Before operating your Studio Live digital mixer, you must register online for
software downloads, the Owner’s Manual, and instructional videos.
- Go online to my.presonus.com and create — or log into — your My. Pre Sonus user account.
- Click to register.
- Enter your Studio Live mixer serial number.
- Download your Windows or Mac software and Owner’s Manual.
- Install your Windows or Mac drivers and software.
- Connect your equipment to the Studio Live mixer. Please refer to the diagrams in this Quick Start Guide and additional instructions in your Owner’s Manual.
- Watch the Studio Live Instruction video and consult your Owner’s Manual for further instructions.

Connect to UC Surface: USB
The most direct method of connecting to UC Surface is to install it on a
Mac or Windows computer and connect a USB cable from your mixer to your
computer:
- Once connected, launch Universal Control.
- Click on your mixer’s icon to launch UC Surface.
Review the Studio Live Software Library Manual for more information on using UC Surface with your Series III Rack Mixer.
Connect to UC Surface: Ethernet
Your Studio Live Series III Rack Mixer can also communicate with UC Surface
over a standard LAN network. To configure this, you will need a wireless
router, your mixer, and your computer or mobile device:
- Connect standard CAT5e or CAT6 Ethernet cables from your computer’s Ethernet port to an Ethernet router, and from the router to the Control port on the Studio Live’s rear panel.
- Launch Universal Control on the computer (mac OS or Windows) that is connected to the router.
- When Universal Control launch window appears. Click or tap on your mixer’s icon to launch UC Surface. For more information on UC Surface, see the Studio Live Software Library Reference Manual.
Connect to UC Surface: Wireless
- Connect a standard CAT5e or CAT6 Ethernet cable from the Control port on the Studio Live’s rear panel to an available port on your wireless router.
- Connection your computer, iPad®, or Android™ device to the wireless router’s network.
mac OS and Windows:
- Launch Universal Control on the computer that is networked to the router.
- When the Universal Control launch window appears. Click or tap on your mixer’s icon to launch UC Surface.
- Click on the Settings button in the upper right hand corner of the screen to enable device permissions.
iPad and Android:
- Download UC Surface from the Apple App or Google Play store
- Launch UC Surface
- Tap on your mixer’s icon to start controller your mixer.
- Click on the Settings button in the upper right hand corner of the screen to enable device permissions.

Firmware updates
From UC Surface
Firmware updates can be done from UC Surface using a Mac or Windows
computer. You will require the following:
- The latest version of UC Surface running on your Mac or Windows computer.
- An active Internet connection.
- Your computer, networked to the mixer (wired or wireless connection, including USB).
- Your mixer, powered on.
To update your mixer firmware from UC Surface

Launch Universal Control and connect to your mixer to open the UC Surface application.

In UC Surface, open the Device Settings by selecting the gear icon in the top right of the screen.

In the Device Settings view you’ll see a section for Firmware. Press the “Check for new firmware”
button. -
If there is new firmware available, you’ll be asked if you’d like to install it now.

If you choose “yes,” UC Surface will download the latest firmware and install it on your mixer.

When the installation is complete, you’ll be prompted to restart your mixer.
