CGA 870 Oxygen Regulators

Product Information

The Oxygen Regulators are devices that regulate the oxygen pressure from a cylinder to safe levels for patients in need of oxygen therapy. There are two types of connections available: CGA 870 connection and CGA 540 connection. The CGA 870 connection features a Flow Selector Knob, BARB outlet fitting (located on the underside of CGA 870), Flow Selector Window, Pin, Contents Gauge, and T-Handle. The CGA 540 connection features a Flow Selector Knob, DISS outlet fitting (located on the underside of CGA 540), Flow Selector Window, Contents Gauge, and Nut. These regulators come with a Limited Three Year Warranty against manufacturing defects. Please note that normal wear and tear on non- durable components such as rubber accessories and casters are not covered under this warranty.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Ensure that the regulator is compatible with the oxygen cylinder you are using.
  2. Attach the regulator to the cylinder by aligning the regulator’s connection with the cylinder’s valve connection.
  3. Tighten the regulator onto the cylinder’s valve connection.
  4. Connect the oxygen delivery device to the outlet of the regulator.
  5. Before turning on the oxygen cylinder valve, ensure that you are not directly in front of or behind the regulator.
  6. Slowly open the cylinder valve to allow oxygen to flow through the regulator.
  7. Adjust the Flow Selector Knob to regulate the oxygen pressure to the appropriate level for the patient.
  8. Monitor the Contents Gauge to ensure that there is enough oxygen in the cylinder for the patient’s needs.
  9. If there is a defect covered under warranty, contact your authorized Lifestyle Mobility Aids dealer or Rhythm Healthcare, LLC for assistance.

LIMITED THREE YEAR WARRANTY

Limited Three Year Warranty against manufacturing defects. This warranty does not cover product failure due to misuse, negligence, improper storage or handling, improper operation or unauthorized modifications.
Normal wear and tear on non-durable components, such as rubber accessories and casters are not covered under this warranty. These items are subject to normal wear and need periodic replacement.
For Warranty Service, it is recommended, but not required, that the product be returned to the Rhythm Healthcare, LLC dealer through whom it was originally purchased. However, all Rhythm Healthcare, LLC dealers are qualified to assist you in obtaining warranty service. If the product is to be returned to Rhythm Healthcare, LLC, prior authorization will be required.
In the event of a defect covered by this warranty, Rhythm Healthcare, LLC will determine if the product will be repaired or replaced.

Oxygen Regulators lower or regulate the oxygen pressure from a cylinder, to levels that can be safely used by the patient. These regulators are intended for the administration of oxygen to patients who require oxygen therapy.

SETUP: CGA 870

  • Before attempting to operate any oxygen equipment, you must be trained in its proper use. Read and understand the manual and safety precautions prior to installation and use.
  • Make sure you have proper eye protection.
  • Inspect the cylinder following the instructions of your gas supplier. Begin your installation of the regulator to the oxygen cylinder by making certain hands/gloves and tools are free of oil, grease and other contaminants.
  • Inspect the regulator for oil, grease and other contaminants. If these are visible, DO NOT use the regulator and contact your dealer.
  • Ensure sealing washer is in place on the inlet to the regulator.
  • Slip the yoke over the cylinder post and fit the pins into the holes on the cylinder valve. The pins should fit easily into these holes.
  • Turn T-Handle clockwise until the screw point is seated in the dimple on the cylinder valve. Tighten until secure.
  • Attach the oxygen supply tubing to the to the barb or DISS outlet of the regulator.

SETUP: CGA 540

  • Inspect the cylinder following the instructions of your gas supplier. Be sure to purge the cylinder valve seat of debris.
  • Inspect the regulator for oil, grease and other contaminants. If these are visible, DO NOT use the regulator and contact your dealer.
  • Gingerly thread the large nut on the regulator onto the connection on the cylinder valve.
  • Tighten the nut with a wrench until secure.
  • Attach the oxygen supply tubing to the barb or DISS outlet of the regulator.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

  • Set the regulator to the “off” position by turning knob counterclockwise until it is set to “0”.
    SAFETY NOTICE: MAKE SURE ARE NOT directly in front of or behind the regulator when opening the cylinder valve!

  • SLOWLY turn the cylinder valve (counterclockwise) about one full turn.

  • WARNING : If there is an audible hissing sound, there is a leak in the system. To relieve built-up pressure, turn the cylinder off then turn the regulator on. Tighten the regulator to the cylinder then open the cylinder again. If this does not resolve the issue, turn the system off and contact your dealer. DO NOT attempt to repair the regulator or cylinder yourself.
