ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Your Oven Cabinet comes with one overhead Deep Bridge Cabinet, and these instructions will provide direction on installing both, together, to give your oven a built-in appearance. To that end, the Oven and Deep Bridge Cabinet are the same depth as standard base cabinets.

This Oven Cabinet and Deep Bridge Cabinet should be installed by an experienced cabinet installer. This guide is not intended to be a substitute for installation experience. The below instructions assume efforts will be made, before beginning, to identify problem areas where the floor/wall may not be level. Installation can be done by one person, but is easiest with two people.

NOTE: Oven and overhead Deep Bridge Cabinet should be anchored to studs in the wall and adjoining wall/base cabinets. On Deep Bridge Cabinets: any cabinet this deep should be supported by at least 3 points of contact, when installing. READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY PRIOR TO BEGINNING THE INSTALLATION. AWC DOES NOT WARRANT THE INSTALLATION OF THIS PRODUCT.

Tall oven cabinets are built to contain double ovens or combination oven/microwave units and feature one drawer at the bottom and a double-door Deep Bridge Cabinet at the top (in one of three heights, 12”, 18” or 24”). The bottom drawer may be removed and used for a warming oven.
The oven opening may need to be trimmed to fit your selected oven unit. See appliance manufacturers specs to determine final cut out size; the table below provides a range:

Some ovens may be smaller than the current minimum size opening; if so, there are 3” and 6” H fillers available, for purchase separately, in every finish. Leave a minimum of 1 1/2” W on right and left sides. Trim the height on the bottom rail by 1 1/2” maximum, and on the top by 3” maximum.

Removing rails & stiles:
You can use a square-head (Robertson bit) to remove screws from horizontal rails. Remove inner-most pocket screw with a square-head drill bit (Robertson bit) before cutting oven opening to a larger size.

For further trimming:
Check your oven manufacturer’s cut-out opening width and height to ensure you get the proper opening size when fitting your oven to the cabinet. Make oven opening alterations prior to installing cabinet. Cut opening in cabinet back to allow access to electrical outlets. For trimming white and gray vinyl finish cabinets, it is crucial that a very sharp blade is used to avoid damaging the edges of the vinyl. Trim only from the outside of the piece, not where the screws are pocket bored.

Double Oven Wall Cabinet – cutout sizes

 | Cutout Minimum| Cutout Maximum
Oven Width| 24″ (61 cm)| 30″ (76.2 cm)
Oven Height| 47 5/8″ (55.24 cm)| 52 1/8″ (55.24 cm)

Build a platform to support oven: Materials to build the platform (3/4” plywood, 2 x 4 lumber, brackets and screws) are not included.
Build an oven support platform and sub-base using 3/4” (or thicker) plywood, and check its position within the cabinet, without anchoring platform permanently in place yet. (Fig. 1 and Fig. 2). The top of this platform must be level with lower edge of oven opening; double-check with a level, and shim as needed. Lower the oven into opening in cabinet, resting it on the platform, to fit test the size. Then remove oven, to begin the cabinet install.

Mark all stud locations on wall prior to installation. Move Oven Cabinet into position (without oven in it, and without overhead Deep Bridge Cabinet connected) in the cabinet run. Remove the drawer box. Ensure electrical outlets are visible at back of cabinet. Align oven cabinet face frame to adjacent base cabinet face frames. Use level and check for plumb of unit, using shims where necessary. Use #8 x 2” cabinet screws to attach oven and neighboring base cabinet through face frames. Use #10 x 2 1/2” cabinet screws to attach cabinet to wall studs through the top cabinet and drawer areas. Drill a 3/16” pilot hole at the stud locations through the back panel and into the stud. Make sure to position screws 1” or more from the top, bottom and sides. If the oven cabinet placement isn’t aligned to wall studs, use anchor bolts to secure cabinet to the wall.

Now secure the platform (built from plywood/ lumber, not included) to the Oven Cabinet sides Fig. 1 Fig. 2 (again, the top of platform must be level with lower edge of oven opening). This can be done using angle brackets (not included) or by screwing through cabinet side panels (into 2 x 4 lumber legs) before attaching to adjoining wall and base cabinets. If the Oven Cabinet is at the end of a cabinet run, use angle brackets to anchor cabinet to the floor. If you need to do this, install angle brackets in the space where the oven will be placed prior to building oven support platform.
Follow manufacturer’s instructions for installing oven unit, including their attachment method for anchoring the oven to the cabinet’s face frame.

  • These are suggestions only. Support structure (not included) for oven may be done in various ways.

Install overhead Deep Bridge Cabinet:
To Install the overhead Deep Bridge Cabinet, follow instructions for installing wall cabinets (included in Bridge Cabinet packaging), as in Fig. 4. The 12” H and 18” H bridges are installed directly on top of the Oven Cabinet, and are screwed in from the face frame of the Deep Bridge Cabinet to the oven frame, along the back, side and top. Anchor the bridge to the studs in the wall, as well.

Deep Wall Bridge With 96” H cabinet ordered:
The 96” Oven Cabinet comes with a Deep Bridge Cabinet that is 23 1/2” H. In order to lift the bridge by 1/2” to reach a 24” required height, there is a filler, called a Frame spacer (as in Fig. 5), included with this bridge cabinet only that goes along  the front and sides between
the top of the Oven Cabinet and the Deep Bridge Cabinet.  This side frame spacer ensures we reach the full (Comes in three pieces) (Viene en tres piezas) overall height of 96” H for the entire cabinet. Start by installing the side frame spacer directly to the top Fig. 4 Fig. 5 Deep Bridge Cabinet of the oven cabinet. Note that this comes in 3 separate pieces. Start by nailing the front piece into the frame. The side pieces are grooved and can be lined up with the top of the cabinet and then nailed in from the top. Then install the Deep Bridge Cabinet so that it rests on top of the side frame spacer, so everything is flush at the front.

NOTE: It is critical that the bridge cabinet isn’t mounted only at the back (to wall studs). It needs to be mounted on the top side walls of the Oven Cabinet, and thru their front face frames; this means securely anchoring the two pieces together, and both individually to studs in the wall at 1” or more from the top, bottom and sides; if possible, connect these to any other adjacent overhead wall cabinets. The lower part of the Oven Cabinet can be secured by connecting to adjacent base cabinets. TIP: Whenever drilling into a cabinet frame, back panel, wall cleat, etc., it is recommended to pre-drill a pilot hole first to help prevent splitting.
