Installing Your Natural Gas Alarm

DeNova Natural Gas Alarms offer the fastest and most reliable solution in accurately detecting gas leaks. Our gas sensors are at the heart of what we do at DeNova Detect.
They are the key component in all of our gas alarms and detectors. Our gas sensors are built at our Cosmos Sensor Center – one of the largest gas sensor manufacturing facilities in the world.

Once we developed the world’s first residential gas alarm in 1964, we continued to innovate by offering the first battery-powered wireless and non- wireless Natural Gas Alarms.
Installing Your Natural Gas Alarm

Where To Install Natural Gas Alarms

  • Natural Gas alarms should be installed in all rooms where a gas appliance is located. Examples include kitchens (gas leaks from gas ovens and cook tops), laundry rooms (gas leaks from a gas clothes dryer), and furnace areas (gas leaks from furnace burners or boilers).
  • Gas leaks may migrate along pipes. Consider installing Natural Gas alarms in multiple rooms.
  • It is important to install Natural Gas alarms in all rooms were gas appliances exist. It is recommended to install your alarm more than 3 feet, but no more than 10 feet, away from a gas appliance.
  • Install with top of the detector within 12 inches of the ceiling.
  • Install in an area where it will not be impeded by items hanging from or near the ceiling such as curtains, drapes, and ceiling fans.
  • Additional Instructions can be found at denovadetect.com/pages/how-to-install-denova-detect

How To Test Natural Gas Alarms

  • Test your Natural Gas alarm’s power and gas leak alarm notifications at least once a week.
Take immediate action if your alarm fails a test.

  •  Test the alarm’s power by pressing test button until you hear a “Beep” sound, then quickly release (within 3 seconds from when the button was pressed). If the device is property powered, the green LED will flash twice every second (for 3 seconds).

  •  Test the alarm’s notifications by pressing the test button for 5 seconds and the alarm notification test will begin automatically. If the device is operating properly, the red LED will flash once every 2 seconds for a 12 second period, and the following alarm message will sound:
“Beep Beep Beep Beep Danger – gas leak explosion risk – evacuate, then call 9-1-1.”
