Introduction
Overview
This document provides general guidelines for 5634 WiFi phone connection to
MiVoice Office 250 R 6.3 SP5. This is a quick version, which describes the
basic principle of how to deploy 5634 WiFi phone across the office.
Prerequisites
The reader should first become familiar with the MiVoice Office 250, 5634
VoWiFi Handset Configuration Guide. All documents are available on Doc Center
accessible from MiAccess.
Please use 5634_v2.3.3.pkg with 5634_GDPR.tpl as MiVoice Office 250 has been
tested with the standard version of the firmware (see References).
Peripheral Devices for 5634 WiFi Phone
Desktop Charger
You use the desktop charger to charge the handset and the Mitel 5634 Desktop
Programmer to download new software and synchronize parameters. The units look
the same except that the Desktop Programmer has a USB connection. The handset
is fully operational while placed in the charger.
WinPDM software installed on your PC
The Portable Device Manager (PDM) is an all-in-one portable handset management
tool available on Mitel Software Download Center. The PDM software
application, with a web browser-based environment and USB programming cradle,
provides a simple administration process for portable handset subscription and
configuration. Portable handset replacement and service is easily facilitated
by the central storage of configuration information.

MiVoice Office 250 Database Programming
Software License – SIP Licensing
Ensure that MiVoice Office 250 is equipped with enough Category ‘F’ licenses
for the required number of SIP end points. This can be verified within the
Software License Feature section form.
Figure 1: Software License
SIP phone creation
-
Add a SIP phone in MiVoice Office 250 database programming (DBP). Under System-> Devices and Feature Codes, click Phones. Then right click to select “Create SIP Phone…” to create a SIP phone. In this example, SIP extension 1001 is created.
-
After creating the SIP phone, the MiVoice Office 250 Database Programming automatically creates a SIP Phone Group with a default configuration profile. In this example, P9001 is created.
Go to System -> Devices and Feature Codes -> SIP Peers -> SIP Phone Groups/->Configuration.
In the right-side pane, click Maximum Number of Calls, and select 4.Figure 3: Configuring of SIP Phone Group on MiVoice Office 250 -
Click Authentication to change the password. Remember the new password. The current password is the extension number, and if the password is not changed, the system will warn that a weak password is used.
Enter alphanumerical details in the In-Bound Authentication Username and right click Password field to edit the password.
Making these changes provides an increased level of security as the SIP device is challenged for log on, and its username and password checked against those you have configured.

- In WAN connection configuration Disable DHCP
- In LAN connection configuration set the same IP address subnet as your PBX system uses.
- Go to WLAN configuration and enter SSID
- Save all settings
- Reboot your router
- Disconnect router from PC
- Connect router to the network switch with your systems subnet (192.168.XX.XX for example) using router WAN port
WinPDM
The WinPDM runs on a PC and is used to configure the handset as follows:
- Connect a Mitel 5634 Desktop Programmer cradle through a USB port, to the computer running WinPDM.
