Product Usage Instructions

Safelock Mechanism

To close the safe lock mechanism:

  1. Insert the sheave (if required) into the opening of the body.
  2. Align the central hole of the sheave with the axle head.
  3. Slide the axle through the sheave (if using) and then into the body.
  4. Rotate the axle clockwise until the Safelock button reverts to a raised position with an audible ‘click’.

Opening

  1. Fully depress the Safelock button
  2. Rotate Knurled Axle-head 90° counter-clockwise (CCW)
  3. Pull Knurled Axle-head, to slide axle to a fully-open position

Closing

  1. Insert Sheave (if required) in to the opening of body
  2. Align central hole of sheave, with axle head
  3. Slide axle through the sheave (if using) and then in to the axle location hole
  4. Fully depress axle head and simultaneously rotate 90° clockwise until the Safelock button reverts to raised position, with an audible ‘click’

Product Use

  1. Ensure that the locking mechanism is engaged prior to use.
  2. The link may be used with or without the wheel/sheave. It is recommended to use the wheel/sheave whenever possible to centralize the load across the major axis.
  3. The link is designed to be loaded across the major axis.
  4. The link is designed to be loaded across the minor axis only if the sheave is fitted.

Misuse

Do not:

  1. Apply side loads to the link.
  2. Load the link over an edge.
  3. Connect metal hardware (e.g., Karabiners) to the axle. Only connect textile materials (e.g., rope) to the axle.
  4. Connect links directly together.
  5. Subject the link to dynamic loads.

Inspection & Maintenance

Perform the following inspections and maintenance:

  1. Prior to use, check the body and moving mechanisms for any damage.
  2. Ensure that the Safelock button is engaged.
  3. Check that when fitted, the wheel rotates freely in both directions.
  4. Check for ease of movement of the axle when opening/closing.
  5. Check the locking action of the spring-loaded Safelock button and the return spring action of the button on closure.
  6. Regularly lubricate moving parts with a light oil such as 3in1 or gun oil.

General
ISC equipment and components for prevention of falls from height meet or exceed recognised European, American or other International standards. It is the users’ responsibility to read and understand these instructions before use. If this product is sold outside of
the original country of sale, it is the reseller’s responsibility to supply this document in the language of re-sale. It is mandatory that a Risk Assessment be carried out prior to any use and a rescue plan be in place for any work at height. Always ensure that all components within a safety system are compatible and allow the system to function safely. An appropriately certified harness is the only acceptable body holding device that can be used in a fall arrest system. Refer to your harness instruction to identify the relevant connection point to use. It is recommended that the viability of any installation should be verified by a suitably qualified person. It is essential to check and verify the required clearance below the user before each use in order to avoid any impact with the ground or an obstacles in case of a fall. If there is any doubt about the compatibility of the products you have chosen please consult the manufacturer. Do not exceed loads either specified by the manufacturer or loads derived from the speci-fied MBS using a recognized factor of safety. Do not modify or alter this device in any way.

Use Requirements
It is the user’s responsibility to ensure understanding of the correct safe use of this equipment, to use it only for the purposes for which it is designed, and to practise all proper safety procedures. Extreme care should be taken when using this product near harmful chemicals, moving machinery, electrical hazards or near sharp edges and abrasive surfaces. Wet and icy conditions may cause rope to become slippery. A dangerous situation can occur when using a combination of items of equipment where the safe function of any one item is affected by or interferes with the safe function of another. The manufacturer or distributor will not be held responsible for the eventual damages, injuries or death resulting from an improper use of this equipment.

Lifespan
Please be aware that exposure to chemicals, extreme temperatures, sharp edges, major fall or load, etc. can signifi-cantly reduce the lifetime of a product, to as little as a single use. The potential lifetime of ISC products is up to 10 years for plastic or textile products, and indefinite for metal products. The actual lifetime of a product depends on a variety of factors such as, the intensity of use, the frequency of use, the environment in which it has been used (humidity, salt, sand, moisture, etc), the competency of the user, and how well it has been maintained and stored etc.

Cleaning
The product may be cleaned regularly (or after every use in a marine environment) with a mild detergent. Afterwards the product should be allowed to dry naturally. Moving parts may be oiled regularly with a light oil. Make sure that lubricants do not come into contact with parts that rely on friction with rope and/or with textile components.

Storage & Transportation
The product should be stored in a clean, dry environment free from corrosive or chemical substances and away from all sources of direct heat. Care should be taken to protect the product against damage during transportation.
