Pre-installation

TOOLS REQUIRED

Installation

Assemble Drawer Box / Pullout

  1. Find a clean, flat work surface, and ensure that all box parts are easily within reach.

  2. Place one of the parts with dowel holes fat in front of you, with the holes facing up, and the grooved side farthest from you.

  3. Squeeze a small amount of wood glue into each dowel hole.

  4. Push doweled parts into dowel holes, ensuring that all the grooves line up with each other. This should make a squared “U” shape, with three sides of the box together.

  5. Squeeze a thin bead of wood glue into the groove of the three assembled pieces, and insert the box bottom into the groove. Spread the vertical pieces just slightly while the bottom is being slid into the groove, in order to prevent the glue from being squeezed to the bottom of the grooves.

  6. Squeeze a small amount of glue into each dowel hole and groove of the remaining part, and push the remaining part onto to the assembly, lining up the dowel holes with the exposed dowels, and the groove with the box bottom.

  7. Ensure that all box joints are flush and fitting snugly. Squeeze clamps (optional) may be used at the sides of the box to hold the parts together while the glue dries
    (approximately 15 minutes).

  8. Allow 2 hours for glue to cure before installation, and 24 hours before use.

Installing Drawer Boxes / Pullouts on Frameless Cabinets

  1. Before installation, familiarize yourself with how the drawer slide operates, and how to detach and reattach the drawer member from the cabinet member. Detach members from each other using the black clip which is visible when the slide is fully extended. Reattach members by sliding drawer member into cabinet member until plastic clip clicks into place.
  2. Attach drawer members to the drawer box / pullout:
  3. Using a pencil, lightly mark a horizontal line on both sides of the box 7/8” up from the bottom of the box.
  4. Detach a drawer member from the cabinet member, and place the drawer member along the line drawn, with the flat side of the drawer member against the side of the box.
  5. With the front of the drawer member flush to the front of the box, center the attachment holes on the pencil line, and fasten the drawer member in place using screws
  6. Repeat the first two steps for the drawer member on the other side of the box.
Tip – Attach using the horizontal slot holes to allow for some front/back adjustment, or the vertical slot holes to allow for some up/down adjustment.

Note – Cabinet members for a drawer slide must be firmly installed at the same height as each other, level, and parallel to both the cabinet sides and each other. When installing drawer slides in a frameless cabinet, cabinet members are typically fastened to the sides of the cabinet, and rear brackets are not typically used. The following instructions outline one method of installation, however other installation strategies may be used, depending on individual circumstances.

  • Attach cabinet members to the sides of the cabinet opening:

    • On both interior side walls of the cabinet, lightly mark a level horizontal line 1” above the bottom of each drawer box / pullout installation site in the cabinet. This line indicates the vertical position of the center of the cabinet member attachment holes.
    • Using screws provided, attach the cabinet members to the interior side walls of the cabinet with the flat side of the cabinet member against the cabinet wall, centered on the line drawn in the previous step and flush to the front face of the cabinet.
Tip – Attach using the horizontal slot holes to allow for some front/back adjustment. Attach through cabinet member tabs to allow the cabinet member to adjust to proper fit for drawer boxes that are slightly too narrow for the opening.
  • Slide the box into place, and push it all the way in. Ensure smooth operation of drawer box in and out. Small adjustments to cabinet member positioning may be necessary if box is not moving smoothly and easily.

Installing Drawer Boxes / Pullouts on Face Frame Cabinets

  • Before installation, familiarize yourself with how the drawer slide operates, and how to detach and reattach the drawer member from the cabinet member. Detach members from each other using the black clip which is visible when the slide is fully extended. Reattach members by sliding drawer member into cabinet member until plastic clip clicks into place.

  • Familiarize yourself with how the rear of the drawer slide assembly fits into the rear bracket. The drawer slide slides or snaps into the longer side of the “L-shaped” rear bracket so that the flat side of the cabinet member rests against the rear bracket.

  • Attach drawer members to the drawer box / pullout:

    • Using a pencil, lightly mark a horizontal line on both sides of the box 7/8” up from the bottom of the box.
    • Detach a drawer member from the cabinet member, and place the drawer member along the line drawn, with the flat side of the drawer member against the side of the box.
    • With the front of the drawer member flush to the front of the box, center the attachment holes on the pencil line, and fasten the drawer member in place using screws provided.
    • Repeat the first two steps for the drawer member on the other side of the box.

Tip – Attachment using the horizontal slot holes will allow for some front/back adjustment, while using the vertical slot holes will allow for some up/down adjustment

Note – Cabinet members for a drawer slide must be firmly installed at the same height as each other, level, and parallel to both the cabinet sides and each other. Cabinet members are typically fastened to the face frame at the front, and held up at the back using a bracket attached to the rear of the cabinet. The following instructions outline one method of this typical installation process, using the brackets included with this program. Other installation strategies may be used, depending on individual circumstances.

  • Attach cabinet members to the sides of the cabinet opening:
    • At each side of the face frame opening, mark a point on the inside edge of the face frame 3/8” from the front of the face frame and 1” from the bottom of the opening. These points indicate the location of the center of the attachment holes at the front of the cabinet members.
    • Measure the distance from the cabinet floor to the height of the point marked in the previous step, and mark a level horizontal line at this same height on the back wall of the cabinet, roughly the length of the face frame opening width. This line indicates the center height of the horizontal-slotted attachment hole in the rear bracket.
    • At the front of the cabinet, measure the distance from an inside cabinet wall to the nearest inside edge of the face frame opening, and add 1 1/16” to this measurement.
    • Measuring from the same inside cabinet wall at the back of the cabinet, mark a point on the horizontal line at the above calculated measurement. This point indicates the location of the center of the horizontal-slotted attachment hole in the rear bracket.
  • To calculate the installation location of the second rear bracket, measure the width of the face frame opening, and subtract 3 1/8”. This calculation is the center to center measurement between the horizontal-slotted attachment holes of both rear brackets.
  •  Attach a rear bracket to a cabinet member, and attach the front of this cabinet member to the inside of the face frame at the points marked in the first step, with the flat side of the cabinet member against the inside edge of the face frame, using one of the screws provided.
  • Using one of the provided screws, attach the rear bracket to the interior bacak wall of the cabinet through the horizontal-slotted attachment hole at the point marked at the back wall of the cabinet.
  • Repeat the last two steps for the opposing drawer slide in the cabinet.
  • To ensure parallel installation of cabinet members, slightly loosen the screws in both rear brackets, and then slide the box into place. Push the box all the way in, and then back it off enough to allow access to the rear brackets. Re-tighten the rear bracket screws.
  • Add one or two additional screws through each rear bracket for additional strength.

Maintenance

Solid wood does expand in warm, humid conditions which are common in spring and summer, and contracts in cold, dry conditions typical in fall and winter. Homes with solid wood products should maintain a constant humidity level of 35-50% to avoid expansion and contraction damage.
The high quality top coat used has a multilayer finish application adhesion which requires a curing time of 28 days AFTER the drawer box / pullout has been unpacked and installed.

  • DO NOT Use any abrasive material (including your fingernails) to dust off the product.
  • DO NOT SPRAY on any liquid to clean the drawer box / pullout, simply wipe with a clean cotton cloth, dampened with warm water only. Make sure to wipe dry right away to avoid damage to the product.
  • DO NOT under any circumstance use multipurpose cleaner of ANY KIND as the chemicals found in them will compromise the beautiful finish of this high quality product.

Care and Cleaning

Wood Products
As with all wood products, avoid excessive moisture on your newly installed wood products. Simply wipe with a clean cloth; do not spray on water. Use a damp 100% cotton cloth. A small amount of mild dish detergent may be used if required. Wipe dry immediately with a dry, soft cloth. This process may be repeated as often as necessary. It is recommended that you complete small areas at a time so that the moisture from the damp cloth will not remain on the wood for an extended period of time. For best results, wipe in the same direction as the wood grain, rather than across the grain or in a circular motion.
Please do not use products containing ammonia, bleach, wax, or silicone, as these types of products may damage the FInish on your wood products. Warm water and clean, cotton cloths are best for cleaning wood products.
Everyday spills should be wiped dry immediately to avoid standing water or moisture on the wood. Do not allow wet cloths to hang against any wood product, as this could result in eventual damage to the wood or the FInish.
