Frequently Asked Questions

Is there any chance this will be certified for Animals in the near future?

Yes, I'm sure it will! Both Hamilton Beach and Alexa are doing wonders nowadays! My Cat loves a couple of cups of coffee in the mornings. Especially when he is off to a mouse hunt afterward. He gets a little jittery from the caffeine. But, a couple of slices of toast with butter and raspberry jam take the edge off his shakes.

Can I make my own custom alexa skill for this? Are the commands available to me so I can do so ?

You can set up any routine youd like... I have mine set to “Alexa, Coffee” and that kicks off confirmation, then she tells me the weather, then I have a 10 min delay and she tells me to come get the coffee... Then another delay of an hour and 45 mins telling me to turn the coffee pot off and on again. You can literally do anything in a routine.

Is the smart plug required for this to work with Alexa app?

No. A smart plug is not required. You can start and shut off the coffee maker using voice commands with the Alexa app or your eco device. Amazon should have been able to answer this for you. We love this coffee maker.

Will it still run automatically if my wifi goes out?

Yes, it does! You can create a routine in the Alexa app and the coffee make will run by itself without any command.

It can’t alert you that coffee is ready however you can ask Alexa things like “what is the coffeemaker brew status?” “ready to brew” button on the coffeemaker must be turned on to brew remotely via the app. When this is activated, you can turn coffeemaker on or off.

Can I control this with an Echo located upstairs?

It should not be a problem as long as the Echo is on the same network as the coffee maker. We use ours and make coffee from our Echo.

Can the coffee pot be programmed without using Alexa?

No. This is a smart appliance it does require at least the Alexa app on a phone/computer as well as WiFi to control and set routines.

Does anyone have an insulated carafe that works with this? The coffee only stays warm for 2 hours and I want it to last longer.

I don't know but most coffee makers are 2 hours...If should check and see if you can fine on the last 2 hours.

Does this coffee pot work with WiFi 6 routers?

Mine didn't. I couldn't get it to connect to wifi. After a couple of hours trying I gave up. My problem, lack of connectivity, may be isolated though. It's supposed to work with Wifi and I'd think it would work perfectly with a Wifi 6 router.

Does the clock show you the time at all times?

Yes, it does! I like my coffee maker I set it up at night and have coffee when I’m ready Only thing I would change is it turns off warmer as free 2 hours The clock keeps perfect time.

Does anyone know, what is the wattage of this machine? (when brewing) and How many amps does it draw when brewing?

The bottom says 950W. While brewing, it pulled a pretty constant 7.8 amps that only got close to 8 once or twice. Also, it got to 962W while brewing.

How do you reset the time?

To reset the time, unplug the unit from the wall. Wait 20 seconds then plug in. It will then connect to your internet service and acquire the current time.
