility of a fall. Type A ropes are more suitable for use in rope access and work positioning than type B ropes. Low stretch kernmantel ropes according to EN 1891 are marked in such a way, that each rope has within its core tape with the following information: – the name of the producer (SINGING ROCK) – standard according to which the rope is tested – rope type – production date of the rope – material used
MAINTENANCE, CLEANING, AND DISINFECTION
A dirty rope can be put into clean lukewarm water, washed by hand or with a soft brush, and subsequently rinsed with clean lukewarm water. If it is still dirty after being washed or if you need to disinfect it, you can use lukewarm water (up to 30 °C), and if necessary a soapy solution (ca. pH 5.5–8.5) may be used. After that, the rope must be washed in clean water and dried in a slightly heated, dark, and well-ventilated room, away from heat and UV radiation sources. Rope dampened during use or washing may shrink slightly (maximally for 8 %). No detergents, pressure or steam washers must be used. All chemical products, corrosive materials, markers, adhesive tapes, paints, and solvents must be regarded as harmful to the rope and cannot be used to treat, clean, or mark the rope unless advised to do so by the producer – SINGING ROCK.
TRANSPORT AND STORAGE
Keep the rope in its original packaging and protect it from damage and weather influences: direct sunlight (UV radiation), chemical agents, corrosives, solvents (acids), impurities (abrasives), moisture, high and low temperatures, sharp edges, vibrations, etc. Do not store the rope excessively twisted or compressed, and never store it before drying it thoroughly.
LIFETIME
The rope’s lifetime depends on the intensity of use and on the environment in
which it is used. It can be reduced by external influences (moisture,
temperature, UV radiation, etc.) and by improper storage and maintenance. The
rope may become damaged even after its very first use to such a degree that it
must be taken out of use. The lifetime is specified without considering the
wear or mechanical damage and with all the conditions described herein being
met. The lifetime of the rope is 15 years from the date of production and 10
years from its first use. In order to provide the best maintenance and
inspection possible and to reach the maximum lifetime we recommend using the
rope as a personal item. For production date determination, a small section of
the rope’s end must be
opened (if the label is missing or there is a doubt that label does not belong
to the particular rope) and control tape must be found.
