Product Information
The Programming Command Guide Version 1.3 is a user manual for programming various models of scanners including 203, 830A, 830B, 830C, 830i, and 870. The guide provides detailed information on serial programming commands that can be used in place of programming barcodes to program the scanner. The device must be set to an TTL-RS232 interface for the commands to work. The guide also provides function and menu commands to configure settings such as interface, baud rate, parity, data bits, stop bits, and illumination levels.
Product Usage Instructions
To use the Programming Command Guide, follow the steps below:
- Ensure that the scanner is set to an TTL-RS232 interface.
- Refer to the corresponding programming barcode in the manual for complete descriptions and examples of each serial programming command.
- Use a PC COM port with terminal emulation software to send the serial commands to the scanner.
- Use the menu commands with syntax x02xF0x03 + Menu Number + Setting Value + Character to configure settings such as interface, baud rate, parity, data bits, stop bits, and illumination levels. Refer to the table in the manual for details on each menu number and setting value.
- Use function commands with syntax STX + CMD + EXT to trigger or untrigger functions on the scanner. Refer to the manual for details on each CMD.
- Example : To set the unit default, send commands x02xF0x03 0D0100. Response is 0D0100 [ACK].
- Note that RT870 has no buttons, so it is invalid to switch to Trigger Mode in USB-HID Mode, also the scanner cannot be set to USB-HID Mode when it’s in Trigger Mode.
The serial programming commands can be used in place of the programming bar codes. Both the serial commands and the programming bar codes will program the scanner.
