You will receive your device in a Large Box with Foam Protection, as photographed below. Unpack your Voltstair Dolly, removing all shipping and packing materials, and check all items for proper operation. Safety Precautions

  1. Read this entire manual before using the Voltstair Dolly, and use the Dolly only as described in this manual.
  2. Always make sure the black wheel platform is securely screwed on before use.
  3. Do not push the Dolly with the upper control handle in the fully extended position. Pushing the chair with the handle extended may cause the Dolly to tip when you encounter obstacles.
  4. DO NOT OPEN MOTOR. Contact Voltstair for service.
  5. Avoid getting dirt inside the tracks.
  6. Do not attach any additional items to this Dolly.
  7. The Stairlift Dolly will not work the same on all surfaces and in all environments and conditions.
  8. Never lubricate the belts or tracks of this product. Lubricating the track system can result in injury to the operator.
  9. Always lock the handlebar in position before you use the extended handlebar to tip the Dolly back.
  10. To clean the Voltstair Dolly, wipe with a towel and clean water. Dry after cleaning. Please note that cleaning products may cause corrosion and damage to the Dolly.
  11. Use only parts that are specifically made for this Stairlift Dolly. If replacement parts are needed, please contact Voltstair for assistance.
  12. Maintain and operate the Dolly only as described in this manual.

Lifetime warranty of the frame + 6 months on parts. Rendering any parts of the machine, and/or using not as described in this manual will result in cancellation of the warranty policy. Handlebar Controls

  • The RED switch turns on and o (the motor must be engaged with the key)
  • The GREEN buttons move the Dolly
  • The BLUE button turns the utility light ON and OFF.

NOTE: If neither button is being pressed, the Dolly will be locked in brake mode.

Height Adjustment Knob

The RED knob on the back of the seat can be rotated to release the lock in order to extend or retract the handlebar.

Wheel Installation

  1. Insert wheel mounting bolt through the dolly frame and slide the wheel over it.
  2. Place nut over the mounting bold and screw to secure the wheel in place.
  3. Proceed to tighten the nut onto the wheel by using the included wrench around the nut, and the hex key wrench to hold the screw in place from underneath.

Unfolding the Platform

  1. Locate the following two locks on either side of the unit.

  2. Unscrew both sides, and proceed to lower the platform.

  3. After platform is level, rescrew in the platform locks to prevent folding.

  4. To fold the platform, simply reverse these steps by removing the locks, folding the platform upwards, and replacing the locks in the starting position show to the right.

Battery and Indicator

  • The red indicator light (”A”) will illuminate when the power button is in the “on” position.
  • The four diamonds next to the red light (”B”) are the battery power level lights.

Charging The Battery

Please note that the Voltstair Dolly ships with the battery partially charged, so when it is first opened, it must be charged for an additional 2 hours to ensure that it is fully charged.
NOTE: The battery can take 4-6 hours to fully charge.

  • The battery is located on the upright component of the Dolly (See Section 6.0). Charge the battery by inserting the wire on the right side of the Stairlift into the charging port.
  • It is normal for the charger to make a noise while charging the battery.

Testing and Removing The Battery

  • Battery System: Lithium-Ion (li-ion) manufactured by Samsung

The green lights will illuminate according to how much power is left

  1. light means 25% battery remaining,
  2. lights means 50%,
  3. lights means 75%, and
  4. lights means 100% battery power remaining

To remove the battery from the unit, push the key inward and turn it to release the interlocking system. Then slide the battery to remove.

Key and Ignitions Positions

BATTERY MOUNT POSITIONS

  1. Un-Locked : Battery power is off, and battery can be removed.
  2. LOCKED: Battery power is off, and battery is locked into place and cannot be removed.

Learning to Use the Voltstair Dolly – Quick Start Steps

  1. Turn the key to the ON position (Item 3 in Section 7.2).
  2. Extend the upper handlebar to its fullest height by turning the red knob and pulling up the handle.
  3. Release and open the rubber tracks so that they are slanted away from the Dolly, and lock them into place.
  4. Press the red switch on the handlebar to the on position to turn the Dolly on. The Dolly is now ready for use.

Operation Details

Before each use of the Dolly, make a visual check to see that all parts are in place and that there are no loose or moving parts. If you see any out of ordinary issues with the Dolly, do not use it until you verify with our customer service representative that it is safe to use.

Ascending a Staircase With The Stairlift Dolly

  • STEP 1 Move the load onto the Dolly and ensure that it sits against the upright component.

  • STEP 2 Engage the battery by inserting the key and rotating clockwise to the red symbol. (See Section 7.2)

  • STEP 3 Back the Dolly up to the stairs until the treads are approximately 10” from the bottom stair.

  • STEP 4 Lock the Rear Wheels by stepping on the red “on” lever behind the back wheels.

  • STEP 5 Push the red track handle towards the arrow, and pull the tracks away from the Dolly to extend the tracks.

  • STEP 6 Turn RED handlebar switch on. (See Section 6.2)

  • STEP 7 Rotate the Red knob and pull the handlebar up to extend it until it locks into place. (See Section 6.2)

  • STEP 8 Lean the handlebar backward until the treads are resting on the staircase

  • STEP 9 When you are ready to begin your ascent, press the GREEN button. (See Section 6.2)

  • STEP 10 When you reach the top landing of the stairs, continue moving the Dolly well onto the platform while balancing the chair in a tilted position, until the front wheels have completely cleared the edge of the top step and are above the landing.

  • STEP 11 When the front wheels have cleared the edge of the landing, tilt the Dolly into the upright position and roll the Mobile Stairlift Dolly to the desired location.

Do NOT tip the Dolly forward until the front wheels are past the edge of the landing.

Desceonding a Staircase With The Stairlift Dolly

  • STEP 1 Move the load onto the Dolly and ensure that it sits against the upright component.

  • STEP 2 Engage the battery by inserting the key and rotating clockwise to the red symbol. (See Section 7.1)

  • STEP 3 Roll the Stairlift Dolly towards the stairs with the treads facing away from the staircase, making sure to stop well before the front wheels reach the stairs.
    Do NOT roll the Dolly’s front wheels over the top of the landing onto the stairs before following the next steps.

  • STEP 4 Lock the rear wheels by stepping on the red “on” lever behind the back wheels.

  • STEP 5 Turn RED handlebar switch on. (See Section 6.2)

  • STEP 6 Rotate the red knob and pull the handlebar up to extend it until it locks into place. (See Section 6.2) We recommend vextending the handlebar as highs as comfortably possible.

  • STEP 7 Tilt the Stairlift Dolly back to rest on the bottoms of the tracks. Lean the Dolly back until the tracks are at the approximate angle of the stairs you are planning to descend

  • STEP 8 Grip the handlebar firmly and use the YELLOW button (See Section X.X) to move the Dolly forward and down the stairs. Hold the Dolly balanced in a slanted/angled position until you have descended 2-3 stairs, at which point the treads will make contact flush against the slant of the stairs.

  • STEP 9 When the back wheels reach the bottom landing, release the YELLOW button and lean the Dolly forward into the upright position.

  • STEP 10 Unlock the wheels and roll the Voltstair Dolly to the desired location

This device contains a battery, and must be disposed of properly. Please contact your dealer or supplier for further information about product disposal at the end of the product’s lifetime.

Care and Cleaning Instructions

  • To clean the Dolly, use a clean cloth or soft brush with warm clean water.
  • Dry completely before use.
  • Do not use products that have bleach or phenolic cleaners.
  • Avoid over saturation or leaving the chair wet for any amount of time.
  • To clean the track casing, use SD-20 All Purpose Cleaner and a cloth to remove any grease or other substance.
  • Thoroughly dry before use.

What does this limited warranty cover?

  • This Limited Warranty covers any defects in material or workmanship under normal use during the Warranty Period.
  • During the Warranty Period, Climbing Steps, Inc will repair or replace, at no charge, products or parts of a product that proves defective because of improper material or workmanship, under normal use and maintenance.

What will we do to correct problems?
Climbing Steps, Inc will either repair or replace the Product at no charge, using new or refurbished replacement parts or products.

How long does the coverage last?
The Warranty Period for products purchased from Climbing Steps, Inc is Lifetime on the Frames Welds and 180 days on all parts from the date of purchase. A replacement product or part assumes the remaining warranty of the original product or 180 days from the date of replacement or repair, whichever is longer.

What does this limited warranty not cover?
This Limited Warranty does not cover any problem that is caused by

  • conditions, malfunctions, misuse, accidents, physical damage, modifications, or damage not resulting from defects in material or workmanship
