What is the “InfoLITHIUM” battery pack?
It is a lithium-ion battery pack that can exchange data related to its consumption with compatible electronic devices. We recommend that you only use the “InfoLITHIUM” battery pack with electronic devices that have the logo.
If you use this battery pack with an electronic device that does not have the logo, the remaining battery capacity will not be indicated in minutes. The remaining battery capacity may not be indicated correctly depending on the conditions and environment of use. “InfoLITHIUM” is a trademark of Sony Corporation.

CAUTION

  • If the battery pack is mishandled, the battery pack can burst, cause a fire, or even chemical burns. Observe the following cautions.
  • Do not disassemble.
  • Do not crush and do not expose the battery pack to any shock or force such as hammering, dropping, or stepping on it.
  • Do not short-circuit and do not allow metal objects to come into contact with the battery terminals.
  • Do not expose to high temperatures above 60 °C (140 °F) such as in direct sunlight or in a car parked in the sun.
  • Do not incinerate or dispose of in a fire.
  • Do not handle damaged or leaking lithium ion batteries.
  • Be sure to charge the battery pack using a genuine Sony battery charger or a device that can charge the battery pack.
  • Keep the battery pack out of the reach of small children.
  • Keep the battery pack dry.
  • Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by Sony.
  • Dispose of used battery packs promptly as described in the instructions.
  • Refer to the operating instructions of your electronic device for further details.

Effective Use of the Battery Pack

  • Battery pack performance decreases in low-temperature surroundings, reducing the time the battery pack can be used. To conserve battery power, we recommend that you keep the battery pack warm, for example in your pocket, and only insert it in your electronic device just before use.
  • Have spare battery packs handy for two or three times the expected recording time, and do a trial recording before the actual recording.

How To Store The Battery Pack

  • If the battery pack is not used for a long time, once a year fully charge it and then
fully use it up on your electronic device before storing in a dry, cool place.

Battery Life

  • The battery life is limited. If the remaining battery time is considerably shortened, the battery pack is reaching the end of its life. Replace it with a new one.
  • The battery life of each battery pack varies according to the storage method, operating conditions, and environment.

Compensation for recorded content

  • Recorded content cannot be compensated for if recording or playback is disabled
due to a malfunction of the battery pack or other devices.

How to use

Charging (See illustration A)

  • During charging, the LEDs light up one by one in order by “Check Charging”.
  • LEDs remain lit until the normal charge is completed (more than 90%). (They cannot be turned off during charging.) The LEDs are not lit from when the normal charge is completed until the full charge is completed. The battery is fully charged about 1 hour after the normal charge is completed.
  • If your camcorder has a charging lamp, it goes out when full charge or normal charge is completed.
  • For details, please see the operating instructions of your camcorder.
    • We recommend charging the battery pack in an ambient temperature range of 10°C to 30°C (50°F to 86°F). The battery may not be effectively charged outside this temperature range.
    • You do not have to discharge the battery pack before recharging. Charging the battery pack while some charge remains does not affect the original battery capacity.

Note
When charging the battery after a long period of non-use, the LEDs may not light up immediately after charging starts or during charging. This is not a malfunction.

To check the remaining battery capacity

  • The 4 LEDs indicate the remaining capacity of the battery.
  • When you press the Check Capacity button (PUSH) B , the LED C lights up for about 3 seconds.

Notes

  1. When using an AC adapter/charger with an LCD (e.g. AC-VQ850/SQ950), the battery pack’s LEDs do not light up during charging even if you press the PUSH button B. Check the remaining time on the AC adapter/charger’s LCD.
  2. When the battery pack is installed in an “InfoLITHIUM”-compatible camcorder and used (including for charging), the battery pack’s LEDs do not light up during charging even if you press the PUSH button B. Check the remaining time on the camcorder’s LCD.
  3. The battery level displayed on the camcorder may not be the same as the battery level indicated by the battery pack’s LEDs. They should both only be used as a rough guide.

Remaining battery time indicator

  • When charging in a battery charger (e.g. BC-VM50), pushing  B makes the LED light up.
  • When a VIDEO LIGHT (e.g. HVL-20DM, HVL-IRM) is used, pushing B makes the LED light up.

Specifications
