LIGHT-TURN in Venezia

At the invitation of CREA Cantieri del Contemporaneo, LICHTWENDE (LIGHT-TURN) presents an installation in the rooms on Giudecca in cooperation with La Biennale di Venezia 2022 in which three artists work together. This is also the first event of FUNDAMENTA, Venezia – Munich by the curators Elmar Zorn, Munich & Pier Paolo Scelsi, Venezia.

LICHTWENDE

LICHTWENDE is an art event that has taken place four times a year at the transitions of the seasons since 2020. In a transdisciplinary way, it combines music, forms of visual art and many things that arouse amazement. LICHTWENDE was born out of the insight that art must be used to defiantly tackle a collective and resigned paralysis in society. A paralysis, first caused by the covid pandemic, now by the echo of the atrocities of the, until recently unthinkable, war in Europe, which itself was described as a “turn of time ”.VENEZIA-Light-Turn-fig 1

Martin Rosenthal

Monadea

Sound and video installation by Martin Rosenthal based on original texts by Giordano Bruno, the natural philosopher and visionary who was arrested in Venice for his ground-breaking view of the world and burned at the stake in Rome. For Martin Rosenthal, Bruno’s idea of so-called monads working in everything is a primordial fractal that has a supra-temporal effect right up to the present. As the smallest part in which the entire System becomes visible in superposition. Giordano Bruno had already anticipated this foundation of quantum physics in his edifice of thought. The installation Monadea is full of superpositions. Most clearly in the bilingual composition of Giordano Bruno’s original text, which makes it possible to experience parallel perceptions that seem alien to our perceptual system, although we encounter them every day. Like in the crowds on the vaporetto, on the bus, at the train station, everywhere in a world full of people, full of languages, full of emotions – and full of limited attention.
In his work, MR repeatedly deals with the limits of perception and beyond. Installations in museums in China, Europe and the USA and large-scale projections at Lichtsicht 4 and 6 at the Projection Biennale in Bad Rothenfelde. The focus of his work is his counter-rotating tetrahedrons, which, as here in the NFTs, span a universe of their own.

Anie Speermann
Pegasus:VENEZIA-Light-Turn-fig 2

Pegasus is a magical creature that unfolds its effect in thought. He is a gift to humanity, whom he wants to make fly inwardly, to give wings to their thoughts. As the heraldic animal of poetry, Pegasus is a symbol of the freedom of thought. The art of Anie Speetmann wants to awaken the longing for freedom. Pegasus is an inner image that she carries figuratively to the outside, so that it can be perceived there. Pegasus appears as a flying horse and an intangible, ethereal, immaterial symbol of light. He is the guiding figure of her world, also of her dream world. As the mount of the gods, pegasus brings the light of the upper world into the earthly darkness; to art, pegasus brings inspiration.
After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, she studied at Lychett Minster and in the workshops of Pietrasanta/Carrara. Subsequent work stays in Argentina, Uruguay, France, Hungary and the Dominican Republic. From 2014 to 2016 studio in Nice. 2017 Seidlvilla “Riedwies” in Murnau am Staffelsee as new base. Start of series Automatic Drawing with Ugo Dossi. New large sculptures in own sculpture park. Foundation of LICHTWENDE there with actions by numerous guests. 2018 new picture designs for the Pegasus cycle.

Ugo Dossi Light signs.

Ugo Dossi’s art revolves around the creativity of the unconscious, the sensual and the supersensual.
the supernatural. It plays with archetypal and collective images, with automatic drawings, subliminal projections, with paranormal phenomena. With his signs he creates inner images, which he describes as the only real ones because they are effective.
His installations have been shown twice at Documenta (Documenta 6 and Documenta 8), at the Venice Biennale (1986 and 2011), the Paris Biennale (1975) and the Buenos Aires Biennale (2000), as well as in numerous solo exhibitions in international museums, most recently at the Museum of Egyptian Art, Munich, and currently at the Museum Würth.

Typical of Ugo Dossi’s work is his use of forms of representation of the boundless, which lead thinking into the perception of the infinite that lies behind everything.
Dossi takes up this theme again and again. For his contribution to Documenta 6, he treated it as a mathematical form of a world model and of “relative freedom”, and for Documenta 8 he transposed it into the space of the unconscious imagination with subliminal image projections.

NFT
In the video presentation on the upper floor, Ugo Dossi and Martin Rosenthal will show a series of short videos that will be incorporated into art as NFT’s that will open up the view into the new age of a virtual world.
