THIRD ARM NOT REQUIRED.

Unlike other flaring tools, these don’t require you to grow an extra appendage. Who’s got time for that? Simple setup, precise positioning and a secure hold allow you to quickly conquer and move on to the next job. Just be sure to use hilmor flaring tools on soft tubing materials such as copper, aluminum, brass and steel.

Flaring Instructions

  1. Prep the tube for flaring by cutting to length and deburring the inside and outside of the tube end.
  2. Place the flare nut in position on the tube.
  3. Don’t forget this or you’ll kick yourself later.
  4. Attach the flare cone to the yoke.
  5. Using the spring-loaded block that works like a clothespin, insert the tube into the corresponding hole.
  6. Good news, you don’t need to tighten any wing nuts.
  7. Make sure the tube is flush with the top of the block; the green arrow is a stop to ensure the correct flare height.
  8. The stop is moved out of the way by the yoke when it slides over the tube.
  9. Slide the yoke down the block until it aligns over the tube.
  10. The ball detents along the side help align the yoke to the correct position.
  11. Tighten the side bar to lock the yoke into place.
  12. Push down on the ergonomic yoke handle to engage the tube quickly.
  13. Turn the handle, making complete rotations until flare is formed and the handle cannot be turned anymore.
  14. To release the tube once complete, turn the handle backwards, loosen the side bar, and remove or slide yoke down and away from the tube to open the block.
  15. Brag.

STAY LOOSE IN THE TIGHTEST SPACES

At times, your workspace isn’t fit for a spider. That’s why we’ve retooled our design to make swaging tools much more convenient and comfortable to use. With a simpler setup, it’s less work and easier to position, making the tightest spaces a little less terrible. Just be sure to use hilmor swaging tools on soft tubing materials such as copper, aluminum, brass and steel.

Swaging Instructions

  1. Prep the tube for swaging by cutting to length and deburring the inside and outside of the tube end.
  2. Attach the correct swage head to the yoke for the size of tube you are using.
  3. Place the tube in the block, keeping the tube end about 1 1/2 times the diameter of the tube above the top of the block so that there is enough material to make a swage.
  4. Ex 1/4 tube should be 3/8 above the top of the block.
  5. Release the spring-loaded block that works like a clothespin, allowing it to hold the pipe in position.
  6. Slide the yoke down the block until it aligns over the tube. The ball detents along the side help align the yoke to the correct position.
  7. Push down on the ergonomic yoke handle to engage the tube quickly.
  8. Turn the handle a few times to form a quality swage.
  9. To release the tube once complete, turn the handle backwards, loosen the side bar, remove the yoke and open the block.
  10. Stop, and stare.
