How to use
Step 1
Connect “USB-A to USB-B CABLE” & “USB-A to DC Power CABLE” to the port of your PC. (1) USB-A (power transfer) (2) USB-A (data transfer) For most computers, power through the data transfer port alone will be sufficient. If the USB bus on your computer does not provide enough power to run the drive, connect (1) USB power cable “USB-A to DC Power CABLE” to the PC or a 5V/1A power adapter (preferred way to get more power, separately purchase). Please avoid using an adapter with power over 1A that may cause damage to the device. Step 2
Connect the USB cables to the writer.
Windows Connection Setting
-
Connect the external writer to the USB port of your PC via a connecting cable. An alert will pop up on the system tray at the bottom right of the screen. Driver installation will commence automatically.
-
If you click on the “Windows” shortcut, the optical drive icon can be found in “Removable Storage”.
-
Double click the optical drive icon, or choose “Pop Up” from the menu by right-clicking the icon, a pop-up window prompt you to insert a disc.
-
Insert a disc into the pop-up tray. The indicator light will turn on to signal that the writer is functioning.
-
Burning software installation is required to perform the disc-burning functions.
Remarks:
- If the external writer performs below expectation, please try with 5V/1A power adapter (Purchase Separately);
- Playback software & burning software not included. To be purchased or downloaded separately.
Troubleshooting
If the writer is not working as described, please check the following:
-
Ensure the driver is properly installed. Turn off anti-virus software during installation.
-
Switch to other USB ports.
-
Connect the writer directly to the PC without connecting through the hub or an extension cable.
-
If your writer fails to read: check if the disc is placed properly;
Clean dirt or dust on the disc recording side with a lint-free cloth; replace with a new disc; confirm if the disc format is supported by the writer. -
If your writer fails to playback: Check the compatibility of the player software.
-
Noise: Replace with another disc to ensure that poor disc quality is not the underlying issue.
-
Hardware issues: Check if your system meets the minimum 0S & hardware requirements.
-
Connection Issues e-Check if the cable is connected properly to your computer and the writer.
-
Check if your writer has power. Try ejecting the disc to see if the writer is getting power.
-
Check if your OS recognizes the writer. If not, try inserting a disc into the drive to re-establish a connection.
-
Check if your USB port is working. If not, try another USB port or check your Universal Serial Bus Controllers in your Device
Manager. Be sure to: -
Ensure your USB driver is up-to-date.
-
Check your USB selective suspend settings. Advanced power settings may disable power to your USB port.
-
If you’re using Windows, check if the Fast Startup is turned off.
