Product Information

Components: A Closer Look

  • Control Panel: The control panel is located at the top of the handlebar. It is used to power the Voltstair on and control its movement up and down stairs. The green button rotates the tracks to drive the unit up stairs, and the yellow button rotates the tracks to drive the unit down stairs. The up and down buttons must be held for the duration of an ascent or descent. If either button is released in the middle of a staircase, the tracks will automatically lock into place.
  • Handlebar Lock: Rotate the red knob to unlock the handlebar for extension or retraction. The knob is spring-loaded, so it must be held while extending or retracting. When you release the knob, the spring-loaded locks will be driven into one of three sets of holes, securing the handlebars in one of their three height settings (Retracted, Tall, & Medium). When ascending or descending a staircase, the handlebars should be extended as high as comfortably possible for maximum leverage.
  • Track Release: The track release is a set of horizontal red bars between the tracks. To release the tracks, press the top red bar towards the arrow indicated on the sticker, and pull the tracks out until they lock into place. To retract the tracks, press the top bar towards the arrow once again, and then slide the red bars down towards the bottom of the tracks. They will lock into place once the tracks are once again parallel with the main frame of the unit.
  • Platform: The platform is able to fold up for storage and transport. Simply push the front side up towards the main frame of the unit until they are parallel. The platform is designed to maximize weight capacity while also remaining thin enough to slide under heavy loads. Once the platform is folded down at a 90-degree angle to the main frame, it is ready to carry a load up or down stairs. With the tracks retracted, the Voltstair Go can be used as a normal flat ground hand truck.
  • Tracks: The Voltstair Go’s tracks are designed to operate on wood, carpet, cement, metal, and stone stairs, both indoors and outdoors. The tracks should be periodically checked for tightness for maximum climbing effectiveness and unit longevity. They can be tightened by inserting a hex wrench into the lower side of the red track bearing housing and driving the housing farther toward the top end of the track. Both sides of each track must be tightened or loosened equally.
  • Battery: The battery is located between the two tracks, just above the wheels. The battery can be charged by disconnecting the motor cord from the battery and inserting the charging cord in its place. The four lights on the battery indicate how much battery power is left. Each light represents a quarter of the battery’s power, so four lights indicate 100%, three lights indicate 75%, and so on.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Move the load onto the Voltstair Go and push it back towards the main upright frame of the unit. Note: Heavier items can be tipped to one side so that the bottom platform can slip under one side.
  2. Rotate the handlebar lock’s red knob to unlock the handlebar for an extension.
  3. Extend the handlebars to the desired height for maximum leverage.
  4. Press and hold the green button on the control panel to rotate the tracks and drive the unit up the stairs.
  5. Continue holding the green button until the ascent is complete.
  6. Once at the top of the stairs, release the green button to lock the tracks into place.
  7. Unload the load from the Voltstair Go.

Descending a Staircase

  1. Move the load onto the Voltstair Go and push it back towards the main upright frame of the unit. Note: Heavier items can be tipped to one side so that the bottom platform can slip under one side.
  2. Rotate the handlebar lock’s red knob to unlock the handlebar for an extension.
  3. Extend the handlebars to the desired height for maximum leverage.
  4. Press and hold the yellow button on the control panel to rotate the tracks and drive the unit down the stairs.
  5. Continue holding the yellow button until the descent is complete.
  6. Once at the bottom of the stairs, release the yellow button to lock the tracks into place.
  7. Unload the load from the Voltstair Go.

ASCENDING A STAIRCASE

  2. Lean the Voltstair Go back onto its wheels, and wheel it at an angle to the staircase you are planning to ascend.
  3. Back the Voltstair Go up to the bottom step, stopping when the tracks are about 10” from the bottom stair, and lean it back down onto the platform, so that the unit is once again at a 90 degree angle to the floor.
  4. Extend the tracks by pressing the track release lever forward and then pulling it up and out towards the back of the unit until the tracks lock into place.
  5. Extend the handlebar by rotating the red knob, and pulling the handlebar up until it locks into place. The handlebars should be raised as high as comfortably possible (2 settings).
  6. Engage the battery by flipping the battery switch into the “on” (I) position.
  7. Turn on the unit by flipping the red handlebar switch to the “on” (I) position.
  8. Using the handlebar, lean the unit towards the stairs until the tracks are resting evenly on the bottom two stairs.
  9. Begin the ascent by pressing the green button, and pressing the handlebars towards the stairs while walking backwards at the speed of the unit. Hold the green button for the entirety of your ascent. DESCENDING A STAIRCASE

  1. Move the load onto the Voltstair Go, and push it back towards the main upright frame of the unit. Note: heavier items can be tipped to one side so that the bottom platform can slip under one side.
  2. Lean the Voltstair Go back onto its wheels, and wheel it at an angle to the staircase you are planning to descend.
  3. Stop moving toward the staircase when the front of the load is a few inches from the edge of the top landing, and lean it forward to rest on the bottom of the platform.
  4. Extend the tracks by pressing the track release lever forward and then pulling it up and out towards the back of the unit until the tracks lock into place.
  5. Extend the handlebar by rotating the red knob, and pulling the handlebar up until it locks into place. The handlebars should be raised as high as comfortably possible (2 settings).
  6. Engage the battery by flipping the battery switch into the “on” (I) position.
  7. Turn on the unit by flipping the red handlebar switch to the “on” (I) position.
  8. Turn on the unit by flipping the red handlebar switch to the “on” (I) position.
  9. When you are ready to begin your descent, press the yellow button, and begin to walk forward as the tracks lower the unit into the staircase, when they reach the second stair down, the handlebar should be pressed down towards the stairs to maximize friction.
  10. Continue holding the yellow button and pressing the handlebar down until you reach the bottom landing.
